Congrats! I think you will love the XQ30s. I would try to score the matching XQ50c while you still can.
Thanks a bunch! around 2 1/2 years been waiting to get some speakers and finally have them on their way.
Also, regarding the matching center, i would love to try but there's no way. i'm at my limit unless i sell my boat lol and i don't plan on doing that.

I don't think I posted my KEF setup yet. I have really been enjoying them and am glad I gave them a try. Although I am not sure what would be the best thing to do with my Q600c.

I have a LG 47LM6700 LED 3D TV
Yamaha RX-A710 AVR
Oppo BD 103 Blueray player
Apple TV
Ipod and 3.5mm audio jack
Q900
Q600c
rear Def Tech Pro Monitor 1000's
Custom cooling system in the cabinet

Thanks, I have been toying with the idea of having a shelve made and putting the Q600c above the TV

Looks really good the way it is. I have my speaker mounted above my TV but only to make room below for a planned amp. If yours were mine I'd probably leave it the way it is. If you ever got a bigger TV you might have to.

Would having it on a shelve above the TV improve the sound quality any noticeable amount?

Doubt it. Ear level is best so looking at the photo it would be a wash. Mine was previously on the bottom shelf of my TV stand pointing up at my MLP with no obstructions. Now it's just higher pointing down. No difference in SQ.

Is it close to ear level. It sits about a foot below ear level when sitting upright but when reclined it is just about at ear level.

Yep, personally I'd just leave it unless you want a different look. The main thing is to have the speaker pointing at your MLP.

I have only had the KEF and oppo with apple tv for about a month. I do love them and they do but I wouldn't mind a sub. I was originally going to get paradigms studio 100 with a cc590 but went with the kef for over a $1000 cheaper and uprgaded to the oppo and am getting some recessed lights put in.
could you post a youtube link showing these recessed lights please? and i believe you did the right thing sparing that $1000 to get that oppo. You think you need more power for those 9's?

I do not have the recessed lights yet but they will be 6 in the ceiling because I have no lights in the room other than a lamp. The 9's prob could use more power but I am pretty happy with them. My wallet needs to recover before I think of adding more power.

BTW, i have read suggestions that with headphones, you aren't suppose to play them at loud levels till you get at least 20hrs in on them. Is this the same with speakers?
I never heard that with headphones but it makes sense! I am playing them at a very low volume right now, I just mention they are getting louder because I have to keep decreasing the volume on my receiver to keep the volume at what I feel is a good "break in level." I've got about 25 hours in right now but I've heard KEF's take around 40, so I'm taking my sweet time before I start blasting.

FWIW, I'm running a SVS SB12-NSD with my KEF's and it sounds great on both music and HT. The PB12 goes a little deeper (below 20hz) so some folks prefer them for HT, but I liked the smaller size of the SB12. (Haven't heard the HSU subs but the get universally great reviews.)

Thanks for the opinion! I haven't heard either of them, but I think after the amount of time I spent going from store to store with the bookshelves, I'll probably just take a leap of faith with the sub. HSU, SVS, Klipsch Ref and Outlaw are on my short list, but some of the build your own kind of intrigue me as well.

well, this bites. i was waiting to order a subwoofer because i decided it would be more important to get the matching center while it was available but i wanted to at least hear the speakers first before i decided to do so but now they are out of stock frown.gif Anyone ever worked with kefdirect and know if they will send me an e-mail when it is available again?

bthrb,

You ask odd questioins that if you took the time and researched you should be able to figure out on your own. But here goes, a few simple internet searches and I found a phone # for Kef 1-888-533-3728.

Good luck.

I was wondering if Bcarroll, or anyone who has the Q series, has a suggestion as to which type of plugs/spades work most securely with the terminals on the back of the speakers. Also, do the colored plugs pop out? I assume they would but I don't want to mess up the terminals just in case. Thanks.

Do you mean the red/black plugs on the back of the rear terminals on the speakers? If so then yes just take the end of your fingernail and they will pop right out. For the plugs I have something similar to these http://www.amazon.com/Sewell-Maestro-Banana-Connectors-Pairs-12/dp/B004CM4A58/ref=sr_1_22?ie=UTF8&qid=1360180782&sr=8-22&keywords=speaker+banana+plug. I found them in the look at these speaker wire thread.

Wow, "Keep life simple. It's easier to enjoy it that way." quoted from my uncle.
Obviously it's not hard to find their number. In fact i still have it on my call log on my phone.
I had just ran into the predicament and i'm sorry i haven't interested you enough to chit chat with me like other people do on this forum, i was hoping someone would reply.
Never ending on this site.
B-Ben, just because i had just read this on bluejeancables.com and aren't sure if you're aware of it or what your equipment is, spades generally don't work on receivers because they sort of intrude the space in the back of the receiver instead of extruding it.

These work well and sound identical to any other connectors: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-202788724/h_d2/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10053&langId=-1&keyword=speaker+pin&storeId=10051#.URLMLR2A58E

No you're right, I'm an a-hole and should remember that I'm chit chatting on the internet.

My feeling is you've ordered speakers form a website, so you have communicated with them in the past. Logic would tell me, you would be the best candidate to answer a question regarding how that same site handles back orders. I have family members that say what ever comes to there mind, I see that some on this site type what ever comes to there mind. And to pile on, asking someone to post a youtube link showing a specific recessed light is just plain odd. Just sayin'.

By the way, life is complicated.
Bcarroll: That's exactly what I meant. Thanks! I figured the plugs would pop out but I'd rather be safe on this. I emailed KEF about a week ago and have yet to hear a response.

DS: Thanks for the suggestion! I would assume the connection would be just as good with bananas as spades, but I prefer the look/convenience of the bananas.

bthrb4u: I was planning on using bananas for my receiver (Denon 1612), since the plugs are already out, but I appreciate the advice!
i didn't mean to see his setup, i was hoping to get an example of what he meant
