30 Rock in HDTV on NBC! - Page 14

Last night was my first 30 rock episode and I guess it was the odd one out looking at teh feedback here. I too thought it was only marginally funny. I saw the twist as soon as I saw how serious Alec's character was taking it. Anyways I'll lilkely still casually watch the show. I mean it is on right before the office so I might as well.

Agreed. Best show on TV.

Tina Fey has jumped the shark. Her success has given her a big head and it shows in the writing of this most recent episode. Anyone else notice how much her character had changed since before ther writers strike? Much more like Tina Fey than Liz Lemon. I'll keep watching for a few of the other characters, but the whole line-up last night was horrible.

Even the best show on TV has a bad week. This episode bored me. It wasn't quite as bad as the Office was last week, but still not remotely up to the high quality of past 30 Rocks.

I thought this weeks was pretty funny. Especially with the old timer telling Kenneth his old TV stories.

Kenneth's reactions to some of the things he said were pretty much all I found myself laughing at in the episode.

I'm still laughing over the 911 parrot!

I found this weeks show fair at best.

I went back to the "baby" show on my DVR, far better.

My wife and I laughed more during the first 6 seconds of MILF Island than during entire episodes of some other comedies (Earl, for example.)

"We no longer want to hit that. Get off the island!"

Not content with hating just in The Office thread, huh?

Nah, I'm not content with being a fanboy of a TV show. If it's good, I post that. If I didn't care for it, I post that as well. That's what the forums are for. The real question is why does someone else's opinion of a show you watch bother you so much?

I've watched every single episode of 30 Rock multiple times, and only twice have I not liked it. This most recent episode was one of them. As for the Office, it's definitely been on a downward spiral, and 30 Rock smokes it in terms of creativity and laughs.

The way you post your opinions don't provide any insight and don't promote any discussion. You just post that the episode wasn't funny as if a thread were a poll. All we can say is "Sorry you didn't find this episode as funny as we all did."

I also found it quite funny, I guess I haven't watched it enough as yet to know just how good it normally is. Got a few laughs, mostly with Kenneth and the old guy reminiscing about the old days ('sandwich girls' was a hoot), and most scenes with Alec and Tracy I find hilarious. Looking forward to the new ep.

I can't take Alec Baldwin as a serious actor any more. Every drama I've rented with him in it has him speaking in that deep ominous tone which is supposed to be chilling but just cracks me up now. His "evil" speech in the rain to two NSA employees in "Mercury Rising" was especially unintentionally funny. He has a line in it that would be a perfect joke for Donaghy in 30 Rock.

He held his own in Glen Gary Glen Ross. Some heavy weight actors in that flick and his brief appearance was both powerful and believable.

I think most of Alec's problems result from his divorce and the nutty things said on both sides.

He's very good in this series.

My wife and I laughed so hard while Jenny was telling Liz about "true love": sneaking down to Burger King to poo, wearing make-up to bed, hiding alcohol in perfume bottles; that we had to replay it twice to hear it all. And Donagy getting Tracey to do the PSA telling the brothers not to vote was wickedly cynical!

But his walk-in "Put. That. Coffee. Down." performance was only about five minutes long.

He was believably evil in "Malice" despite that movie being overloaded with characters, but I think he's hit the stage of his career where he has been type-casted so much that he's become better at parodying the characters he's been playing than playing them. Fortunately he's very good at that.

I still find his performance in The Cooler to be downright chilling.

Mamet writes his lines exactly like that.

I'll have to check that one out. It sounds better than the Alec movies I've been renting recently.

Just watched last night's episode. I felt last week's was "off" their usual amazing quality, but last night's has proven why its the best comedy on TV. Loved the slapping, loved the Amadeus theme, loved the Clay Aiken.

*edit* also re-watched last week's episode. While I found a lot of parts to laugh at, it just didn't have the cohesive feel of the best episodes.
Yeah, this episode was back to normal, and I agree about the previous week's episode. Will Arnett is always great and I was cracking up at the Amadeus thing.

Tracy/Amadeus: Do you have it?
Frank/Salieri: No! You're going too fast!

And it's so like Tracy to decide to make a porn video game as the thing he wants to leave as a legacy for his children.

"My son forgot his music stick." cracked me up. Dad of the year, for sure.

this episode was brilliant. although you know there was no way Jack would get the job (no comic gold in that well), it was just great how it played out.

The salary face slapping cracked me up.

Back to Alec Baldwin for a moment, I think that he is a great actor and has remarkable range. He's nuts, of course, can't keep his mouth shut, is a political extremist, and will never win a Father of the Year award. Nevertheless, he can certainly act.

Baldwin is a very funny guy, as he shows each week on 30 Rock. But he is arguably even better in dramatic roles. I think that his turn as the horrible Blake in Glengarry Glen Ross was a performance for the ages. In fact, I can't think of a bad performance he has ever given. He is one of the few Hollywood actors whose stuff I will go out of my way to see.

I loved the crank about The Federal Reserve!!

I haven't watched 30 Rock much because, for a long time, there was just too much other TV that was competing for my attention. But this week my daughter urged me to start watching again. I did and enjoyed the show.

I, too, thought that the blows struck when the salaries were revealed were a funny touch but the high point of this week's show for me was the send up of the classic movie, Amadeus, with Mozart's Requiem playing in the background. That was inspired!
