a buy it now for a set with a couple of small blems came up at a solid price, so I had to grab 'em The S-1c now join the growing and somewhat ridiculous collection of M&K speakers I have.
I Definitely seem to have an addiction thing happening here. but there are worse things a person could be addicted to I assume.
as to your situation with S-150THX and and S-100b not being Timbre matched , believe me when I tell you . Side by side comparison for well over a week with my S-150THX AC vs S-100B . they yielded the same results. there may be a slight dispersion difference on the S-150THX because of the foam appliques ( find a set of the foams, apply them to the S-100b -if you must) but they are the same speaker. and should have no difference in sonic performance.
Not much different than what makes the S-1c and S-150THX perform at their peak. I've driven the S-1c with low output Class A amps ( Monarchy Audio SM70) and Megawatt Class AB amps ( McIntosh MC7300) in both cases they performed quite well.
Grats on the speakers! Yeah, in the end the auction worked out. Sorry I didn't get back to you, it's been hectic.
Yeah, there are far worse things we could be addicted to, but I'm not sure my wife agrees :)
And the S-100B. Yes, seems to be more of a dispersion thing. I feel there would be a tad difference in sound in the upper register, and perhaps that's the foam doing that. I'm using it as a center, so no biggie.
So far the K7 are working for rears, but I feel it would be smoothed out with S-100.
