I, too, had an XBR1 swapped by Sony for a 2. Had it since April with no sign of any problems. Just Had UMR do a calibration and What A Difference! The black level is improved, shadow detail greatly enhanced, and the color is spot on. It's like a different TV. Calibration is one of the best investments an SXRD XBR owner can make. By the way owner's, make sure you turn DRC off. I saw for myself the difference it makes in resolution and fine detail in the test patterns UMR used. Off is an automatic setting (not really off) and it really makes the detail stand out and helps eliminate morie and stair-stepping. He also calibrated my 5.1 system and I thought it sounded great until he got out his analyzer and started tuning. I have Professional JBL reference studio monitors which were purposefully wired out of phase internally to match the entire spectrum for reference sound. Well, this put my rear surrounds and my SPL 1200 subs out of phase with the rest of the system. I had no way of knowing this. We changed the subs 180 and purposefully wired the surrounds out of phase to match the woofers in the reference speakers and the difference in separation and sound localization was astounding. I can't believe the difference. So for any considering ISF calibration and THX certified sound system calibration, I highly recommend Jeff. He has the best equipment you can get and really knows his stuff. I feel like I just bought a new A/V system. Try it, you'll be glad you did!
