I think her getting the hots for Jim would be priceless.

I think the odds are better than even that this will happen.

I'm just happy that NBC moved "My Name is Earl" and "The Office" to the 8pm slot. Now I can DVR both shows and "C.S.I.".

I was the youngest pilot in Pan Am history. When I was four, the pilot let me ride in the cockpit and fly the plane with him. And I was four, and I was great and I would have landed it, but my dad wanted us to go back to our seats.

Looks like Dwight is ready for tonight too:

THE FALL IS HERE AND SO ARE WE

First of all, "fall" is my favorite of the four
seasons (next to summer and spring of course).

And here is a little known fact: They call it fall
because people fall down a great deal over all the
leaves and branches. It also gets icy later on in the
season and that ice on the puddles gets covered with
leaves and brambles and such.

In my humble opinion they should call it "horrifying
accident waiting to happen" or "trip" or "lookout for
leaves!"

Here are some of the many things that happen in the
fall:

The children of the world, dressed in their best new
clothes from Sears, go to class, with their hair
slicked down, their new eyeglass frames and their
throwing stars hidden beneath their notebooks.

Football season starts. Campaigns get under way.
Deers get ready to get hunted.

AND THE NEW SEASON OF "LOST" BEGINS!!!

What the $^$fjol!!09 is going to happen? Sawyer and
Kate and Jack have been absconsed by the OTHERS and
their mysterious, charismatic leader (who played that
psycho killer from "The Practice") I am on pins and
staples!

I would also like to say a few words about gays.

"Gay" used to mean jolly. Now it means a man or a
woman who likes to make out with other men or women.

Now, according to all Schrutes: Who and what people
make out with is their own business.

My uncle Gunther used to tend goats and there were
some very viscous rumors going around the village.
When he fled the invasion he met a Finnish woman and
they had 17 children. That put those rumors to rest
once and for all.

Judge not, lest ye be a judge.

That is all.

THE DUNDER MIFFLIN STAFF DEALS WITH SOME SURPRISES AROUND THE OFFICE IN THE WAKE OF CASINO NIGHT When Michael (Golden Globe winner Steve Carell) unintentionally outs a gay employee, he stumbles through a sensitivity mine-field. Also, we find out what happened with Jim and Pam. Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, B.J. Novak, Melora Hardin, David Denman, Leslie David Baker, Brian Baumgartner, Kate Flannery, Angela Kinsey, Oscar Nuñez, Phyllis Smith, Paul Lieberstein and Mindy Kaling also star.

This is a running joke that never was. Even though Dwight "found out Oscar's secret" last season he obviously never told any one and only the viewers know. Apparently there was supposed to be a running gag where Michael is always calling Oscar a homosexual in various ways to make fun of him. They were all cut and I'm not sure if they show up on the DVD extras.

PS: This show is now a true ensemble. That is one long cast list and doesn't include the warehouse.

Did anyone catch the promo ads for the Office lately. They are ridiculously soppy focusing on the jim and pam romance. I can't tell if it is a joke or they are trying to attract a few extra soap opera fans.

I thought tonights episode was incredible. One of the best I have seen.

Great season premier episode. I was laughing so hard that I almost choked a couple of times. "I wonder if his roommate knows."

Funny, funny stuff. I also liked the way they're handling the Jim/Pam thing.

I'm glad they haven't lost anything from last season.

I like how they followed up the kiss everyone wanted with a kiss no one wanted. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Hilarious episode. This was the first one I've watched 'live' after getting into the show in the last couple of weeks. I also bought season 2 this weekend, and I watched 'The Injury' tonight as well.

I'm not sure if I've ever laughed so much in one night.
This was a great start to the new season, many funny scenes especially the mug shot of Roy when he was arrested for DUI after Pam broke up with him. It seems anything that is PC is fair game in this show which I believe other shows will not go near and that makes The Office one of a kind as far as comedy sitcoms go and something to look forward to on a weekly basis.

What's the over/under on how many episodes until Jim is back in Scranton and they put an end to this "The Office: Stamford" spinoff. We need him back there to antagonize Dwight!

Same answer as the number of episodes before Stamford is downsized and part of that office merges with Scranton, possibly including a harder working boss that Michael has to learn to work with or under.

