I am slowly working through all the information on this thread.
For those that might be interested...For my component connection I had the contrast set all the way up (63). I'm assuming I have a damaged light engine from past posts, and perhaps my high setting of contrast was the culprit. I'm not sure, but wanted to offer that to those that are interested. My brightness was lower...24.
I had DFI on, and sharp edge on. It was on natural setting, with perfect tint off.
I just checked the "service menu" settings, and had
GGH - 919
GRH - 960
GBH - 1024
GGL - 961
GRL - 1024
GBL - 817
I tried adjusting these values by pressing the "up and down" arrows, but they did not change. I also tried the volume (up and down) and channel (up and down) buttons. Nothing seemed to change the default #'s. What am I supposed to press to adjust these?
BTW, I used the DVE DVD, and did all except color calibration which I did not have the equipment to do along with the DVD. I'm a DIY, are there any kits I could buy that would cost about the same as having a professional calibrator do it. Perhaps I don't understand and the calibrator only messes with the service menu, and not the other settings (contrast, etc.) that are easily accessible. I just know the easily accessible items you can change (DFI, contrast, brightness), seems to have a large impact on picture quality, and depending on the source of the video signal (and connection), there seems to be a large variation. In other words...I pay $500 for a calibration, but over time, would need it done again for new equipment, etc.??
I would appreciate any insight on this. I'll contineu to read through the thread. Again, thanks in advance. BTW, the television is being picked up tomorrow. They say they are taking it away, and should be returned in about 10 business days. UGGHHHH!!!!
