TH50PHD7UY and TH50PH9UK - Japanese HDs & Blu-Ray HD Movies PICS - Page 5

hi KMR, if you're planning on browsing lots of internet, leaving static images, work on MS Word, play extensive amount of video games then I would lean more to the Sony LCD.

The plasmas can certainly be used for PC/Console gaming and web browsing, but with more care. Try not to leave static images for too long. If you did, you will get image retentions and you would want to wash them off by running some DVD movies at full screen. Burn is very unlikely, after a thorough breakin, but I wouldn't abuse it.

Dammit, what is prettier? Your pictures, or the girls in your pictures. Christ man, nice work.

hmm both! pretty gals and pretty plasma pictures.

Gals pics bring more smiles to us.

Yes, please, stay with the girls. Hah!

Anyway, how are you getting these feeds? Downloading? I need to get me some of these for my plasma.

Yeah, IamAnoobieCheez's pictures sold me. They may be just screen shots, but you really can get that beautiful, punchy picture from these things. I got a 42" for my bedroom. I am seriously rethinking a new projector and just getting a plasma for my home theater. I may have to adjust my seating for a smaller screen, but what the hell...
Keep those reports coming from Veridian 4 !

Thanks for the comments, tsteves. I'm very happy to hear.

Yea I too would think you should consider the plasma for HT. Just recently I went to see a movie James Bond: Casino Royale (oh my god that Bond girl is so pretty) I watched it three times in the largest theater room. I loved that movie. But I don't quite like the way projections provide in PQ. The picture was a bit too blurry, not razor sharp, crystal, fruitie pictures like my plasma.

More pretty pics on the way.

I got me a new equipment.

here!

TH50PH9UK

I try to avoid taking "close up shots" because anybody can take lesser quality video, take close-ups of it and they come out good. It's a rule of thumb and this practice is not challenging. So I try to take "long-range distance shots". It's more challenging that way. I know our prestigious member Ken Ross likes to see long range shots.

But here it is anyway....

I got too many HD videos I don't know where to start. I'll just have to go through them one by one.

Hey congrats!!~ my friend Richard.

I'm sure you will like the benefit of the increased resolution for High Def movies! HD-DVD, Blu-Ray, and Japanese HD stations are best.

I'll be purchasing a Blu-Ray PC Drive later on and play HD movies. I will take screenshots of those later in this thread. It won't happen any time soon, but hopefully around new year. But for now, I'll be taking screenshots of Japanese HD videos like mad.

I know you liked your ED set but you will really like the 9UK for many reasons.
It will be interesting to hear your take on it.

Great impression.

Here comes my beloved 9UK. Oh don't worry, the pic for the 7UY coming right next. And a pic of them both taken.

Again, the 9UK fights back!

btw, guys, please ignore the reflection you're seeing on my 7UY. That's because I waxed the thing so much. I don't mind it, but some people don't likeit.

9UK.... no more comparisons. I'm tired.

More good stuff coming tomorrow.
noobiechee, just wanted to point out that the only differences im seeing between the two sets are marginally better black level on the 9uk in dark content and the fact that the 7uy seems to be dialed a bit toward the cool temp setting. the 9uk looks a little warmer. have you noticed this or are my eyes decieving me?
Thread Starter
Yup, that's because I changed to "Cool" Color Temperature setting on the 7UY.

I knew the difference before even taking the pics, because the real-time viewing shows the same way.

Anyways, let me say it again, the increased black levels do not only make the dark scenes darker, but ultimately, and most importantly, it also makes the picture look "richer", giving deeper color depth and increased textures in the bright scenes. This is what RichB has been saying as well, from his own experience and knowledge. Only seeing how to get black in the dark scenes doesn't interest me, it's the picture richness and textures that impresses me. Almost every pics I posted do tell this, and in real-time viewing. This is why the black levels should not be taken so lightly - I realized this more and more from my observations.

Panasonic should give you a free 9UK, I think you've sold at least three in this thread and I myself am leaning real close to getting one too!

