Okay, I'm done now. Back to Dex...

I know I should not do this .. but, since I grew up in San Antonio ..

Memphis and Nashville have the best Live music in the Southern USA .. TX is OK as long as you're in or around Austin ..

And BBQ should be pork .. Tennessee, N and S Carolina take the prize ..

On topic ... regardless of what some may see as a weak season, I'm still liking it ..

One thing about a show staple - the Cuban Pork Sandwich. It's really a thing in Miami.
I have personal knowledge from years ago. The small family owned places do it best and
they're very proud of the item. Gringo's can't make it and they'll tell you so. Yum!

I'm getting hungry thinking about it wink.gif

Yeah you're right about the BBQ. smile.gif Music though Texas wins. There is a ton of great bands and artists coming out of Texas and Oklahoma, and its been that way since the late 90's. Its gotten to the point that nearly everything I listen to comes from there.

As far as your last sentence-totally agree.

Texas music? See avatar tongue.gif

They show me love. I'm SPC affiliated or even apart of the SPC. I know the majority of them who live in Houston.

Whoa, I was just looking at my scheduled recordings on my DVR and read the plot summary for episode ten... and it was hella spoilery! Geez, who writes these things?

And a good example of why I NEVER look at those things....

Off topic.

Got banned on a primarily black forum tonight. They were always turning the race-card against me and calling me the devil.
Amazes me how the world is so f*cked up! rolleyes.gif
post #6488 of 6855
What forum was that?
I'm back on. It was probably a "drunken ban" allowing me to get some sleep and stop acting a fool.

Hey, now!

One is never too old to act young and foolish....
Hell, I've made a career out of doing just that....never grown up, never will.tongue.gif

One of the great things about the United States is the ease of moving from one state to another (no papers, visas, etc). Due to that fact, expatriates can take something good from one state and very easily bring it to another.

Sure, you're more likely to find great signature dishes in the areas that those dishes originate from, but if you look hard enough you can find anything you want.

I did go out today and try some "Texas BBQ" at this event:
http://www.woodybeer.com/little/

Not too impressed with the sauce, very plain IMO.
The grilled sausage, OTOH, was excellent....I brought some home.

FWIW, this is THE best Texas (or any other IMO) BBQ to ever make it into my gut:

Unfortunately, the nearest outlet is 4 hours away from my current pig-pen....frown.gif

Cowboy Hats N' Steer Heads - must be BBQ in the place!
Here's our best local (it's way too close) http://www.jrsloghouse.com/

I'll be an hour north of Miami next month. This time I'll do my best to find
a "Cuban Eatery". Gotta be one close by wink.gif

Well, TWC finally settled its little "love spat" with CBS and I've got Showtime back. Spent the last week binge-watching 'Dexter' to catch up. Also spent the last couple of hours catching up on the thread, which was almost as entertaining. tongue.gif Some thoughts:

I think this season is turning out quite well, actually. All this stuff with Vogel is starting to make sense. Her "long-lost" son is the Brain Surgeon, and she's been enabling him all along. So why then has she re-inserted herself into Dexter's life? Is her plan to have Dex kill off most her former patients, or at least the ones her son killed? Will she ultimately try to frame him for all those murders so her son can never be implicated? Is that her ultimate game plan?

Poor Deb. She just can't get a break can she?

Poor Dex & Hannah. Star crossed lovers - doomed, as all star-crossed lovers are. At least they're finally giving Dex a shot at true love with his soulmate/kindred spirit. Just in time for the inevitable tragic end. But who will end them?

North Carolina: the new Texas. frown.gif Can't take it anymore; I'm outta' here in another couple of months. But barbecue? Yep, we got the best, no question about that. It's the pork, stupid. (no offense oink) smile.gif

My pick would be Deb.
Considering the current circumstances, it would be appropriate and karmic.

I didn't realize there was much of a difference between the Carolinas....confused.gif

The phrase "from the frying pan to the fire" probably applies. tongue.gif At least gas is cheaper there (and my cars drink a lot of it).

God's country, eh? I intend to take you up on that someday!

Backatcha', too. Movie of your choice in the RiverRat Theater™. smile.gif

archiguy -- Glad you agree with those of us who have liked this season's Dexter episodes. I think they have been a hoot and that the posts to this thread have been equally entertaining.

If breathing, I'll be here....or on the Big Island.

It would be a pleasure to act as a tour guide for you and Ms. Arch.smile.gif

Never been east of the Mississippi, but I have always wanted to take a tour of the eastern half of our nation in a motorhome.
I'm hoping in 2014 the N.J. Grand Prix will come off, thereby giving me an excuse to do just that.

Although she has never been, Ms. Oink ain't wild about the South and is a little reluctant for such an expedition, but I could probably convince her.wink.gif

BTW, please keep us up to date on the RRT's progress with pics.

Holy f*ck! It's all crashing down eek.gif wow.

Quinn, is he serious? LOL biggrin.gif

Masuka's daughter, showing up for work high on weed. Being late was a bit too cliche, not ever stoner is late. ha

Dr. Vogel frown.gif

Also, I knew Hannah was going to be in trouble taking Harrison to the ER.
Well, I guess the DVR episode summary was pretty accurate: "An important person in Dexter's life is murdered before his eyes." mad.gif
post #6506 of 6855
This feels like a soap opera to me. Too much coincidence. The US Marshall just happens to hear Angel talking about Dexter leaving? Harrison just happens to fall on the treadmill? Good thing the writers made sure we knew that Harrison wanted to be on the treadmill so this didn't come out of the blue (maximum sarcasm). Hiding Hannah in the open? Has to kill Oliver? I guess I shouldn't rage about this stuff because it is going to happen. I'm going to watch the last two even if I have to hold my nose.

Line of the night when Oliver tells Vogel that he can tell she's scared because he's killed a bunch of people where Vogel is quivering and shaking in her boots and acting weird. I would have noticed myself but I haven't killed 10 people.

Have to agree with daryl Z - limping into the last 2 epps of the entire series.
Bla Bla until the final 3 minutes and then time for a little drama. Very Little

The other problem I had was the nurse at the desk. If she "knew" it was Hannah, why didn't she have the police come while Harrison was being treated? And how is it that that particular U.S. Marshall was the law enforcement officer who showed up?

Can't believe I didn't mention the worst thing: Ghost Harry is now used like a stage prop to push the story whereever. My wife and I both thought that his actions in this show were utterly inconsistent with previous actions.

Dexter has NEVER been under more pressure....
He's cracking up, which is really THE story of this final season.wink.gif
