I saw a CRT Tv with colorstream in action yesterday and was blown away. It was made by Toshiba. Are the lcd's just as good or better? And how does a Sharp Aquo 32" Lcd stack up to colorstream? Thanks.

If that Toshiba is like my old 32" HDTV, colorstream refered to the 2 Component inputs, it also had a DVI input.

Neither an LCD or Plasma will give you the picture quality of a good CRT.

Is there a reliable place to buy one of those CRT's or are they discontinued?

What size are you looking for?

ColorStream is Toshiba's marketing lingo for their three color (red, blue, green,) component input on their products. It's mentioned on a RPTV and several DVD players I've owned by them. (It's no better or worse than any other component video products.)

Hmm, you could have fooled me. I have a samsung 26 inch widescreen "HD Ready" and this toshiba blows it out of the water in terms of color depth and sharpness. I would like to get a 32 inch set.

so is colorstream just a marketing term for component video, or are they doing something here that you can't do with regular component?

I don't think it does anything special, but it does put out a great picture.

Yea I have a Toshiba 34HF83 and the component inputs are called colorstream. I use the DVI and it's even better. This Toshiba has the nicest picture I have ever seen. It's simply amazing. Used to be my living room TV but now's it's in the bedroom.

yeah we got this one just for the bedroom, which is why cablecard was a requirement. only thing is I wish it had firewire but no biggy.

The best CRT you can buy is a "Superfine Pitch" Sony 34".
