XBox 360 HD DVD Drive owners - head count

Just want to check how many people have purchased and now own the XBox 360 HD DVD drive. Option 2-4 are for those who bought more than one Add On Drives ad gave some of them to relatives/friends/other family members.

I have also made this poll a multiple choice poll to see if the owner/purchasers are owners of standalone players. This matters when we try to do the movie attach rate thingy.

Option No. 5 is for those who own/purchased both the HD DVD add on standalone player/s.

And please let us know how many HD DVD movies you have purchased/rented. after owing the the HD DVD Add On.

Options.

YES - I own/purchased 1 XBox 360 HD DVD add on drive
YES - I bought 2 XBox 360 HD DVD add on drives
YES - I bought 3 XBox 360 HD DVD add on drives
YES - I bought more than 3 XBox 360 HD DVD add on drives
YES - I own both the XBox 360 HD DVD add on drive/s and standalone player/s

The first question said "owned/purchased" so I thought it would be ok to answer if the unit was shipped and we had a tracking number.

Here in Toronto the Best Buy I checked didn't have them in yet. They said that today was the launch day, but they were on route and would go on sale tomorrow.

They said there had been LOTS of inquiries about them and expected a line up and that they would be going fast. They said there were only getting in 33 of them which is interestingly similar to the number of PS3's.

Seems like there may be a similar number available of each which means they managed to get around 350k of the HD-DVD add-ons available.

In any case I will be buying one, but haven't voted yet like a good boy.

Cheers,

Richard

I bought two Add ons and also have a stand alone HD DVD player.I saw the final option too late after I checked that I bought two add ons.
I've purchased around 73 HD DVDs, and have around 50 on preo-order. I usually rent any other titles available.

Voted for "own" add on and hd-a1 - though I've not got it yet from VE. But I did get the shipping email ...

Bought the HD-DVD add on as well as four HD-DVD movies ('Batman Begins,' 'Good Night and Good Luck,' 'Slither' and 'Robin Hood')... but I still haven't bought an HDTV set! When I do (been shopping for one since March! ) I'm already set!

Probably would have been good to include an option for Standalone only.

Not that I'm worried, I bought both

I bought it, and already have 3 Netflix HD-DVD's here in the house. I also bought "Ray" and "Mission Impossible 3" to go along with King Kong that came packaged with the system.

I am dismayed by forum member: BassTek who voted for all five options. Please take note and take into this into consideration when quoting the figures on the poll.

Yeah but you still need software to play it.

If it works with vista does that mean there's a possibility it can read any future HD-DVD ROMS? Or is it limited to movies?
The numbers are pretty good here.

I have been guessing that Microsoft might ship something between 0.5 and 1 million HD DVD add-on drive units by the end of 2006. When does MS usually publish its official numbers?

Data ROMs will be much easier than movies. ie. Any machine with UDF 2.5 support should be able to read a non-protected data HD DVD ROM.

I'm very surprised at the percentage of people using xbox add on as their first HD-DVD player. It would be interesting what would happen when third party HD-DVD rom drives are available for the HTPC for around $50 in next 6 months... along with BD-DVD rom drives....
