We need a thread for those who want to get 1394 working in cable boxes to discuss what sorts of actions are needed. Maybe a list of addresses to send complaints to, effective strategies in dealing with cablecos etc.
The point here is less technical how to, more political how to preserve "fair use recording" in the age of HDCP.
I don't have a problem with movies being sold with even the most restrictive consumer limits, pay per person to watch and no recording allowed, the rules for watching in a movie theater, as long as the restrictions are clear to the consumer so people don't accidently buy something like the old DivX with its pay for it like a DVD, then keep paying later to watch it.
