we have to wait until sometime first quarter??
how is it that they have had PDVD 6.6HD in bundles with drives for weeks and they can't give all the paying customers support for HD and BR (which I had actually thought was built-in with in version 7, but obviously not) until sometime in the first quarter? it's not like it's hardware and they need to ramp up production or something. and the software that can handle it is obviously already written.
and gotta love how intervideo even with a HDCP video card still only gives 540p! great! and the disks don't even have flags yet! they shouldn't even be requiring it at all for any current disk. so now i need to dump my nice fairly new 7800 without HDCP for some stupid copy protectin ready video card for disks that aren't even protected by it. plus, like i'm really gonna be able to plug the DVI cable into something and capture uncompressed frames in real time anyway. plus one of my monitors changes how the contrast control works when it detects HDCP for some reason in ways i don't like, although hopefully that is only for 1080i signals and not 1080p too (although there are a few nasty rumours that my monitor won't do HDCP in 1080p, even though that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, anyway, if that does turn out to be the case. HD and BR can count me. going back to regular DVDs.).
gotta love how well they are pulling off this whole next-gen DVD stuff.
also why are both cyberlink and intervideo insisting on HDCP gfx cards (at least I have a monitor with HDCP, but in someways the whole thing makes me so mad almost wished I hadn't gotten an HDCP one and nto given it any of my support) when the studios aren't flagging the disks for years? how exactly is DVI output different from a 7800 card without HDCP than from a standalone player outputting non-HDCP signal when it doesn't dectect the flag??
all this stuff, is just the sort of stuff that drives people who buy stuff to start thinking about looking about the net for things....
or just plain forgetting about all these new formats....
sorry for the rant.
