G70 VPH-G70 Service code Menu Special

I"ve just posted this as a way for G70 owners to find the service codes if they don't know them.

Service code - enter enter up down enter
Special service code (after you have entered into service code and are running later firmware) enter enter left right enter

The search engine is screwy. When I search for "G70" this thread does not show up.
The reason I posted this thread was because I spent the last two days looking for the way to get into the special service menu. I never did find it but figured it out. Now after posting this I searched for "memory" and find a post with this information in it. Again "G70" while part that thread. "*G70*" Didn't find it either.
I tried all kinds of search variables and keywords with no luck. I hope this will help others from going through what I did.

You should also note that the "special" service code only applies to G70's with late firmware.

Does it allow G2 adjustment with AKB off? That would be sweet.

The special menu allows you to copy, move, and delete memory blocks.
You do this by going to "menu" than "input info" and then clicking the right arrow on the remote. This can be pretty handy for setting up new memory blocks.
It also allows you to select memory blocks for display without regard to sync frequency.

The special menu does not allow G2 adjustment. In fact if you have firmware that is new enough to use this function you can't do G2 adjustment at all. G2 adjustments were disabled in the later firmware revisions.

On this G2 thing, Sony must have felt it was unnecessary with later firmware or they wouldn't have eliminated it. Or maybe it was a Monday, and the engineers all had Saki hangovers, and decided that downgrading the G70 would be a funny joke to play on upper management.

Thanks for pointing out what the "special" menu does because I couldn't figure it out.

I assume if I run the same resolution/refresh rate all the time I really have no use for such memory management.

Still,.. It's always fun to learn something new about the HT gear.

Hey I figured this was a good spot for this, but my G70 isn't responding to the enter-enter-up-down-enter comand. The buttons work but can't get into the service menu for some reason. Talked with Curt about it but he had no idea unless the main board was bad but he didn't think that cause it functions just fine.
