I just bought a used PB12-NSD subwoofer but the guy forget to put the power cord in the box when shipped. Is there a certain power cord I need to use for my sub ?
Hi Ransac
Any suggestions here on a cord i was told it came with a 8 ft 14 guage cord what did yours come with
Hi,
I'm looking for a new sub and the SVS PC12-NSD seems to be the one. But I would like to know what extras i would gett if I buy the PC12-PLUS version? Is it worth of the extra money? Is there something else better than the power of the sub(bigger and more powerfull)?

The same. I think all the SVS subs come with the heavy gage power cord. It really isn't needed, but it doesn't hurt. It just eliminates the possibility that you are not able to deliver the needed current to the sub's power supply when it needs to go all out. The power cords that come with a PC are fine (18AWG, you can find 16), but you can check Radio Shack, Best Buy, or Home Depot to see if they have the heavier gage cords. Or find one on line or ask SVS for a replacement or have the seller ship the one that came with the sub. It was his mistake not to ship it with the sub.
Not really sure how do dial in this PB12-NSD sub with all these controls
Set the gain to about the 10:00 position. Set Phase to 0, crossover switch to disabled. Connect the sub/lfe out from your receiver to the left or right low level in on the sub.
On the receiver, set all speaker channels to small, sub to yes, crossover to 80 (or whatever), if you have it set the LPF for LFE to it's highest value.
Run the auto speaker setup on the receiver, then use an SPL meter and the test tones from the receiver to set the channel levels to taste. Usually 75dB on the speakers and 78dB on the sub. Now you're at a good starting point to tweak to taste.

Now is a confusing time to make this decision. Amps and prices are changing. There is some discrepancies on the web site (the PC-NSD says new amp, but the site still shows the Bash amp).
Best to discuss this with SVS until all the new information is fully disseminated.
Traditionally, the Plus has more finish options, variable tuning, more power, better driver. Is this worth what looks like will be almost 2x the price of the NSD? That's up to you.

Ransac,
Thx for the info it sounds like thats pretty much where im at on the settings and I do have the seller sending me the original but im in doubt with it he said the cord was like 3 feet long. I think I will call SVS and have them send me a replacement
I don't know if anyone noticed this but their website has been updated. Ultra13 with sledge 1000w amp. I wonder what the difference would be, probably not much. But a digital amps is nice.

No more amp issues that were seen with Bash, knowing where gain is REALLY set, limiters and filters set to the ragged edge and then left just inside of idiot proof, all stuff impossible with the BASH amps.
These are not the first amps with LCD displays, but they ARE the first ones to fully implement full blown pro-level power and DSP tuning on the consumer marketplace AFAIK.
I for one, will be upgrading both of my PB13U's so I will give a full report .

I'm leaning toward upgrading my amp as well. I don't see myself getting rid of the PB13 for a long, long time and it might as well be at it's best, as long as the new amp is not prohibitively expensive.
I got my ultra last week too , sent an email to svs for exchange my amp. I think I have to pay more for new amp ( they increase price with new amp). Man I check my emails every 5 minute. Just like a big boy waiting mom come home with new toy
Dang, maybe I should have waited, I got my PB12-Plus with the Bash amp last week.
I think it's $100 for the sledge amp. I have an Epik Dragon and wondered if the SB13 would make a difference. If not, then I see an Ultra13 in my room in the near future.
Just FYI. I asked Jack if these new amps would be made available for existing PB13 Ultra Bash owners to upgrade, and how much of an improvement would be realized?
Here is Jack's reply from late July 2010:
"[SVS - JackG] There will be new Ultra amps later this year and they'll be a drop-in replacement for the current amps. Final pricing hasn't been set but they won't be cheap as they're more expensive than the current amps to make. It certainly won't obsolete the current amps, though, and the performance difference (from an absolute SPL standpoint) will be very similar."

We are not close to offering an upgrade program yet. All of the Sledge amps in-house are dedicated to new subwoofer builds. When more amps are in-house and supply catches up with demand, we'll launch the upgrade program.
The current introductory pricing for the Ultra subwoofers with the Sledge amp is signficantly under MSRP and won't last long-term. So the price differential between current Sledge-equipped subs and the previous BASH-equipped subs should not be construed or assumed to be the eventual upgrade price for a Sledge amp - these amps are very expensive.
We haven't worked out all the details yet, but we'll likely have a multi-tier pricing structure which takes into account how recently the subwoofer was purchased, with very recent purchasers getting the most preferential pricing.

Please work *quantity* into the multi-tier pricing structure as well...
They just sent me an email , they won't exchange new amp even I bought 12 days ago and I want pay more for new amp.
Last time I checked, businesses don't make money by giving things away. When you bought your sub, that was the amp that came with it. You could have waited if you wanted the new amp so bad. Why do you expect them to give you a free amp? Is your current amp defective?

I need to just breathe. Whatever it is going to be I will pay it and I am sure it will be fair. Thank you for this update.
