The meridian 861 is as well but have any of these companies released an hdmi 1.1-1.3 card yet? I am supplying 450 watts per channel with my amp which is also very neutral. From ADA.

Hi !

I tryed some differnt processors before I went for Integra RDC 7.1, and in my ears Integra fits M&K perfect, for instance it sounds much better than the Lexicon MC8 I compared it aginst.

The HDMI 1.3 will come as a upgrade to RDC 7.1 in the fall (what I heard).

How much are upgrades? What does the hdmi card offer now? Is it just a switcher or does it have 1.1 audio? I still wish it did not look like a receiver.

I think you just change the card, and this is copyed from there site: The unique card-based modular design lets you choose the inputs and outputs for your particular needs - like component video outputs and HDMI to take your audio and video experience to heretofore unimaginable levels.

I have sound today from HDMI.
Are you getting pcm uncompressed audio? Is it 5.1 or 7.1? Can you apply THX to it?
Thanks Fischer. I have heard mixed reviews on the clarity of the Integra research. Some say it is not as clear as say B&K ref 50 S2.
My favorite piece with my M&K's and Amp so far has been a Meridian 861 which is upgradeable as well but cost alot. My next favorite is ADA but no HDMI.

I'm happy with my Parasound Halo C1 and M&K S-150Ps & MX5000.

I am very demanding with what I want, so if I am doing this I whant it to be as good as i can be.

I have the S-150PK THX ULTRA 180 Watt Self-Powered Speaker as frontsystem, SS-150 tripol Self-Powered Speaker as surround speakers and one MX-350 MK II THX ULTRA sub.
Pre Amp: Integra RDC 7.1
Projector: JVC HD1 ( in US: RS1)

And some thought about what I whant is a 2:35 constant height setup, about 3,50m wide screen, 7 seats( 3+4 ), and allso have the possibility to readjust the seats so we can use tha room for moore than just sitting and look at the screen (play poker, play games etc, be social !)

I know that we have some realy talented and experienced members here, so I would be moore than happy to get some help for planing and design this homecinema.

Back to my previous question!
And one moore, what´s the limit of you talk about room size, with my speakers?

Hi, I am a new poster needing help

Hoping someone can help. I have a LCR 750 THX set up. Blew all (3) tweeters and I have been looking for replacements. Model Z11 tweeters. Not much luck.

Found someone selling Z10's on ebay for $200 each. $600 for a lesser driver Oooouuuucccch.

Does anybody rebuild? Marked "Made in Denmark". Could they be SEAS or DYNAUDIO. Might there be an OEM supplier replacement model?

Any info would be great.

Thanks,
Bruce
You can probably buy used 750's less than buying those tweeters. I don't want to know how you blew the tweeters in the first place since M&K's are very capable speakers.
Any M&K owners using integra? How is the combination and what have you compared it to?

Your best bet is to contact the European distributor AS Global in Denmark, or maybe the UK distributor.

Even though your not asking, it was a lesson well learned. Inadequate A/C power regulation got me. Rolling blackouts a while back caused amp malfunction. It popped and blew the tweeters.

For those of you looking to replace M&K tweeters, it might be worth your time to find the voice coil for the tweeters and fix them instead of replacing them. I posted this previously in the thread but will repeat it. I have a pair of the pro version of the tripole surrounds. One of them was a bit off right out of the box; M&K went under before I had a chance to get them fixed under warranty. I narrowed it down to the tweeters, took them in to Madisound Speakers (only a few miles from my house), and they had the Peerless voice coils in stock for them. Only cost a few bucks each. I bought 10, I think I can even replace the voice coils in my S-1C's, but I haven't pulled them out to compare. The tweeter just pops apart with a small screwdriver, and you can replace the voice coil in a few seconds. My speakers now sound the same. One of the original voice coils had a bit of felt or rubber gasket that had a flaw in it from the factory.

Don't know if you are still looking, but I have an LP-1 that you can have if you arrange shipping costs. Just retired a pair of S-1As and no longer need the passive crossover. Even has the old Wilshire Blvd address on it. I think using the Volkswoofer in your system is a great idea. I have a mix of old and new in my system too. My pride and joy is the Phase Linear 400 driving my surround speakers. The four M&K Bottom End 1Bs are a close second! Let me know on the LP-1.

