Same thing here. Even though my english is probably somewhat shaky sometimes, it's amazing how much I learnt by reading and writing in forums. Anyway, as I said, "tactical" invokes images of doors kicked or blown open for me, so I'd say a tactical sub is a compelling description. I can just picture the SWAT team scratching their heads: "How will we be able to open this door captain?" "Watch and learn, son" *proceeds to set up a PC13-Ultra*.

Hi Guys

Does anyone remember what the MSRP was on the older PB-12 Plus from 2010 with the Bash amp? I know a guy selling one, and i'm not sure if his pricing is off. I've seen quite a few for sale the last few months and guys seem to have a tough time moving the Bash models.

Hard to say, a PB2 was $1200.00US but in Canada end-up to be $2100.00CDN after shipping and broker. Once they got a Canadian dealer, the price was $1600 plus shipping and tax, and still came to $1950. Pretty close.
The bigest thing is I never regret my purchase.

I would say slightly
I do not know about the new PB12Plus compaire to a PB12Plus/2.
But for me between the PB12Plus/2 and the Ultra was about 5%. I call-it, chasing the White Rabbit

its a 3-4db increase across all fequencies. its easily worth it if you want that output. especially the liquidation price.

How do you like the finish? It looked sharp in the pics.

Very nice. The Piano Black sealed the deal for me. Not a mark on it anywhere. I may have to move it behind the sofa, wife thinks it looks silly up front.

It was never 2100.00 CDN. I'm almost positive Sonicboom had it on for 1399.00 at the time. And shipping is a non-issue as they are only a 35min drive away.

Hay there Beerhunt.

I think you would be very happy with a single pb12nsd, I forget the exact size of my room and the space connected to them, about 18x23 feet and I have a stairwell that leads from the basement to the main floor etc.

I found a single had nsd had enough power 95% of the time but I just added a second one last night (I havent even calibrated it yet)

I know SVS will give you a discount on a second sub, I got 5% off my second purchase and it was 6 months apart.

PM me if you have any other questions, Im off all weekend

When I bought this one the price $1200 US, our dollar was about low $.70, the shipping was from the US and you got tag with a nice brockeage fee.

Why buy from SVS direct when you could've saved a few hundred ordering from Sonicboom? They have been an SVS dealer since October 2005. Great bunch of guys. And top notch customer service.

I was wondering if anyone can compare the Paradigm DSP 3200/DSP3400 Subs to the SVS PB13-Ultra?? I have the Paradigm DSP3400 up front and the 3200 in the back and was wondering if there is a huge improvement from my current setup to say selling the 3200, moving the 3400 to the back and putting a SVS Ultra up to the front sound-stage??????? Would it be worth the $ to do so?? Any info greatly appreciated!

I had the DSP-3400. I LOVED it. In fact, if i hadn't got such a good deal on my PB12 Plus, i would've coughed up the cash for a new 3400 again.

Because, when I did purchase that sub, Sonicboom was not a dealer yet!!!
The drivers were the original 12.1, then SVS offer to change them to the 12.3 version for $100.00 ea (about 2-3 years later)for the original owner and I went for it just to match the second one witch I got from Sonicboom ( great service by the way).

I would say it would be HUGE improvement if you did that.

The DSP3400 would be comparable to the PB12-NSD.

Maybe on paper.

But i had the PB12-NSD for about 5 days, and i sent it back for the PC12-PLUS. The Paradigm DSP-3400 was a step up from the PB12-NSD imo. It just didn't have the output that the 3400 had.

There is no doubt the PB13-ULTRA is the way to go. If i could free up the coin. i'd have one.

I'd be surprised if the 3400 actually has a lot more overall output especially in the 20-30Hz range. When I auditioned all the Paradigm subs, the 3400 rolled off very quickly below 25Hz in-room without PBK.

Ummmm....

It's possible the 3400 just seemed louder, as i only had my ears and no way to measure the output. Also, the PB12-NSD was new and not broken in like the 3400. I'm not sure how much of a difference that would make, but i would think the 3400 had an advantage being broken in.

In the end, i ended up with the PB12-PLUS and i'm very happy. Though i will always wonder how much better the Ultra would be........some day i'll get one.

how does sub A have more output than sub B in ground plane measurements and not in a room?

like Warpdrive mentioned, i would put the DSP 3400 in the same performance category as the pb12-NSD. the ultra is two steps above that so there is quite a difference. wether your missing out depends on what kind of measurable performance your getting in your room now and your listening habits.

There is only one right now (I believe). So, if indeed that is the sub that you have in mind in first place, then go ahead and buy it. Looks like a great opportunity. I guess you already check pics and comments on the cosmetic condition of the sub and you don't have issues with that.

I'm not expert, but my understanding is that for a room like yours the PB12 will be just great. But of course, you don't want to make your decision on a random person (me), so I would encourage you to contact SVS directly. Yes....they are open right now (Sunday's afternoon), you can use the direct chat or call them directly. For sure, they will provide a more educated advise based on your current room, setup and needs.

Once again, based on what you posted so far, I think the PB12-NSD will be great for your HT and later (when you have your dedicated room) you can add a second one. As you mentioned no need to spend money now or go crazy with something you don't need.

My two cents!
