Paradigm Millenia Owner's Thread - Page 3

Yes . 20%
I'm adding a 7.1 system and am going with the Millenia 200s and 20 for L/R/C as well as a SVS 12" sub. I will be using a Yamaha 2700 receiver.

The movie/music mix will be 70% movies and sports, 20% classic rock music, 10% other music.

The room it is going in is very 'unfriendly' for speakers. It is a great room that consists of a lot of windows, hardwood, and open areas to adjacent rooms.

Therefore, I will be going with in-ceiling speakers for the rear 4 speakers. Have any of you heard (or have an opinion) on how well any of the following might match the Millenias:

a. Paradigm SA series in-ceiling
b. Conextion in-ceiling z400c
c. Polk RC80i
d. Triad in-ceiling gold

Although I was able to hear the Millenia speakers, I will not be able to hear any of the in-ceiling speakers.

Thanks!

Epacy, No price on the stands on his price sheet. He estimated them at $60.

You guys who got discounts, did they have them in stock, or did they need to order them?
I auditioned both the 200's and the studio 20's and just liked the soundstage the the 200's produced. I am far from an expert in this field but my personal opinion is that the 200's just sounded so much better than the 20's.
After hearing both, I placed an order for the 200's, they should be hear in about a week or two.
My local dealer had both the black and polished aluminum speakers. I ordered the black ones. He also gave me a 20% discount on them.

I am using the 200's as both fronts and rear speakers, in a 5.1 setup. Will this work? I am assuming the 200's are the same as the 20's, with another driver. Any feedback on this?

Paradigm has all the differences spelled out on their site. Just go to the spec page of the Millenia brand.

Any New Info on the Millenia 300s or 30s? No updates on paradigms site.. Maybe someone out there has the spec sheet? I know the spec sheets for the Studio and Monitor series are out.. What about the 07 MIllenia spec sheet?

What is the width of the glass base for the Millenia 200 ? The spec sheet says 5 1/8, but I *think* that is the speaker width not the base width ?

Thanks

For anyone else who would like to know:

At it's widest point, the glass base is approx 9.25".

Went to take advantage of my dealer's 6 month trade-up policy after he finally got a demo pair in (200's and 20 CC). I suppose I should have known that a narrow enclosure speaker would not offer the same depth/musicality of my big-box Monitor 9's. I understand that it's geared more for Home Theater (and WAF) than Music; but was I the only one disappointed on audition??

Kind've lost now - and only have another 6 days to decide... I'm thinking Studio 60's.

OK, I just went to a dealer here in Winter Park FL to purchase a pair of 200's, a 20, and the ultracube 10. I had done lots of research beforehand, but when I got there ready to have them order, I noticed their sign advertised the 200's as $1299. In my research I thought the 200's were msrp'ed at $1198. But the salesman went to his latest pricesheet from Paradigm and reinforced that they were not 1198, but 1,299 and insisted they do not sell any paradigms above MSRP. Can someone please help me determine if Paradigm has increased their price, or if I was taken??? I already paid with my credit card, but I did not yet receive the speakers (just the sub). Also they only gave me a 5% discount an insisted they could not go higher except when the paradigm rep comes (twice a year) at which time they could do 12%.

These guys are the only Paradigm dealer in Central Florida (as far as I know) so i'm wondering if they are playing games with me. Please let me know if you have heard of a price increase, or please give a quick call to your dealer to check - it would be most appreciated!

ps. the ultracube 10 sounds wonderful with my Paradigm Phantoms (temp setup)!

Got tired of trying to hear these speakers. I was told I would get a call when they were in (weeks ago) went by yesterday to see how much longer, well they have been in and gone. And of course the gawd awful sales "guy" is still stuck on how the 20's are for the center channel. I have had this conversation with him to no end. I guess it doesn't matter that the website calls them a LCR speaker too.
I hope you'all like them as in my home town, I will NEVER go the Paradigm dealer EVER again, and I will encourage others to stay away!

My dealer, who I trust implicitly, said the msrp on the M-200s are indeed $1299.00.

Well, Paradigm did finally release the 30/300 series. Not sure why, their specs are almost identical, except for the higher power handling rating, perhaps for use with dedicated amps.

Paradigm Spec List

Now, where are those stands?!?! I have been waiting for them for my 20s.
Yes I saw that. Doesn't make sense , bigger drivers . bigger cabinets, almost identical. Specs . Anyone know the price ?

Tell me about it. I hate having to look at my 20s in the box when they could be all set up with my system! Anyone have any news?

I was disappointed.

I heard the retail on the 300's is $2,000. The 30's are $800.

Millenia owners,
just want to comfirm the XO setting for these speaker. I look at the spec on the Millenia 200 and 20, so I set my 200 to xo at 90 and 20 to 110, is this correct? also, the spec indicated the LFE to be 55 for the 200 and 77 for 20, what does that mean?

This is from a Paradigm price list. Not a guess. I agree it isn't warranted.

Yes, I know they are not floor standing. I was hoping to place them to the sides of my plasma on top of my TV cabinet.

Well, if you know they are not floor standing then you should know that they cannot stand vertically by themselves. They can only lay horizontally with the provided feet or mount vertically to the wall.

Yes I agree the 300 and 30's Disappointed me too . I quess they want us to buy the Eclipse at $1000. each. Theres no reason to buy the 30's at all the 20's are just as good go figure.