I have several more questions if you don't mind, but before that I want to let you know that I played around with it last night and did the following:
- Connected the Volkswoofer directly to the receiver
- Used the M&K satellites as my rear surround and connected it directly to the receiver.
- Placed the Volkswoofer in the corner of the room

I tell you, I can really feel the Ummps and Booms of the low base in the room compared to the HTIB (Sony HT-DDW685) sub that I originally had. There was a point that I actually had to lower the receiver volume in the middle of the movie.

I was quite pleased, however when there are loud points on the movie, I can hear some rattlings on the volkswoofer speaker. I had to set the bass level on the volkswoofer to between 1/4-1/3 to get rid of the rattling. Any idea where this may be coming from? Is this a sign of a bad speaker? Please say "no"

My receiver (Sony HT-DDW685) only has one subwoofer output and I have this connected to the Volkswoofer Right channel. Excuse my ignorance, but how does this affect the functionality when I don't have anything connected to the Left channel on the Volkswoofer, without the LP-1S?

It's very hard to find the LP-1S, specially with M&K closing up. I looked all over the net and here to no avail. I found the manual for the LP-1S from the and the illustration shows connection to the Pre-amp and Amp. Are they a requirement to use the LP-1S since my receiver doesn't have a pre-amp output? How do I set the receiver to 80Hz?

Your statement below is very much encouraging. I really hope I can use these speakers to its full potentials. As I mentioned above I'm already experiencing a big difference from what I had before.

Thanks

Yes, I'm still looking and definitely interested. PM me the details.

This unit was actually ran with Phase Linear, but the original owner moved to California and took the Phase Linear with him while leaving the M&K. I'm really loving this speaker and would love to be able to keep using it.

Thanks

Didn't M&K exclusively use PEERLESS for their drivers?

My M&K S150s had Vifa tweeters.
So what is the diameter of the plate of the tweeters? jei-cs might be able to find a more cost effective replacement...

What is the crossover?

I saw this item on the Stereophile website;
http://www.stereophile.com/news/070907auction/

I guess that should erase any doubts that M&K is "coming back," except that someone may buy the trademark and put out whatever quality of merchandise they feel like selling--which is what happened with KLH, for example.

Looks like I'll be in Chatsworth on Thursday.

Anyone planning on attending?

What does the $500 deposit do? and what is that 10% premium? Never been to any of those before, but I wouldnt mind checking this out...

The catalogue is up. I love to attend but being across the globe that ain't happening. I would love to pick up some of the Powered speakers to complete my system and some spare tweeters etc. Wish this was an online Ebay style auction

Hi all, believe it or not, I'm new to the forum. But I've been seeing signs that I should post. My name is Chris Hagen and I was manager of engineering and director of quality at M&K at the time of closing.
I designed some of the models, did the bills of materials, oversaw quality, and was instrumental in repair. I could help people with problem speakers or other issues. I can aid anyone planning on participating in the M&K auction as well. Bear in mind, I will charge for repairs and auction services.
Also, I am in no way representing M&K or Ken Kreisel - I am only trying to help the fans and customers of M&K. Nor do I have any M&K data or documentation, so do not ask for schematics or the like.
Feel free to contact with your questions.

It's been a long time since I've been to an auction. However, I believe (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) that the $500 is just to ensure that only serious bidders attend. It's refundable. I'm assuming that the 10% is their commission. So if you win a bid at $100 then you pay $110.

Your repair knowledge would definitely come in handy. Please email me with your contact info.

Also, what sort of services could you offer at the auction?

Hey, Chris, wassup, Dawg??

Chris and I worked at Harman together, and in 1993 he did a splendid rush redesign of the Citation THX speaker system for me. Chris is a really good guy, and he has no agenda here other than helping you M&K owners. Please be fair and reasonable with him, because knowing Chris, he just wants to take care of you and make you happy.

And welcome to the AVS Forum!

Thanks for the reply Chris. I will try to make it there around 9am to I can see what they have before bidding starts.

Hi Chris,
If my S-5000THX speakers ever fail you can fix them? I have 7 of them. That would be great.
