I do. It's much better than the DD version.

I also own it. It's one of the best reference tracks to show off your gear.
Yup, got it and it's probably the best DTS track I've ever heard. Absolutely incredible!
Me, too.

Also JAWS and GALAXY QUEST.

Get the DTS if you can
I have it, unfortunately for those of you that don't, it's out of print.

that said, there are copies available on eBay or Amazon (used mostly, some still new and shrink-wrapped), but they're not cheap.

Its as awesome as "WOTW" in DTS, but a much much much better movie~!
Yep. Got it the day it came out. Some of the best reference audio out there.

The full bitrate HD (or Blu-Ray) version will of course be even better, so just sit tight and wait awhile....

I can say with confidence that I think if one were to come out...be it DD+/DDtHD/DTS-MA/or plz, plz, plz PCM...I would pick up a player just for this movie.

Shouldn't the DD+HD or DTS-MA have the identical end result as the PCM? If those are truely lossless compression schemes, they will decode to the equivalent PCM.

That can be said of practically any DVD, but nobody knows how long it's going to be and the OP might not want to wait that long. It's definitely worth picking up on regular DVD for the DTS track alone.

I have the SPR DTS....

yes...it is awesome....

Show the first scene to your friends....

They will be blown away if they don'e have the kind of equipment you have.

My favorite show off DVD also.

Do you not use ebay a lot or something? Don't scare this guy for no reason, sheesh. When buying this sort of thing from ebay you should verify the UPC of the disc with the seller, it takes like 30 seconds of your time. You can get exactly what you're looking for the first time every time.

The OP should disregard this as FUD, as generally is anything people say in sweeping generalizations about "all ebay auctions".

He is the original poster, dude.

I picked up my copy at Half Price Books for like $5 bucks. I love going there you never know what treasures you can find.

Back when SPR first came out on DVD I bought the DD version because at the time the Sony A/V I had didn't do DTS. So now I have both versions, and the DTS is king.

Here is a brand new copy from DVDworldonline.com for $13.99

This cover artwork is slightly different from the original release cover, has the DTS version been re-released?, or did they make the change some time ago.

A couple of years ago the DD and DTS versions went OOP when the 60th aniversery edition came out. IIRC, there was a two and three disc...the three disc had dts on it.

The one I got from BB wasn't, but you never know

Go here if you want to buy it.

As good as the dvd was, there will probably be an HD DVD edition released soon with a lossless audio track on it.

ive gotten a copy of it from amember here, an original copy for $20 bucks including shipping , really and awesome movie as well as sound and I even think the picture looks great, most movies when in action packed scenes, the camera likes to jump around alot and make things blurry , however in this movie the pictures stays sharp and there is no motion blur during the fast scenes

I also got a copy of the haunting ,

I listened to it at reference level on my svs pb 12 plus sub , and it knocked of the blinds off

Did they do a different mix for the dts track ?

If they did a different mix and a Dolby True HD version comes out for one of the high definition formats based on the Dolby mix then people might end up being a little disappointed....on the other hand if it's the same mix only the dts version's bass and surrounds are higher in volume so as to give a placebo effect of being better then thats ok and easily calibrated for.....anyone know if 2 different mixes were done for this film for DVD ?

Yes. It's a known fact. SPR had two mixes. A DD and dts. The Haunting was the same. As was WotW.
And a 3rd mix for the Laserdisc. Anyone who says the Dolby Track stinks hasn't heard that version The DTS is slightly better than the DD LD but I attribute those to mix differences rather than DTS being 'a better format'

They were released at the same time. The DTS used a different master, so makes any comparison irrelevant.

I have a feeling that was the theatrical direct transfer,[standard parctice for LDs] and the dvd's got the "remixed for home" versions, of course the DTS was "sweetened" to "advance" the format no doubt by shareholder Spielberg's request, just like the JP DTS LD.
