Wall mount a Fujitsu 3400 Touchscreen

Has anyone wall mounted a Fujitsu Touchscreen? I would like to recess it in the wall between two studs. Maybe use a picture frame to trim it out? I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions? This will be in new construction.

yes, i think IVB did an on wall implementation. JWilson might have also.
For new construction, my real question is "why?" If you are going that far, just buy an in wall quality solution instead of a workaround hack that you will spend more time to get right (if even possible) than what a solid solution will provide? Run two Cat5 wires and a means to get power to the touchscreen location and you then have many options that are better performance wise, and definately better cosmetically than adapting a 3400.

Here's my thread on my mounting using a photo frame

Flushmounted inwall 3400 that looks much nicer (to some).

I both agree and disagree with smoothtlk - if you run hardwires like me & the other poster did, then the 3400 is 100% reliable. I even finally buried the A/C wiring, so that it's fully enclosed within the frame, I just haven't updated my pictures yet.

However, it's certainly not a high-end solution. There's much better options both cosmetically and performance wise. Unfortunately, that either means a UMPC, which is $$$ and doesn't have a good dock right now, or a touchscreen which requires a PC on the back-end. Either of those solutions are much more $$ than I'm willing to spend - for $200 all-in, the 3400 fits my budget. The 3400 touchscreen is mediocre response-wise, but currently "good enough" for me.

I'm personally hoping I can afford a real nice panel, but that won't happen for at least another 12 months.

BTW, nothing against 'hacks". I have a Fujitsu StylisticLT 800x600 tablet on a "custom" (hacked) undercounter mount that I posted pics of on Cinemar's forum years ago. It is still there, it still works running MainLobby via an RDP connection (the LT was slow). that said, when I find a nice commercial solution, i will replace it in a heartbeat.

Thanks for the response and tips. I know that I could buy a much nicer commercial solutions, but none for the price of the tablet, nor would it be as much fun as doing the hacks on it. I like the idea of the flush mount, so I will probably give that a try. I will post some pics when we get it up and running.
