That's a killer deal.

Hi guys,
This is Chrissy.
Can anyone tell me where i can buy a good quality subwoofer for my KEF100
system? Mine got hit by a power surge, I think.
It doesn't work at all. It looks like the rest of my system is still OK, but no way to verify that. Any help would be appreciated. I called KEF directly, and they the system will not work with any other replacement subwoofer. Just that one.
I searched all over the Internet, Ebay, etc etc...can't find anything.
Thanks.

I would welcome comments from all of you my Gurus here. I am planning any one of the following setups for my speakers. My aim is to hear music and movies 50/50. Options I am considering are as follows;

1) 4x iq30 speakers,
Center Speaker - 1 x iQ60c
Subwoofer - svs pc13-ultra or pc12-plus
OR
2) 4x iq30 speakers,
Center Speaker - 1 x XQ50c
Subwoofer - svs pc13-ultra or pc12-plus

The questions I have are as follows
1) Will XQ50c be a mismatch to the 4 iq30 speakers since xQ and iQ are two different types?

2) Will svs subwoofer provide a better performance than a KEF subwoofer such as XQ60b ?

I don't have space for towers hence bookshelf is the only option.
I would highly appreciate any comments or alternatives on these options.
Thanks

I have a pair of older KEf K140's and would like to use them for the backs and add a front pair of speakers and a center speaker. Any thoughts on compatibility.....These would be connected to a Yamaha RX-V657 receiver @ 95 watts a channel. PS Budget for the fronts to include the center speakers is $2,000

Thanks for the help....

Well since nobody responded I spoke to KEF today. My K140 will work great with the IQ and XQ line which was good news. So and I am going with IQ70's for front's and will use a IQ60 center. The K140's will be the back.

I'm new here and this is my first post, so please be kind. After realizing my Bose Acoustimass 16 was junk, I just ordered the KEF 3005 SE system. I have an Onkyo TX-SR607, can I buy two more matching satellite speakers to complete a 7.1 surround system? Thanks

Of course.

Are you asking if they are available individually and where they might be purchased?

Went and demo'ed some floorstanders yesyerday, a pair of B&W 683's and a used pair of MA gs20's. Got back home last night and threw some stuff in and cranked up my IQ3's to compare. Came away deciding I love the sound of the KEF's, but want to get that bigger, fuller sound the floorstanders had. I'm running one 10" Klispch sub with them, just seems like there's something not quite there between it and the crystal clear upper stuff. Girlfriend gave the greenlight for an upgrade, so since I like the KEF sound, I was thinking of going with Iq 9 or 7's, that would let me slide the 3's to the back. Question's would be.. What would be the main difference sonically between the 9/7? Would it be a noticeable upgrade between the 9/7? What would I lose, if anything, from the 3's? I've heard most people prefer the MA RS6 over the bigger RS8, so that's where the question comes in between the 9's or 7. Thanks.

I noticed the biggest improvement from my sound stage was buying a better sub. I upgraded, from iq5s to iq7s, and there was a definite improvement, but not as much as when I bought a better sub.

I've been auditioning speakers lately after doing months of research and I've narrowed my search down to KEF. I find them a great value and a better sound than speakers costing twice the amount. This thread has been very helpful as well in my decision.

I have a question about additional speakers to my mains. I'm pretty set on XQ40's as my fronts and XQ50c as my center. Right now I'm running 5.1 but have a new Onkyo 5007 with 11.2 capability so I'd like to take advantage of some of those amplifiers.

I'm going to need to go with in-wall speakers for the height and surround speakers. What would you recommend from the KEF in-wall series that would best match the XQ40's and XQ50c?

I may be able to fit XQ10's behind my couch for the surround back speakers but I would need to get them 38 inches high to clear the couch. Are the in-wall's as good as the XQ10? Maybe I'll just go in-wall for all of the surround speakers.

There's a small chance I may be able to get a great deal on 203/2's and a 202/2c. Would the same in-walls matched for the XQ's be adequate for the reference series?

Thanks for any help you may be able to provide!

There's a local retailer selling the KEF C7 Towers for $498/pair.
They also have the C6LCR Centre Channel for $280/each.

Are these worth getting? I like the look of the Q Series more, but if I go that route, I'll end up spending an extra $1000 (or more) when all is said and done.

Thanks.

I just reposted these in the classifieds section with a lower price. Also, I'm willing to split them up now. See the ad for details.

iQ5's
iQ6c
iQ1's

I know I'm replying to a very old post, but I thought I'd chime in because I emailed KEF today and got a response within a couple hours.

