PS3 Pre-Order Info (Toys-R-Us) - Page 3

From PS3 forums....there are some scans of the big book that include the ps3.....do a search on google for "tonictaz October 29th"

It was the only link that came up for me that showed both wii and ps3 pre-orders

Personally I am still hoping that it dont happen on the 29th as I will be out of town but it 's looking more and more that way.

Wow, very interesting if it's legit. I mean, it definitely looks legit, but somebody could have gone to great lenghts to make that look real. We've heard about the Wii preorder on the 29th over and over, but I don't think we've heard anything about the PS3. All I can say is that we need to try our best to keep this to ourselves as much as possible, because if this news gets out everywhere, you will need to get to your Toys R Us so early it will be ridiculous. I got to GameStop at 5am the day it went down, and there was 4 people already waiting in line at 5am, and this was on a Tuesday morning. Just think about a freaking Sunday morning, if everybody knows about this. You figure at some point GameStop and 1up and Kotaku and all the normal places will find this and do stories on it. To ensure getting a high enough preorder, you might have to camp just like this was the actual launch, because that many people could be in line so far in advance. Heck, I could see people waiting in front of TRU's at 9pm the night before

Ya this was the first legit thing I have seen saying ps3 also next sunday.....still holding out hope that they will push it a week.

I saw the pic of the ad too. There are going to be so many Wii people at Tru on that date its going to be crazy...also there is rumor that Elmo Tmx are going to be available on that date too...Tru is supposely hording 100s per store of Elmo Tmx for the big book sale....

I wonder how TRU is going to handle the lines for the people waiting out front, considering it will be people waiting for 3 different kinds of things? You'll have the people waiting for the Wii, the people waiting for Elmo, the people waiting for PS3. I wonder if they will allow people to get pre-orders for all 3 items, or will they have to choose just one of the 3? If they have to choose just one of the 3, then it will likely work out much better for us, cause you'll have parents waiting for Elmo, and all the Nintendo fanboys waiting for the Wii, and of course the PS3 people as well. Some of the Ebay profiteers that don't get there early, will think everybody is waiting for PS3 and they might get discouraged and leave! :p

On, the flip side of course, if they allow each customer to preorder all 3, then you will have people arriving even earlier to wait in line than what they would be doing otherwise, lol.

Wow. It looks extremely legit. Too legit to quit, even.

I guess I'm gonna have to go to a TRU after my halloween party. What do you think people will say when there's a guy that looks like Carl from "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" camping out in front of TRU at 2am? Haha

Looks real but two things give it away, first it is blurred so you can't tell how it was cut and pasted but the biggest is it shows you can go and reserve the system all by itself. ToysRUs is the biggest bundler of all. They have yet to let you buy the system by itself for over 10 years on any of the launch systems. In fact they are so bad that when PS2 did the slimline PS2 they went and bundled those with 3 games and a controller for 2 months.

My local TRU manager confirmed the 10/29/06 PS3 presale yesterday.

I reserved and purchased two PS2's from Toys R Us in 2000, and I was not required to purchase anything except the console.

Mine confirmed the same today. So the question is, with this presale and the elmo dolls on the same day, what time should we go camp?

Are you in texas?

Do you know how many PS3 preorders your ToysRus said they would have?
My local TRU just confirmed PS3 pre-orders on 10/29. When you call ask for a manager. Most of the employees seem to out of the loop.
Are we talking in-store, online or both?

I completely agree with you. There's no way that toysrus would let these go by theirselves. Which means the scan could be a clever photoshop. It's not clear enough to tell one way from the other.

Anywhere from 2 to 5 units. So this means you better get there early. :D
post #80 of 724
Holy crap thats crazy! If store personell are allowed to buy then there is going to be little chance to get a unit.
im going out of town for the weekend of the 29th!
I called the local TRU stores...both of them, and both of the store managers said they are not going to do a PS3 preorder on 10/29/06...

Normally, isn't TRU allotted similar number of units that a Target would get? I would think it would be much more than 2 to 5. Maybe they won't get quite as many as Target, but still, if they don't get double digit numbers, I would be very suprised by that. Later this week, I'm going to try to get in contact with the managers of the local TRU's and see if they have allotment numbers per store. I'm also going to try to find out whether they will allow somebody to preorder a PS3, Wii and Elmo all at once, or will they have 3 seperate lines, or how exactly are they going to handle the campers. I have no problem camping, I just want to know that if I'm spending X amount of hours in the freezing cold, will I actually have a chance at one. With the GameStop preorder, in my area, we were able to find out the exact number of preorders available for each store, so if a certain store was only going to have 6 units, and there are 6 people waiting, you aren't out there in the cold waiting for nothing. If they seriously are only getting 2 to 5, then camping would be absolutely pointless, cause I'm sure some Nintendo or Elmo lover will be there way before I can get there.
Now that I think about it, my toyRus had about 14 360's. I would imagine they would have close to the same amount of PS3's.
I highly doubt that is a fake. I can almost guarantee that is really going to happen. However, that being said, the reality is that the advertisement will be out for a day before the preorders start. I got to Gamestop 2 hours before and I was number 3 out of 16 who got the system. I'm not sure how long I'm going to wait. I really didn't need to wait 2 hours...last time...but considering the advanced notice...I'll probably get there at 6-7am (They open at 10am on Sunday).

Just remember...what the employees say really means nothing. I had a guy at an EB Games near me deny the PS3 Preorder at 8:45pm the night before they came out even after it was already annouced on the website.

Okay first, just trying to help my fellow users and if you want to believe me you can or you can doubt that is fine.

I preface this by saying I used to work at TRU and I still know 3 store managers and 1 district manager. I talked to them today and the current story is that as of now there will be NO preorders on 10/29/06. This is subject o change based on if Sony gives a confirmation of the units they will be sent for launch. The advice they gave me is to call or stop in Saturday night to see what is the final word. As of now corporate has already sent an email with an attachment to print simply saying the following

"Unfortunately Sony has not confirmed the number of PS3 units for launch to Toys R Us. So we will not be taking pre-orders until the number is confirmed. Sorry for the inconvenience."

This could change by Friday, so as stated earlier call your store manager and find out for sure because as of now they will not be taking orders on the 29th. Also, I have confirmed the big book ad but the PS3 will be bundled with 3 games and a controller.

Just for comparison, last year most TRU had 15-20 360's at launch. TRU is hoping to get that many PS3's but they know the alliance with Nintendo and the Wii could see Sony cut their allotment. This is the main reason why they are not going to have a preorder on Sunday, unless Sony confirms a number with them before Saturday.

I will follow up Friday once I hear more from these store managers.

:werd: I missed the EB/GS release. I called every day to two stores for about a month. The day before, I called both stores around 9:15 (they close at 9:30), and I was told "no clue yet" by both, which is what I had been hearing for a month.

Ever since that day, I've been frequenting this website :) I'm gonna get TRU, gotta make some calls!

1080P, do you know if any other retailers actually got their allocation numbers from Sony?

I am kind of surprised we have not seen online bundles show up, as of yet. We are within 25 days from launch day.
