Ok guys,

You asked for them, so here ya go! Here are all of my current settings for the Pioneer 6th and 7th generation plasmas. All settings are for a HDMI/DVI connection. They should be ok for component.

Please keep in mind that these settings are not from God. This means if you do not like them, you do not have to use them. Enjoy

Lotta work, Dude; we really appreciate it!!

Are these user settings with no changes to the SM?

How did you arrive at these? Just curious....They look great on my 5070!!

BTW, as you stated a few months ago, the toned down break in settings really look good; notching up the contrast/brightness is all I need.

Thanks again!!

Correct, no SM changes.

The settings are derived from my ISF settings. I did not post the actual settings as I respect the ISF community. They are visually 98.5% of the original ISF settings

Thanks D-nice. Greatly appreciated.

This info is very helpful.
Thanks for making it so easy for the new guy; I had compiled it from other threads a few months back when I was a noob

As for the ISF issues, I think "ball park" settings are fine as no two TVs are the exact same, so your specific calibrated settings are not likely going to be perfect on all screens anyway.

Thanks again for the work D-nice.
With your break-in settings it was very helpful for me to painlessly and confidently break in the display, and now that I am over 300 hours, the "after" settings look great on my 4360 combined with both my OPPO 971 and SA8300.
note: I still use "save2" and will probalby keep it that way.

Yes and no, however I'm not inclined to go into details. Perhaps another day we will touch on this.

As a noob that probably knows just enough to be dangerous, I am especially appreciative of all the effort that went into these settings. Thank you DNice. Your effort is most appreciated.

Thanks D-Nice.

What is the recommended break-in period? (I have a 940 with about 30 hours)?

How do I know what settings are appropriate for my particular DVD player (NAD T 562)? Should they also change after the BI? If setting myself, what should I look for/avoid?

I recommend you break-in the plasma for 200 hours.

To calibrate your DVD player, get a copy of DVE. I do not recommend using a DVD player to calibrate for break-in unless that is all you will be watching for the first 200 hours.

Thanks D-Nice,

I do have one question though, which is creating confusion for me this morning. You say do not use these settings with a DVD player on the breakin settings for all sets...what do you mean by that...don't use those settings on your DVD player, or don't use those breakin settings if your using a DVD player?

Thanks again for the thread, great post.

Dustin

Don't use the break-in settings with a DVD player. They are designed around the HD colorspace. If you attempt to use them with a DVD player the pictures will look extremely pale.

If you want break-in DVD settings, just use the posted dvd setting (if your DVD player is listed) and set the contrast between 22-24 and the color 3-4 notches below what's posted.

Thanks -I'm watching 95% HD.

Great thread D-Nice! Awesome work!
I am fairly new here. Does the PDP-5060HD have a log that records its hours in use? If so, how is it accessed?

Also, once the break-in period is over, what are the "after" settings? I am using a moto 6416 pvr III for HD cable box (HDMI) and an Xbox 360 for a DVD player (component).

This thread is great. D-Nice, I really appreciate your time and effort. Thanks again.

Best,
Matt

I honestly do not know as the 5000ex is a PAL plasma. My settings are for NTSC/ATSC plasmas. Doesn't hurt to try.
D-Nice - thanks for all the great info on the 70 series! I noticed in the 5070 thread you mentioned that Pure Cinema affects 480i and 1080i material. Since I am feeding my 6071 480P and 720P from my cable box and 720P from my DVD player should I continue to set at "ADV" or would you advise another setting? Also - can you comment on feeding the 70 series 480i vs. 480P as well as 720P vs. 1080i?

I will play around with the settings but I thought I would check.

Metz, if your cable box allows it, set it to send 480i, 720p, and 1080i. This will allow the Pioneer to do all of the scaling. You can keep your Pure Cinema setting at ADV as the algorithm is already coded to disabled itself with progressive material.

Thank you for your reply,I have tried both settings suitable for the FH1 (5000EX)
The results using pal are to heavy in colour. What a pity,Ionly wished we had someone like you in the uk.
