Looking for suggestions for a good center channel speaker to use with a pair of M&K S-90's and a MX125 MKII. I've got Paradigm ADP-170 v2's in the rear, if that makes a difference. I know its best to match speakers.. but M&K aren't easy to find...and buying off ebay makes me nervous when it comes to stuff like this.

Thanks!

I have 2 perfect center channels for you, a pair of S-90's in good condition with some cabinet holes from mounting and a couple chips but it is all cosmetic and they sound great! I want $200 for the pair which is a steal. Grills and foam are all excellent! Can't be a matching center plus another!

That actually reminds me that I need to dig out my S-90s to try them as surrounds. ( maybe as a center too).

and for anyone with a need for S-85 sats, I have 2 pair plus an S-85c (center) that I plan on parting with - all in good shape, a few beauty marks here and there, but nothing major. I planned on putting a second system together but decided to flesh out a sonus faber hometheater system instead. The S-85s certainly hold their own against their larger siblings. ( S-125, S-100B, and others).

as for $200 for a pair of S-90's? that's definitely a deal..
Post some pics if you get a moment. hell, I'm even tempted at that price

Hi there I am from the UK & I am looking for a supplier in the US who can sell some M&K 7.1 in-wall & in-ceiling at a good price.

Also would welcome any help with regards to which model of M&K in-wall & in-ceilings to go for.

Please send me some good suppliers & good advise!

In the uk you are gonna find it impossible to find m&k speakers unless you go second hand. And importing speakers will hit you with a fairly large import tax bill . There are some on eBay ATM but they arnt in wall. You can how ever get mk variant from http://www.ideal-av.co.uk/ they are happy let you demo the stuff they sell

Hell, I am selling 3 S-5000's that are better than S-150's. I don't know why the S-150's were more popular but the 5000's are awesome especially with proper amplification. They can take much more power than people realize.
Oops I halved the price.

Hi all!
I have a couple of V-1b subs and yes, I'm the original owner

Anyway, I'm trying to pair them with some new speakers, not M&K. These are pretty old and don't have an adjustable crossover. I used to have a passive high pass filter, I think it was an LP-1, but it was also preset at a certain crossover frequency, I guess it was designed specifically for the V-1b and the S-1b's (which I also used to have---LOVED them - I had a 5.2 system all S-1b's and V-1b's )
So, what I need to know is what is the preset crossover of these older subs and is there a way to adjust it short of buying a newer amp (I see that www.apexjr.com has the VX1250 amp, that should work).

My guess is 80Hz, but I don't know. Anyone know?

Does anyone have ideas as to where I can get stands for my S150's? I've found a few LDM-125 stands but it doesn't look like the stands I used to have.

I would prefer not to build some stands but I can if needed.

Any ideas or DIY plans?

I saw the stands for the S150's on eBay a while back. Those are going to be really hard to find. Other than that you may try Soundanchors.com. They make really nice custom metal stands and they are manly as hell and somewhat reasonably priced.

At $300+ per stand, it looks like I'll go the DIY route. Besides, it will justify all the tools in the garage!

For another topic, I was looking to get a new receiver for my 150's. Thinking of

1) Onkyo 809
2) integra 50.3
3) ????

If I got the onkyo I could add an Emotiva amp down the line. 100% ht. 3,000 cu ft room.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

For anyone with M&K Speakers, a separate amp is definitely the way to go. They are power hungry. http://www.accessories4less.com has B-stock Denon units that are very high quality as well, such as the AVR-2311 or 2310. I currently own an Integra pre/pro, have owned a Denon, and separate amplifiers. Whatever receiver has the functions, bells and whistles you need, is the one you'll want to buy. Definitely make sure it has pre outs though. I prefer the Denon units because they don't get so hot. I don't know if you've ever owned an Onkyo or Integra, which is the same as Onkyo, but they get very hot to the touch.

Brunnerboy,
As far as the Soundanchors stands, are you looking at the 4 post? Yes they are really expensive. The single post stands are $301 for a pair at 24" tall. I had a subwoofer stand made by them for an M&K KX-12 sub and it was a solid bastard. Don't know if that was out of your price range also but I thought I would let you know anyways.

I'm considering selling my secondary M&K system. its a full S-85 system with Center and MX70 Sub. I'm thinking around $1100 Shipped for all 6 speakers in the U.S
Has anyone seen anything related to pricing that I may have missed that makes this a bad deal should I decide to post them at that price? The stands are not a part of the system of course. ALL SOLD! as of 12/14/11

At cedia this year mk sound unveiled the new x series subwoofers. Mk sound has always made a good sub, although they have not really changed their designs for some time.

It looks as though the new series employs completely new drivers, but apart from that does anyone have any other details?

All I get out of the left and right front is a constant buzzing when power is applied. I disconnected the audio cable but the noise is constant. I tried plugging them into various outlets throughout the house and I get the same results. I'm afraid they may be busted somehow. I need help in assessing my options.

My setup:

S150PKML
S150PKMR
S150PKAC
SS-150 Surrounds
MX350 Sub

Denon AVR3805 Receiver

I'm afraid to replace the Left and Right with another brand and induce some kind of mismatch. If it costs as much to replace as it cost to buy in the first place, I'm really out of luck. Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the same problem I had with my S-150PK. It was an amp issue. E-mail Ken at his web site to see if he can point you in the right direction. You might even do a search in this thread for my posts to see a write-up of my issue and resolution.

Hello MK owners. How does the Atlantic Technology 4400 series stack up against the M&K 750s or 950s?

Thanks,

Looong time M&K owner here, since 1996. I have a had a surround system based on S125 mains with a S125C for the center and S85 surrounds since then. Later I added the tripole surrounds, S150 I believe is the model when I went from 5.1 to 7.2. The system is currently in the bedroom for now.

Does anybody know what the rated sensitivity of the S125s is?

They were never officially published, but have been measured at about 88 db 1 watt 1 meter.

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone has had success swapping/replacing/sourcing replacement diaphragms on the newer M&K speakers. I know the surplus inventory is now gone, but I thought that there may be some other drop-in solutions out there to repair a Z11/Z15/Z16 tweeter. Thanks!
