I believe they went back to the traditional cabinetry design to getter better low end extension.

I see....what happened to reducing standing waves? I think that was the PR when they (and everyone else) went to curved cabinets. I really liked the old iQ/xQ line; in fact if they had made iQ cabinets with xQ build quality/finish I might have purchased a new set already. Instead I just stare at the reference line and try to justify dropping enough money for a good car on a 5.0 set-up.

Anyone able to comment on comparison between KEF IQ30 and NHT Two Bookshelf? Will be used in a 2.1 setup with the sat's mounted on a shelf (5' high, 2" off the wall).

I just got the speaker wires from Blue Jeans cables (12 AWG Belden 5000UE) with banana at one end and spade at the other end. Unfortunately the spades are not wide enough to be connected to the binding post. I may have to contact BlueJeans cables for a replacement. It was advertised to fit anything from 1/8 to 1/4.

Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy Kef's HTC5001 (centre channel) to complete my KHT500.5.2 system. I'm not sure if one of the surrounds (HTS5001) could be used in its place. As you may know this line has been discontinue, so I'll appreciate if you have suggestions or offer any. Thanks in advance for your contribution.

Hey guys, does anyone know where I can get the Kef's iQ10 wall bracket. Dealers I've contacted seem to have run out. Also, Kef won't have the next batch ready until January next year. Any suggestions? A used one will do the job as well. Thanks in advance

Are the IQ's (10, 30, or 50's) real wood veneer or vinyl?

How do the 10's and 30's do close to a rear wall (hung or bookshelf)?

IQ's are vinyl covered, and they do just fine on a rear wall. I have mine mounted up high using the factory mounts. If using for surround just go with the 10's you will spend less, and probably never notice the difference vs. the 30's.

I have a 16x14 room and I definitely need to use ceiling mounted (with angulation capabilities) in the front and center but can use wall mounts for the rear if need be. (rears can be positioned to fire straight down ) Above the room is attic space.

I will be using the room for 80% tv/movies and the remainder will be music when I have a free moment away from the kids.

That brings me to another point. I need to save for these kids' college funds so any suggestions as to best bang for the buck would be appreciated.

Do I need to build enclosures around the ceiling mounts or is the open space fine?

Would You go with ceilings for the rear or go for a wall position?

Please let me know the KEF models you would go with.

Thank you for your time.

Just looking for some thoughts on this. I'm thinking about a couple different possibilities for a 5.1 setup. It will be healthy mix of gaming, music, and cinema. I'll be using a Denon 1912. I don't plan on Earth shatter volume due to the fact that I mainly use it and night and have neighbors below me.

1) Q300's front R/L and surround R/L, Q600c for center, and a sub of choice.

2) Q300's front R/L, IQ10 for surround R/L, Q600c for center, and a sub of choice.

I have quite a bit of room in front of the seating position, but there isn't much at all from to the sides of the seating position (practically right next to it,) so I was thinking IQ10 would be a bit better for the surrounds since the they are a bit smaller and surround isn't as important as fronts.

I believe going with all Q300's is only $100-200 more, but I'm still not sure I'd need/want them.

One more thing. I read a kinda meh review about someone using the Denon 1312 with the Q300's in stereo and being not to happy. Any thoughts on that are appreciated as well.

Thanks,
William

Hi guys,

I'm going to buy Q300 speakers and I'm trying to find an A/V receiver that matches them well. I saw Pioneer VSX-1326 only for $750 in Future Shop on Boxing Day. The store selling the KEF speakers is a small dealer who doesn't have Pioneer receivers and I don't have the chance to test them together.

Can you please tell me if Pioneer VSX-1326 and Q300 is a good match? Or if not, what other brands and/or models do you recommend?

Regarding my usuage, I'd say it's 60% music and 40% movies. I'm going to set up a stereo system but I'll upgrade to 5.1 in future and may buy Q700 for the front.

Thanks for you time, and happy new year!

Just a couple of pics of my new 201/2s in Snow White that I won in the recent Kef competition. It's a shame the pics don't do them justice as they're a thing of beauty. The only problem is, that it's making me consider swapping out the rest of my Piano Black Refs to Snow White !!

Now I just need to think of what to do with them !

Happy New Year y'all Kef crew.

what do you guys reccomend for an amplifier to run these q900s.. i know the 50-200w suggested range, but what is a good real world number, i have a carver m500t running them currently which is rated for 250w x2 @ 8 ohm.. too much? too little? just right?

i had toyed with the idea of picking up a second carver since they are so cheap now days and briding them but i think at that point ill be too much power for these kef's

Any idea when the R series will be available at places like vanns or newegg? Will I have to wait until they're discontinued?

Hi,
Currently R Series will only be available through a brick and mortar retail store and not through online retailers.

How is the "new" Q series comparing to the iQ?
I bought iQ1,2,5s three years ago on sale - probably making way for the new stuff. Been very happy with it.
I see the cabinet design is different and the tweeters are one inch.
I'd like to hear from someone who has both or who has extensively listened to both types. Are there major differences in the sound? Say iQ5 vs Q500?

Just moved, my last place had carpet,I used the spikes. Now where I am at, floor is tile and hardwood. Should I use the spikes again?
