ONKYO HT-R330 Problem

post #1 of 3

Hi --

I am a newbie to this site. I have an ONKYO HT-R330 receiver which was part of the Onkyo S580 5.1 surround system.

As i turn up the volume, the receiver will shut down. i turn now the volume and restart the receiver and it plays for 1-2 seconds and then shuts down at a lower volume than before.

Any ideas re what the cause and fix are?

thanks, MODS2

I've had the same receiver for about 10 months now with the point5 system and no problems at any volumes.

What speakers are you using?

Are you using the same wires that came with the HTIB system, if so I'd recommend moving up to 16ga no matter if that is or isn't the problem.

Check your wires (disconnect and reconnect) make sure it isn't shorting out somwhere.

I had the same problem. the way I corrected it was by;

1. unplug the receiver for about 1 hour
2. disconnect the speaker wires
3. disconnect the audio inputs to the receiver
4. plug in the receiver
5. run the volumn all the way up til display says max (repeat on each function)
6. the receiver should run w/o shutting down, if it shuts down, repeat steps
7. turn volumn down and go ahead and reconnect inputs and speaker wires

I got this info off Onkyo's website and it worked for me. I haven't had any more shut off problems