N-Chees,
You are the man when it comes to the Panny 9UK or the 7UY. Bruzzi's web may give a lot of good information regarding the Panny, but your post with pictures has done more to convert potential buyers to Panny brand period.

Thanks again,
Sam

Well, actually, I have influenced a lot of people and they endup buying the 9UK. My PM box got exploded..

I agree with you. I think Panasonic should give me some credit here.. I did put a lot of effort on this thing. Send me a new Panny!!~ heck... Send me a PF9UK!!(1080p). I'll put up good pics and review for ya.

Thanks Plasma_Plasma. I appreciate your comments. I'll keep it going as long as I can.

Do you have any other material you could use to show besides what you've done so far? Maybe show some DVDs with dark scenes, like Alien(s)? Maybe something with a natural setting too? Keep up the shots! This is becoming one of my favorite AVS threads.

Should get my Panny HD commercial panel Friday, 22 December. But, with upcoming holiday and all, it may be the day or 2 after Christmas. Still feeling sad about giving up my EDTV. It was really a classic! The 480p panel was excellent on SD content the past several years.

Yes, I already did. It's a Alien Vs. Predator though. This was when I first got the 9UK, and connected to a Sony laptop(GeForce Go7400), plus I was breaking-in, so I was using stretch mode.. but here.. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...&&#post8443457

I could take some Standard DVD movies, run them, and take screenshots... I know the DVD performance is very good on the Panny. At some point it was jaw dropping for me. I'll post some when later on when I can.

I know...... the Panny EDTV is famous. It has earned its reputation. Well, sometimes you just let go... it hurts, but.... you know could've still kept it. I'm gonna keep my 7UY. I have put too much love on that thing.

Hey, IamAnoobieCheez,

I noticed in some of your pictures when you first purchased the 9UK you placed it on a desk and propped it against the wall. I may have to do this temporarily and was wondering if it was secure? Would the weight of the plasma on the lower bezel be harmful? Thanks.

hey p3Orion, no it wasn't well secured when I first set it on top my desk. I put a towel underneath(shown in pics) to get better grip. It's not safe, but it can be set like that for temporarily. It's at your own risk.. As for the weight pressure isn't a problem, also with the 9UK being lighter(81 lbs) it's not all that bad. I would get something to keep the 9UK from sliding forward when you lean it.
Cheez,

Those are excellent pictures. Would you mind sharing a little about how you are able to get such good pictures?
Cheezy, you think this would be a good tv for xbox 360. Im trying to decide between this and Samsung HL-S5087w DLP tv or several 40" LCD's. I dont have digital cable or a box so i would have to buy an external hdtv tuner and an antenna for hd tv but thats not a big deal i guess. I dont have any video cards or whatever you used for your computer so Id be using my 360 to play the dvds through RCA component inputs. Just wondering if the 9UK would be a good option.

Hi swifty358,

Yes the 9UK is a good option to play xbox360 on. The gaming experience will be ultimate. just be sure to do break-in first. With LCDs you don't have to worry about breaking-in..

I finally bought the Sony BWU-100A Blu-Ray PC Drive.

I paid $$$ and no regret.... Money well spent.

First of all, pics..................... This will be going into my expensive HTPC.

It's mounted! Looks good.

Screenshots of a Blu-Ray movie will be posted in few hours.

First of all, It's not so easy to get it to work the way I want.

I couldn't get both screens to work in high-def movie.

That's right, no dual screen, BUT I think it's because my 7UY is connected via SVGA.

The HD-DVD and Blu-Ray movies require full digital, DVI connection for example. My 9UK works fine, because it's on DVI-D.

Movie - The Devil Wears Prada

The motion handling is quite good. I see no artifacting when the subject is moving fast.

hey cheezer, more nice pivs. congrats on the new BR drive, but damn ouch that is a hit in the $$ right now. looks great though.

did you see where Richard K bought a new panny 50 9uk too after standing by his 42" ED panny for so long. as well as being a great panel for the PQ, the 50 9uk has gotten to be such a great deal he just couldn't resist any longer .

and i think some of your comments and great pics helped him decide too........ keep em coming.

Nice Cheez!
Just shows you that Panasonics keep getting better as the content gets better.
