Traditionally, the Firing Squad was reserved for those of a political background (soldiers, royalty, etc).
It was considered a more dignified death.
Hanging was for common criminals, which is why it was not popular among condemned royalty, soldiers, etc.
As to the chair, it was initially conceived as a more "humane" method for getting rid of criminals.
The pigpen is hoping the last few frames of this series is Dex, strapped in the chair, staring in to the camera.
That leaves "heroic death", perhaps saving Harrison or The World's Greatest Babysitter. I'd like to see Angel and Matthews find out about him at the end. And Deb has to answer for LaGuerta's death doesn't she? Deathbed confession?
Not bad, but we swine have a tougher
ending to a tough series.
