Sony LCD issues *please help*

Hello all. I bought a 32" Sony KLV-32U100M LCD about 4 months ago. About 1 month ago it started malfunctioning: the display will turn itself off and then back on, it's as if I press the power button to turn it off and then press it again quickly to turn it back on. When it just started happening it would be very seldom, once or twice per week. It has gotten much worse since then and these occurances are completely random. Sometimes I'll have the display on for 2 hours and it will be working fine but at other times it will turn off and then back on 10 times within half an hour. Sometimes the display will get stuck in this off/on cycle with a black screen and just the power light will be blinking, then the only way to get it to work again is to unplug it from the wall.
Anyway, my 30-day store warranty expired long ago and I was stupid and didn't purchase an extended warranty. Am I covered by the Sony warranty for a year?
If so, how do I go about getting this repaired under warranty?
Is this something I can possibly fix myself?
PLEASE HELP!

Yes, Sony's manufacturer's warranty should last one year. Contact Sony and arrange to have them service it.

Some other Sony models had a turn off problem and Sony released a patch for them via a memory card, it was early XBR1 models.

Yes I have and I was told to bring it in for service at one of their authorized locations.

This model doesn't have any memory card slots so this kind of fix wouldn't be possible.

sorry, hope you can get it repaired. If you bought it in a store Sony should cover repairs under warranty.

After speaking to a tech from Sony customer service, I was told they have a bulletin out for all KLV series Bravia LCD's. It appears they're all prone to malfunction the way mine did and something called the "A-board" has to be replaced. They told me they'll be sending out a tech to my house to replace this A-board next week...

I just bought one last night for about 45% of MSRP. My old Samsung died around 6:45pm and I spotted this deal in last week's papers, which was $200 cheaper than I've seen for a 32" Sony, in time to get to my local AV store and buy it a few minutes before they closed. I therefore didn't have the opportunity to research it first, but after being really impressed with the picture quality, I did a search for some reviews of it and turned up over a dozen reporting this same problem. This is a chronic problem with these KLV-32U100M TV's and most people were reporting that Sony was backordered for months on the replacement A-Boards. Apparently Sony's response to complaints from people who had owned these TV's for only a few months (and had their defective units in the shop for longer than they had been used) was too bad, but that's your problem.

So, how did it turn out? Did Sony fix the problem? Has it stayed fixed? I've got 13 more days left to return the TV if I'm going to do that, so I want to make an informed decision. Thanks
