Yes, it will have the extra silly remote. I really wouldn't make that a buying point for yourself though! I probably won't ever even pull my remotes out of the plastic, since I have a good universal remote. Honestly, if you don't have a good universal remote, i'd get one. It makes life easier for everyone.

I was thinking the same thing about the HD-DVD vs. BluRay too until I heard you can get the Toshiba HD-A1 for $364 shipped under the Continental Airlines Rewards program. This great price combined with the great quality i've seen as well as heard about made it a no-brainer for me. You can get HD-DVD movies from Amazon for 20 bucks. I've seen the Toshiba HD-A1 on the 5070 and let me tell you, it looks amazing. Plus, you can rent HD-DVDs if you want to - same price as regular DVDs from Netflix, BlockBuster online, etc. Oh, and I heard it is an excellent upconverting DVD player as well. By the way, I don't work for Toshiba....

How would LOST on ABC (720p) or FOX NFL Football (720p) look on a Pioneer 6070HD from 11FT away? Would I see a lot of compression and artifacting from my cable provider (using 8300HD DVR) on a 60-inch display?

Would it be better to go with a 5070HD instead?

I would guess based upon my experience with a native 1080 panel at 45" from 8.5' both programs come in crystal clear on my Sharp 45" and I'm preparing to go up either a 57" Samsung LCD or other larger panel and for the fact that I can view them having owned a 50" PDP and a 60" SXRD from the same distance. A 45" is too small for me as it comes in so damn clear with 1080i I can get up to the screen without seeing artifacts - especially CSI Miami. My Sharp is a fantastic panel IMO but I want bigger 6months later but the big Sharps take a Mortgage so my allegiance ends at $15K.

The only issue becoms 480i SD which I rarely bother with nowand I see no reason why this 6070 cannot equal my Sharp except it won't have as great a pixel fill. 720P being HD I see no reason to expect anything less than HD and the only issues I see are when they use camera's that are not HD or when they compress common golf tournaments. I'm not a fan of Lost but when I pop in on it periodically it's clear as a bell as is NFL Primetime Football. I would guess at your distance a 6070 should be great and develop tolerance for 480i as you would on any large HT panel. Good Luck!

11 feet away for a 50" IMHO is too far. I have a 50" and Im about 8 feet away. Go with the 60" and dont look back...

I just bought my 6071 from Best Buy. Their computers show 8/15 for availability. It will be delivered 8/16.

If history follows, I believe Best Buy gets the Pio models first, followed by the online dealers.

Looks like I am going to be one of the first to own one!

I remember reading that it was detachable.

My bestbuy claimed they would have the 6071 on aug 3 or 4th and they planned on setting one up as the main home theater display.

Why in that picture just a couple posts up, around the legs of both people, there is a distortion like effect that goes around each leg. If you look close you can see it around three of the 4 legs. Looks like heat waves or something. Does it look that bad in person?

I'm bringing a bag of popcorn and a lawn chair once they get a 6071 set up in my BB.

I just hope they have a Toshiba HD-DVD hooked up to it, with Training Day HD-DVD playing.

I saw someone asked earlier but may have missed the response if there was one... are there any guesses as to the differences between the Elite and non-Elite versions? I'll be getting one of the two, but don't need the TV till November so I hope to have the option of either. I'm not familiar enough with their Elite line to know where the extra money goes.

Generally the Elite line carries an extra year of warranty; slightly 'classier' design; 'PURE' mode, (which bypasses all internal processing), and has an in-built ISF mode for if/when you get the set calibrated. Last year I think the only other change was that the Elites came with a swivel stand versus a static stand; this year I'm not sure.

acribb, i wouldnt jump on hddvd just yet..i think that bluray will win the war eventually. there seems to be a lot more coming out on that. either way, id wait for a dual format player. thats what im going to do.

Actually, he is working a deal with Pioneer to become authorized so he could sell to anyone, it is worth a call to him to see how it is coming, if you can get on the list, etc. etc. If his deal goes through, his prices are incredible and customer service even more so.

You go ahead and wait. I'll enjoy the absolute best picture and sound quality available to consumers NOW.

My delivery date of 8/16 for my 6071 is coming up soon .......

Unfortunately, it's not happening for Chris right now, concerning becoming an authorized retailer of Pioneer. I've been checking in for a while and he doesn't know if/when that will happen. I would have liked to have bought from him.

He had informed me he was working on becoming authorized but I guess it hasn't happened. He also informed me he could sell to me or others if they lived within a 250 mile radius and I'm at about 170. A member here from FL PM'd me they negotiated a BB down there close to his quotes which is good news - now can BB price match other BB stores? Looks as if just a few weeks away from hearing real feedback.

Someone discussed HD DVD and while it's slow and a little buggy the damn thing can be crystal clear and what amazes me most is how well it does regular DVD's as you'd swear your viewing an HD DVD as it upscales better than my Oppo and Samsung 950 upscalers. I saw a Blu-Ray that actually performed correctly on a Samsung HLS 1080P DLP recently at CC and it was crystal clear and absolutely no noise, in fact I don't think I've ever seen a DLP look better (a match made in heaven)both players have had their issues but I saved $540 on the Toshiba and believe me it's next to impossible to tell which is better when operating properly. Perhaps the Blu-Ray will be less buggy and faster for that extra money? But when working right they are both awesome players and a step above any upscaler I've seen to date. LG was working on dual format but has dropped out for this year anyways.

I was in BB magnolia store today and they sales rep said they could deliver one in 3 days. This is in Tucson. Can any one confirm?

When I pre-ordered my 6071 from Best Buy last Thursday a week ago, their computer showed inventory being available as 8/15. I saw their terminal screen with that date. I scheduled my delivery the day after for 8/16. I'll call tomorrow to see if that date has been bumped up. I seriously doubt it....

I was in BB today and they have one comming in on the next truck. He said for sure by monday.
