Just got off the phone with Vizio and they confirmed that there will be a 1080p 47 inch with a target date sometime in December 06. They also confirmed that a 60 inch is also on the way, but they could not give me any specific details on that set.
Just have to wait for Costco to start carrying this. =)
I assume from the wording of your post that they didn't tell you whether the 60 inch will be 1080p or not?
A 60" 720p plasma, right?
does that mean costco will have by dec 6 at their stores? price range?
Figures I just purchsed the 46 inch on Friday.

bananfish, you are correct, they did not specify about the 60 inch. I decided to give them a call back to see if I could get any more information and they confirmed that the 60 inch will be a plasma and yes it will be 1080p. They also told me that the 47 inch LCD will be priced at around $2000

Yea I was thinking the same thing. I am happy with my unit not sure if for the size that the 1080P is that big of a deal.

Well....first question I would have is who is making the panels? Also, the Westy has become a fairly mature product with multiple firmware revisions. The Vizio will be a virgin to the market and problems will undoubtably be found; should it have a user-upgrade path on their firmware updates, that's a moot point, but if you have to get service to upgrade your firmware, you might do well to get the Westy.

cazual, is it possible to probe your contact about MSRP info? Thanks!

The Vizio 1080p Plasma will be the prime whetter of the appetite for 1080p.

2008 will see 1080p/120 and HDMI 1.3 just in time for the Olympics!

And, hopefully a top tier 60" 1080p plasma for less than $3K.

The only pricing info they would give me is on the 47 inch at around 2k. They would not get anymore specific than that. I suspect they are still working on the pricing. I would say look for it to sell for between $2100-2500.
well...it's december

any more info?

No Wonder Costco Is All Out Of The Vizio's 42 Plasmas And 50 Inch. Thye Say More To Come. We Will See.
Anyone happen to see or know more about these 2 units?

I understand that Samsung and Westinghouse will introduce the 52" 1080p lcd in Jan/Feb with a Chi Mei panel. So if this holds true, I can forecast that Vizio will introduce a 52" 1080p lcd in or around sping 07.

Lg just released a 47 1080p list 2,999.00.
I think the Vizio will be less.

Just got this email from Vizio when I asked about 1080p:

Also was confirmed by my local costco...Going to be about 500 more than the original 46" price.... Looking maybe mid 2k's...

Also, on a similar note.... Local Costco confirmed the rumor about the return policy changing..Might want to consider this issue for those of you that like to exchange TV's a lot..

Mid 2Ks for a Vizio doesn't make sense, considering the SAMSUNG LN-S4695 (46" 1080p LCD) can already be had for less than 2.5K!

The price quoted in email did not have the word "mid" in it....

have any other stats been released for the 47"

No other details in the email....seems a bit odd that a panel supposedly coming out next week isn't on their web site...
That pricing makes no sense given that the Westy 47" 1080p can be had for under $2k.
