So the impact of a lens hood probably didn't affect your situation. That being said I would think blueish blacks would be affected more by the blue bias setting. I know when I had my set calibrated that number went down by 5. I wonder if your new set had a lower service menu setting for blue bias than your previous set. Anyway, glad to hear that your replacement set is working well. Everytime I watch a Blu-Ray disc on my SXRD it reminds me of why I got into this HDTV obsession about 8 years ago with the purchase of a Toshiba 50" 4X3 HDTV. My, how things have improved since then!
Actually the problematic set had bluish-blacks all over, not just the lower right corner. It was an April 07 build. The one with the better (non-bluish) blacks is a Feb 07 build.
I actually still have both sets as I arranged an exchange overlap to make sure the replacement was better. So, I could check the blue bias settings for both sets in the SM if you tell me where to look.
Note: I always let TVs warm-up for about an hour before checking PQ, color, adjusting settings, etc.
Btw, with your A2000 did you see ghosting in the lower center of the screen when looking down at it such as when displaying text or crosshatch test screens? I've seen it on several A2000s and A2020s in stores. I never noticed it on my 50XBR1 but KewlK says its there. Do you see it on your XBR2? Any idea what causes it?
P.S. Oops! We're in the XBR2 thread. We can move over to the A2020 thread if more appropriate.