I asked if the iQ60 was matched to the iQ7's (which I purchased from accessories4less today). The reply was:

Hi,

That's the beauty about the Uni-Q driver in all KEF Products - theyre voiced to fit/compliment all models. Even though the newer version iQ series has an updated Uni-Q driver, it was voiced by the same engineer with these types of scenarios in mind.

So you should be fine with the iQ 60 if you wish to purchase one.

Hope you enjoy this system! The iQ 7s were terrific. Let me know if you need further help.

Based on that response, I picked up the iQ60 at a local shop.

So, contrary to my post above, I decided against the C Series, and went with the iQ's. I can't wait for the iQ7's to arrive in about two weeks! I'll buy surrounds in a few months, I think, then finish it off with a Sub (leaning towards SVS). Right now, I'm using very cheap 5.1 Yamaha speakers, so having a KEF system by mid-year will be a much overdue upgrade!

Congrat on your iQ's. I love mine. I ended up finding an iQ6c to go with my iQ9's with iQ1's for surrounds because my living room is average sized it works well. I would like to try iQ8ds someday when I get a 7.1 receiver. I had a Canton passive sub that I really like so I got a cheap amp for it. Enjoy.

Thanks! As I said, I can't wait to get my iQ7's. Unfortunately, ground shipping from Florida to Canada is going to take a long time.

I read one review where it was mentioned that the KEF speakers need to be broken in (~100 hours of usage). Has anyone else experienced this? I'm also considering bi-amping the iQ7's. My receiver (Onkyo 606) supports this. Should I refrain from doing that if I can't also bi-amp my iQ60?

You can bi-amp if you want, it probably won't make any difference, but it doesn't hurt to try.

I don't think you need to break in. I have IQ7s as well, and I just fired them right up to normal use.

Hi all-

I picked up a pair of iq30s a few months ago, and loving them.

Is there any kind of wall mount for them? I found things for the iq10s, but I am afraid that they won't support the larger '30s

I would like to be able to have them rotate up to about 30 degrees, and tilt a little as well (but I can live without the tilt)

Thanks!

I think there is some discussion in this thread about using the brackets that are made for the iQ10s with the iQ30s. I don't think they fit the curve of the cabinet perfectly, but it should be OK. I would think the weak point is going to be where you attach to your wall, not the bracket, itself.
I use the iq1 brackets for my IQ1 surrounds. I wouldn't put anything heavier than an IQ1, as the bracket already has difficulty holding the weight of the iq1. Fortunately, for me I point them down a bit anyways.

KEF owner here. I have the KEF KHT5005.2 5.1 system. I am adding on a home theater in my house and want to do a 7.1 system. Budget is tighter than expected and I was originally planning on going in wall and selling off my KEF speakers. I am toying with either that or just adding two more KEF HTS5001.2 satellite speakers to match. Does anyone know where I can pick a set up in black without getting ripped off? Also, does anyone know someone that might be interested in my set if I decide to let them go? They are about two years old in immaculate condition. I bought them new and you guys obviously know how much they cost!! Thanks for any help.

Happy New Year
Buying them separately would be quite expensive. If you can deal with the size, iq10s can be had for pretty cheap and will be very good.

I will be hitting a stud, so there should be no problem there.

Can anyone attest to using these w/ the iq30s?

Right. I guess I should have been clearer and prefaced that with "If there is going to be a weak point,................".

But, of course, ilivas claims the bracket IS a weak point, so................

If you dig back in the thread you'll see a few mentions of using the iQ1/iQ10 bracket for the iQ3/iQ30s. Try searching this thread only.

I agree. May even be able to find some iQ1s.

Hi!

I have purchased a pair of used IQ7, very much happy with those speakers.

Probably this is not a new question, but here I go:

Is there any significant difference between the current and the previous IQ series? In this case, IQ7 over the IQ70?

Thanks in advance

The iQ7 is a 3-way speaker. The iQ70 is a 2.5-way. The tweeter's crossover frequency is slightly different. How different they might sound is anyone's guess. Very few people have experienced both and any report you get is going to (of course) be very subjective. The woofer construction was changed pretty significantly with the iQ#0s. Again, how different they might sound is anyone's guess. The tweeter on the iQ#0s has the "tangerine" waveguide.

I wouldn't think about it too much, though. If you're happy, you're happy.

Thanks sivadselim!

I am really happy, those babies sounds wonderful from Mozart to Metallica

Again thanks and have a great new year!

Finally got everything set up, minus getting a subwoofer. (and some more cable management!!!) Pictures to come soon, but I'm loving the way they look and sound. Speaking of looks... what do you prefer.... covers on or off?
I personally prefer the looks of them off...