That was quite possibly the funniest episode of ANYTHING I have ever seen.

"I'm not offended by homosexuality. In the 60s I made love to many, many women. Often outdoors, in the mud and the rain. And it's possible a man SLIPPED IN . There would be no way of knowing"

How funny was it? I watched it alone and couldn't stop laughing, then 45 minutes later, when my wife got home from work, I watched it again with her and laughed even harder. Amazing. I had tears in my eyes for about five minutes after the alcoholic lady took a squirt of the hand sanitizer and licked it to soak up the alcohol. And Dwight's reaction when Michael asked if he could envision Angela with another woman was priceless. Great start.

I agree with everyone else here, amazing start to the season. This past weekend I watched all of season 2 while on a road trip to and back from Tennessee.

This show is hilarious beyond any other show on TV...

I don't know if anyone remembers, but last season when someone was complaining about Creed's "Old Man" smell, and he attributed it to the Mung beans that smell like death in his desk was classic.

Clearly you have not seen the incredibly funny 'Weeds' on Showtime. Partly because they have the freedom of pay-cable, partly because their writers are inspired and they have a very gifted cast, it's gone places that The Office, funny as it is, can't possibly go. Check it out!

Great, great start to the season. This is the best comedy on TV. I hope it really catches on in the ratings. I would hate to see it bomb. It's just too good. The kiss at the end had me rolling. What a show.

Humor... but the kind that makes you laugh hard. Michael's idiot schtick gets predictable but this episdoe had some great parts all in one epidsode.

And it got really weird.

Agree. I'm just PO'd that NBC moved it to 8:30.... I know, I know... I need a DVR. Just sayin'....

Not to sidetrack, but I second this comment. Currently my favorite show on TV. Writing, cast, story, just all very well done. Office is probably #2 though. Both were great this week.

Creed: That is Northern Lights Cannabis indica.
Dwight: No...it's marijuana.

(From Marc Berman's Friday, September 22, 2006, Programming Insider column at Mediaweek.com )
Primetime Ratings For Thursday, September 21st

Considering the competition, NBC had a respectable opening Thursday. The season-premiere of My Name is Earl finished third at 8 p.m. with a 6.4/10 in the overnights, 8.91 million viewers and a 3.7/11 among adults 18-49. Ditto for the season-premiere of lead-out The Office, with a third-place 6.2/ 9 in the overnights, 9.14 million viewers and a 4.3/11 among adults 18-49 at 8:30 p.m. Of positive note for The Office was growth out of My Name is Earl of a healthy 16 percent in the demo.

Keep in mind that ABC's highly touted Ugly Betty debuts next Thursday at 8 p.m. Should be interesting!

I don't understand how finishing third can be considered a good thing or "respectable." And honestly, I can't believe how many people still watch that "reality" Survivor garbage. I guess I'm just not hip enough. They'll never know what they're missing. I don't know where else NBC could have placed the Earl/Office combo, but looks like Thursday's wasn't the place. Wonder if they'd think about moving them.
Berman meant it was respectable considering not only "Survivor" but the "Grey's Anatomy: retropsective/season intro hour at 8 PM.

We'll see over the next few weeks how the "Earl/Office" combination does against "Ugly Betty".

Just a clarification: Dwight saw Oscar and his roommate but never put 2 & 2 together to realize they were both gay. He just thought he busted Oscar faking a sick day.

(Btw - Oscar played a recurring (non-gay) character on Reno911! this past season.)

Great episode last night. Lots of laugh-out-loud moments, but I loved Roy's mugshot (reminiscent of the Lost girls mugshots for DUI) and Michael's "I wonder if (his roomate) knows" line at the end the most.
Ok I'm trying. Must you be a current or former white-collar office worker to get this show?

Season two, I decided to give Office another try. I bailed after 15 minutes......again
post #29 of 1051
Jones,
I don't know, maybe it just isn't for everyone. To me, it is the best show on TV. I love how they tackle the "politically incorrect" angles. Most show don't have the guts to do that. But I understand how some people might not get "it". So many people love "Lost", but I just couldn't get into it. To each their own.
It's also more than just one liners, there is humor that is character specific. Sometimes obvious, sometimes more subtle. If you don't know them well you won't get some things. In some respects it's like watching Seinfeld or Arrested Development for the first time.
