Congrats! If you have room I would recommend the following order for 7.2; rear surrounds, wides and lastly heights. For heights I would go with Q100s as the 300s may be too big. I have heights but they help disperse the surround effects so I don't hear my ceiling surround speakers as localized. Otherwise they are pretty subtle for impacting the front soundstage but that is using PLIIz.
So your saying I should do the wides as apposed to hights?
Yes, I would suggest trying wides if your room can accommodate. I am going off of what I have read to be honest as I have not heard a setup with wides only mine with heights.

I'm gonna try both setup options and see what I like better

I have currently 2 KEF iQ3's as Main left and right speakers and a iQ6c as my center. (I have another pair if iQ3's but have no desire to run the wiring behind the couch for them. In my house (while I had the ceilings ripped out) I ran speaker wire over the couch in two prime locations for in-ceiling speakers. Does anyone have any review's/recommendations on two in-ceiling speakers that most closely match my iQ3's?

I was looking at a pair of CR160 but wasn't sure if I should get the CR or QR series.

The CR has the "island waveguide" that is supposed to help with off-axis response but is oddly cheaper than the QR series.

http://www.kefdirect.com/ci160qr-thin-bezel-in-ceiling-speaker.html

Any suggestions? I assume I should get the 160 series since they are 6.5 inches in diameter, the same as my main L&R...correct? Or should I try and shoot for the 200 series (8")?

Thanks

*

FYI, the wiring was run to where the yellow insulation closest to the camera shot was taken. Additionally, I ran R-19 non-fiberglass insulation to fill in the gaps where insulation was previously not installed. Sound absorption in the room is 500% better. The TV is located in the corner (wife wouldn't let me mount over the fireplace (insert crying).

The QR features our Uni-Q driver which is why it is a little more expensive than the CR. The CR gives excellent dispersion for those who don't want to go with the Uni-Q (to lower costs). Looking at your room, either product will absolutely work for you.

Hello my fellow kef owners I have a question in regards to my set up I have a onkyo txnr809 and I have a pair of q700's in the front no center channel yet and a pair of q300's doing rear surround and I was just wondering if I should set the 300's to 80hz cuz the audyssey has them set to 40hz and I read somewhere in one of the threads on here that audyssey has a bug and sets it to 40hz idk so some clarifacation is much needed thanks in advance

I would set it to 80Hz if you have a subwoofer. Audyssey just tests the range of the speaker to the +-3db point and if your speaker can hit 40Hz that's what Audyssey will set it to. That isn't the best because if you have a sub, it's much more capable playing stuff below 80Hz than a speaker will be.

I suppose I will add my setup here.

TV: Samsung 46" LED
Marantz NR1501 (Ok for now, but only 50W per channel)
Q11 fronts
Q1 Surrounds
Q10c Center
XBOX 360
Samsung Blu-Ray

When I purchased the 5 speakers I had originally planned on using the Q11's for 2 channel exclusively, but I like them in the HT setup. I guess I will have to buy a pair of LS50's.

You don't find the bass very elevated?

Help!

I need a center channel speaker for a new surround system that I'm building in my living room. The side fronts will be 30 year old Mission 780 Argonauts. They still sound superb, so I see no need to waste $ replacing them. They are British made 2-way loudspeakers (no midrange driver), 4 ohms impedance, with two 8" polymer woofers and a 25mm polymer dome tweeter. They were the top of Mission's line in the mid 80's; cost about $1500 new back then.

It's been suggested to me that a good center speaker match for these would be a high-quality British loudspeaker, which made me think of this brand. What do KEF owners think? What might be a good timbre match for the Argonauts? I don't want to spend any more than around $600 for a center speaker. I'll have to mail-order it as nobody local carries them, so I really can't demo any.

Nice, what are you doing with the LS50s up front? I am thinking about getting a set for my surrounds. Also, are those JL112 or 113? How does the LS50 & sub compare to the 205/2s?
I just placed it there for picture purposes only. I used LS50 as surrounds. That's JL Fathom F113. I think the LS50 and F113 are blending well with 205/2. Just a little tricky with positioning of subs. Maybe in the future, i will buy 201/2 and use LS50 for rears.

pinoy ako, what are your amps and processor? Also, what do you use for a source?
Anthem Statement D2V3D and A5, I have bryston 4bsst2 also. My source is CAPS v3 Zuma and using Exasound e20 DAC for 2 channel music.

Hello guys,

I just upgraded my home-theater with KEF R700 + R600c + r100 + R400b sub. What receiver did you recommend me to buy, Pioneer Elite, Denon 4520 or another? Later I will buy an integrated amplifier for driving front towers. Thanks for advices.

Denon 4520, 4311, or even X4000 seems like a great choice w/ Audyssey XT32.

Before I bought Kef Reference, I was using R700 R600 and R300 for a year. I paired it with Onkyo 3009. It is very good for movie and music with DSP engage.

If you are sensitive to 2 channel music, you have to look somewhere else or buy a DAC with pre amp and HT Bypass.

beautiful system now you need a larger tv lol. with that kind of system I would start investing in some acoustic treatments for your room
