hey thanks.. I'm sorry for the late reply but I didn't have much time to explain with detail.

It's really the combination of everything, both TV, its setup, camera, and techiques of taking the pictures.

- 1080i/p video source
- Sufficient amount of contrast and sharpness on both PC and TV.
- Decrease in brightness by few notches in PC. Brightness untouched on TV.
- Expensive cables (*helps a little, but every little thing adds up here and there*)
- Direct connection and short length cables
- Ultimate quality digital camera - Something that has large CCD sensor that is able to capture colors superbly. I use Fujifilm FinePix F30, which is number one rated in Japan, and is the only one that comes close to, or rivals the SLR class high end cameras.
- Most importantly, I do this in controlled lighting environment. The amount of lights in the room and the amount of the lighting being emitted by the TV makes very critical factor. All my pics are done by manual adjustments on the camera. Shutter speed, aperture setting, exposure setting, ISO setting, focus setting, all had to be manually set depending on the lighting conditions. The camera is set on a tri-pod. Every camera is a little different(especially the ISO) so you will have to try different ISO, aperture, exposure, etc til you get really good pictures and comes closest to the real-time viewing. The picture resolution setting in the camera is generally good at 1024x768 but no more than 1600x1200. Also before taking the pictures set the camera back further - some 8~ 10 feet and use the optical zoom to fit the screen. Part of it is my sensitive - magic fingers.

Thanks for the explanation. I'm a self-professed hack when it comes to photography, particularly lighting issues. I've got a nice camera, Canon EOS 20D, and some good lenses, but I have all kinds of problems with indoor photography.

Cheez,

I have a 50-8uk for a year now, and it still blows me away!

Great HD pictures!

Do you sub to dbs, or cable?

Thanks..

The 8UK is a beast.

I don't have any cable services nor Dish. There are too many stations that I hardly watch and the video quality is crap.... so I feel it's not enough for me to subscribe it. But I think I'm gonna be renting Blu-Ray movies.

Cheez,
Great shots!
I've been thinking of doing the same with my 8UK, can you elaborate a bit on your audio setup?

I've actually got both of those, but in separate HT systems. Let me know if you have any questions.

How close do you sit? Is 50" large enough?

Thanks for the offer.

I have an official statement. I have sold my 9UK!........ to my family.

So now I'm back to single monitor setup........ my beloved 7UY.

I helped them setup the 9UK at their home. I tried testing running the Japanese HD and again, knocked my socks off. This TV will be used mostly for DVD movies.

But they got no sound. They are no hardcore audiophiles though. I'm in the process of assisting them with an audio solution. If needed, I will certainly ask you, and the other member who helped me in the past.

On either TVs I sit 5 feet away for PC gaming.

On either TVs I sit about 9 feet away for SD contents.

On either TVs I sit about 7 feet away for HD contents.

So yes, it's variable depending on what I watch and what I feel like doing.

The 50" feels fairly big at aboved mentioned viewing distances, but I would like to have a 65" for 9+ feet viewing distance. The shrinkage-effect comes to you pretty quickly when you own the 50" for a bit. At first it was overwhelming, but now I feel they are like little tiny winnie toys.

I would like a 65" TV plzz! Send it over to me. Thank you.

You sold your 9uk?

Any particular reason? I do think two plasma TVs in one room is a bit overkill, but any reason you chose your old "lover" (hah!) the 7uy over the 9uk?

I am excited? Just more like curious hehe. And, my late post... eh, sorry, I just haven't had time to thoroughly search the forum.

This place is huge, and life is hectic.

IamAnoobieCheez,

I am curious, when you were considering purchasing a 9UK did you look into the Pioneer 507cmx + Key Digital card? If so, why did you purchase the 9UK over the 507cmx? You didn't mention why you sold the 9UK (I am not asking ) so if you plan on purchasing another plasma, I wonder if you would consider the 507cmx/Key Digital KD-PC2 combo. I know the 507cmx is quite a bit more, but assuming they were equal in price, and you had the decision to buy a plasma now, which way do you think you would go? Thanks and hope your 9UK is happy in its new home.

After reading the new release information about the 9UK and RichB's experience with the 9UK having dramatic increase in black levels, I decided to go with it. I strongly believe that the lastest gen Pio still does not come on par with the latest gen Panny.

I would surely answer to you. My family needed a widescreen TV and it will be setup in very lit open environment. If I sell my 7UY to them the panel will be too reflective, due to the waxed panel. The 9UK hasn't been waxed, plus it has more anti-glare than the 7UY. The 9UK has really good anti-glare coatings onit.

I don't think I'm going to get the Pio in the future. When I buy my next plasma it'll be more likely the Fujitsu model..

I removed the TY-42TM6D DVI-D blade from the 9UK and put it on my 7UY. I will be posting more pics for the 7UY. The 9UK has already been setup at my family's house in the loft, in second floor. I will be posting some pics of that setup as well...

Please give it a rest! This thread will die. Please set to "ignore" each other.
This is a great screenshots thread. Not a tech thread with a problematic language barrier.
And just so I am making sure that I am not "poisoning" your thread, I'll delete my earlier comments. When you reply to my comment, I'll delete that as well.

I am thinking I am being a bit opinionated, but I also think that alot of people around here are the same way. And I hardly feel that I've overstepped any boundaries in other threads. But in this case it's true. So I apologize for that.

9UK pics!

it's not fully done yet as you can see, but this is what it'll look like as far as how the plasma is setup. As for the stereo, they're still working on it.

The opposite side of the plasma.

hey Johnny, as for the reason for selling my 9UK was due to much better anti-glare on the 9UK. My 7UY has less anti-glaring, and on top of that, because I waxed it, it's even more reflective. My family's house is very open, and very lit environment. During the day there is a lot of light coming through so the 9UK is needed. I don't think they'll be happy with my 7UY, but I love her.
Good good. Understandable.

Why the waxjob by the way?

(I never get to ask that question much to guys.)

And yea, that set up is prettyful. And yea, can't wait for that blu-ray Japanese goodness haha. Very lucky.
