INHD & INHD2 to merge on 1/1/07. Possibly renamed Mojo?

From Multichannel News:

In Demand, supplier of pay-per-view and on-demand programming decided to merge its two HD channels, INHD and INHD2, into one Jan. 1, president Rob Jacobson said.

Some cable operators already dropped INHD2, which shows some exclusive IMAX movies and concert events that will shift over to INHD.

What will the new channel be called? That will be announced sometime next year, Jacobson said. But there's a pretty good likelihood that INHD will be renamed Mojo. That's the name given to blocks of original HD programming that currently run from 9 p.m.-midnight Wednesdays and Sundays, featuring such shows as Wall Street Warriors, Dr. Danger, After Hours with Daniel and London Live.

In Demand is looking at adding a third night of original shows and possibly a fourth of Mojo before it changes the name of the service itself, Jacobson said.

Mojo hmmm? On one of my ota stations here in Richlands N.C. like on our 35-2 it has a screen saver showing as of now that says Mojo coming early 2007 with a cube twisting in a circle. Could this be it and being shown ota local. Seems weird that a channel like Inhd would be shown ota. I was definitly thinking what I was seeing was going to be a Mexican channel lol.

Update dang on that channel on ota it says qubo coming early 2007 not mojo. Well should have known lol.

Qubo is a children's network from NBC.

When I hear mojo, all I can think of is Austin Powers getting his genitals drilled out while frozen in ICE. That and the bottle breaking at the end of the movie.

Perhaps the channel will have nothing but movies and shows about "players" score'n with babes while a 24/7 Barry White sound track plays in the background.

Oh ok lol well I guess my little boys may like it then when qubo comes on air. Wish dish would go ahead a put Inhd on though.

I think that MOJO is the lamest excuse for a network name ever!! Please reconsider.

Also sorry to see INHD consolidate to 2 channels. Even though they quite often had repeat shows on each, many times there were good shows on both channels at the same time.

I agree about Inhd and Inhd2, sometimes they did have two good programs running. Here in Atlanta, on Comcast, we lost Inhd2 for MHD. I think all they run is the Bon Jovi/Sugarland Concert and a Kiss re-union show.

Better than "MyNetworkTV" or even "The CW"

I got MOJO Baby! Yeah........Hmmmmm, I just don't like that name for a channel! Almost like that T-shirt everyone wore in the 90's "Johnson"!

Perhaps, but then you don't need to actually have all your programming In-HD

The plot thickens:

Comcast May Launch HD Sports Channel
The channel would feature hockey and golf.
By Phillip Swann

Washington, D.C. (November 8, 2006) -- Comcast is considering starting a new High-Definition channel for sports, TVPredictions.com has learned.

The channel would likely feature high-def broadcasts of the National Hockey League from the Versus channel and tournament action from The Golf Channel.

Comcast owns both The Golf Channel and Versus, formerly known as The Outdoor [life] Network.

The nation's largest cable operator may launch the HD sports channel by year's end or in early 2007, according to one source close to the situation. The addition would be part of Comcast's overall plan to expand its high-def lineup, with more HD networks coming early next year.

"I think we'll be adding a new HD service from Comcast that will be a compilation of programming from Golf and Versus to start," said the source.

Another source said the HD sports channel is not "definite, but it's likely." Both sources were unsure what the channel would be called.

One reason for the launch: In the past, Comcast (and other cable operators) have broadcast NHL action and other sporting events on INHD 2, However, In Demand, the parent company of INHD and INHD 2, said this week that the two channels will merge in January. So cable operators will need a new channel to broadcast special event high-def sports.

The Outdoor Life Network changing its name to Versus has never made sense to me.

This is actually old news. Comcast was originally counting on the Thursday Night NFL package, along with the NHL, to jump start the proposed sports channel. As we all know, that quite didn't work out.

The name change had a lot to do with the Outdoor Life Network increasingly moving towards indoor sports.

Hopefully this new HD Sports Channel will also carry my Regional FSN stuff too. It sucks that I couldn't see the Tigers this summer or the Wings/Pistons currently. How many other Comcast areas have their regional sports channel in HD?

We do in Chicago.

FSN HD Detroit should be available in a few days on Comcast.

They were trying to get the NFL for Versus. This other sports channel is a new thing.

Where did you get that info? I've been buggin my account exec in GR about this since this summer and he keeps telling me that he has no information.

I will worship the ground you walk on if this is true.

Edit in: NM Ken H, I just saw the info in the Detroit Local Info thread.

I'm geeked that it should be on when I get back from the U.P. in a week :-)

MHD Channel is like your at BestBuy watching the rerun loop of the same concerts over and over and over until you want to barf!

In this day of IPODS when people carry around a library of music in their shirt pocket to throw this excuse as Musical Concerts with unending rerun material is just a huge waste of HD Bandwidth. If you have so little friggin content place it on HD On-Demand - not on a full-time HD Channel to be seen until your sick of it (which doesn't take long with some of the crappy artists and at least with an IPOD we choose our music and these guys throw a hodge of a few you Love and the other makes you wonder does anyone like this crap - untalented disgusting looking people that look like they're homeless and living in an alley and took up instruments? Most cannot touch the artists of the 60's-90's which is why they still earn livings whilst perhaps getting ready for a walker.

It becomes a wasted channel with no original content especially when the reruns are almost daily after a month it becomes something you purposely surf past with the same concerts- should be called the Mitsubishi Tatoo Music Channel as they seem to be one of the only sponsors to this mess.

Here on Time Warner Houston INHD had the MOJO logo already in the upper right on some of their programing

Two nights a week INHD shows a block of programming that they call MOJO.

Cox RI has announced that INHD2 will no longer be carried as of midnight, December 31st. No indication of any replacement.

They normally don't.

INHD is now advertising the merger of the two channels.
I spoke with a TWC customer-no-service rep this afternoon. While on the line, I asked if she knew what, if anything, would be replacing INHD2. She didn't have the slightest idea (I don't imagine she even knew it was going away), and said check back maybe around the middle of the month.

How often are they running this? I've been checking off and on since reading this, but haven't seen anything yet. Is it running on both channels? There's nothing on inhd.com yet, as far as I can see.

I only saw it once. I don't watch those channels much these days.

Ok. So it's January 3 and I still see the INHD logo on some programs. I have also seen the MOJO logo on several programs. What determines what logo is used? The first time I saw "The Poseidon Adventure" the MOJO logo was used. The following airings used the INHD logo. I am watching "Fast-Walking" right now and the damn INHD logo is being used. I watched "Quick Change" the other day and they used the MOJO logo. Shouldn't all the shows/movies use the new MOJO logo now that the merger has happened? I hate logos but the MOJO logo is MUCH better than the INHD one.
