Time to Wake up - Olevia 565H is Coming!

I have been waiting for the LCoS from Olevia, Brillian's economy line, ever since their collaboration was announced. It has finally arrived in the form of 565H . I will be anxiously awaiting its reviews. Let's hope it is as good as Brillian's own and will be available through Costco at a discount to its $4,299 MSRP come next spring.

According to a few articles I found it's coming out in October.

Is this why people can't get it up now?

Olevia isn't a household name, nor is Brillian, but 565H is the first attempt by SyntaxBrillian at offering a quality LCoS ala Brillian at down-to-earth price ala Olevia. I can't wait to read the reviews that should be coming in soon. I am crossing my fingers that it will not disappoint. It will be particularly interesting how it is going to compare to LCoS sets from JVC and Sony.

If it is anything like the brillian it should be very nice.

Anyone that doesn't have one of those monster California sun rooms.

Too bad they DON'T make a 56"
I'm excited about this. gonna use the profits i made with syntax-brillian stock to buy this set. Can't get any better than that! (well maybe after a couple guys review it just to be safe).

PS3/xbox360/HTPC 1080p here I come
Why are they including DVI? DVI is dead
for people with htpc's? even my cable box has dvi...

HDMI clearly is the future, but legacy compatibility should always be considered.

and there are always adapter cables
Still, I swear this company just bought too many DVI cards or something. If Brillian had been just a little more price competitive with their last LCOS set and didn't have DVI then I'd have bought it.
hmm... interesting reasons not to buy. I wouldn't have though having DVI would be a dealbreaker for anyone. You do know DVI and HDMI are electrically compatible right? all you need is the adapter.. Anways, they ARE including HDMI in the new sets you know...

Also, the new 65" LCOS is in an entirely different league quality wise from that offbeat 50" lcos that syntax used to sell before they merged with brillian. but i'll leave that to reviewers when it actually hits the st... way, way below the $4200 MSRP if i may add.

Did anyone see the 565H at CEDIA? If so, what were your thoughts? Also, beyond the press release stating it would be out in October, has anyone learned specifics on when and where it would be available. A message I left with their Boulder, CO office has yet to be returned.

$4,299 and that's not a very competitive price if you look at what's out there already. I'm hoping the street price will be much better.

I Saw It At Cedia And Was Wowed! Along With Mits Dlps, Jvcs Lcos, Fujitsus New Flat Screen, This Was A Great Looking Set. Small Company And Distribution Will Hurt Sales But It Looked Like A Winner.
At that price, Syntax had better include the same Silicon Optix video processing they are using in their 742/747 series of 1080p LCDs.

Update: Sigh...the Olevia 565H uses the same crap Pixel Works DNX region-based processing as Syntax's 300 series of LCDs. When are they going to learn to let the engineers set the specifications instead of marketing.
it will come in much closer to the $3000 range than $4000

pixelworks was behind the original brillian LCOS that won all those accolades, so it can't be that bad.

any sightings/previews yet?
Although all the press release info suggested a mid-October release, a VP of marketing at Brillian told me last month that the 565h was expected mid-November. The only contacts he was able to provide me were a handful of AV distributors who supply the local, higher-ended type of retail store. The New England distributor suggested they weren't even planning to carry the lcos model, only the new LCD displays. He did indicate that they would announce some larger (national?, online?) suppliers at the time this model became available so I guess we'll have to wait a few more weeks.
The only thing keeping me from having the 61" JVC 1080P HD-ILA is reported, and personally seen, fairly substantial SSE effect due to the high gain screen used.

Any word if that will be minimized, or even eliminated in this Model's release?

Maybe only the guy that saw it at CEDIA could comment, but that is the LcOs set I am waiting for, no color uniformity issues and greatly reduced SSE.

A very interested potential buyer.

Thanks
According to Brillian's marketing materials their technology supports, "...12-bit analog grayscale color reproduction..." I'm inferring that this means they support 48-bit RGB color depth externally from component inputs and internally for digital processing. It would be nice if they also supported this externally from digital inputs--does anyone know if this display supports HDMI 1.3?

during last nights earnings conference call, syntax-brillian said it is targeting a $2000 street price for the 565h in the second half of 07... and the company is awesome at hitting its target. just look at the stock price. just FYI.

If they can get near that price and lower SSE, with perhaps a different screen, I would buy one.
The older Brillians came with free ISF calibration. Does any one know if this will apply to the 565?
^Doubtful as this is the Olevia line.

Also, I use DVI for my computer and possibly the PS3 if I have no more HDMI slots open.
the 7 series will come with the free calibration, 5 series not so sure, they may or may not make an exception for the LCOS

what is SSE? not screen door right? noise?
I have heard that the 565h is just a reworked Brillian 6580iFH with some added features (mainly HDMI connect).

This is good and bad...

The good...

For the person who was worried about SSE, the Brillian is probably one of the best RPTV's when it comes to SSE (you can not completely eliminate this with a RPTV).

Along with being one of the best 1080p TV's in terms of greyscale, color accuracy, and white/black levels, it is one of the only RPTV's that refresh at 120hz... This means if it is fed a 1080p24 signal (Most movies are filmed at 24 frames per second...the upcoming HD-DVD and Blu-ray players will be capable of outputting a 1080p24 signal) it can simply repeat the frame 5 times to eliminate the judder you get when a 2/3 pulldown is done on 60hz TV (most RPTV's).

The bad is the pixelworks processor does not do a motion adaptive processing on a 1080i60 signal. The 7 Series LCOS apparently will deal with this issue but will not be out until next year.
