C'mon Paramount Where's our Star Trek

Thread Starter
I'm sure it's coming because Paramount won't pass a chance to milk the franchise again and they just finished SD DVD. But what's taking them so long? I notced on my 360 that paramount is going to Sell and rent content on Xbox Live and they make a point to Show "Wrath of Khan" so where's the HD-DVD ?
I loved wrath of khan and have the laserdisc, but the laserdisc was spoiled by having a very high amount of hiss on the soundtrack. I saw the movie in 70mm 6 track dolby stereo and it looked and sounded out of this world, even by todays standards. If they release the HDDvd I hope it looks and sounds as good :-)

I have just one thing to say to Paramount: Boldly go!
Does anyone know if the STAR TREK titles will be separate or in collections? My main wants of FIRST CONTACT, WRATH OF KHAN and VOYAGE HOME. If I could avoid having to buy a whole collection (like Mission: Impossible) to get the titles I want, it would be great.

If I were Paramount I wouldn't put out those gems of the catalog until the war was over

The only thing Paramount has confirmed (sadly) is that they will issue The Ultimate Star Trek Movie Collection in HD-DVD (and very likely Blu-ray). But there is no release date, or further details.

Actually, they also mentioned "Star Trek: First Contact" as well.

That would be sweet to see all the movies on HD-DVD. How about some of the shows. I wouldn't mind seeing enterprise on HDDVD, I've only seen the HDnet versionso on D* light. So the real HD versions would look great.

My firends a huge ST fan I'd love to taught him about having a better version then him.
"You haven't really seen star trek, unless you have the HDDVDs" "a true star trek fan has the HD version"

I did this when I bought serinity, although he often say I only payed 300 for my 35 inch tv and you payed 700 for a 30".

Anyway the last few movies and tv show would look great. Although some of the older shows may be hard to convert as you'd be able to spot the strings

You seem to not be aware of the fact that they are doing HD transfers of the original series as we type this. They are cleaned up frame by frame and the space scenes and viewscreen shots are redone with CGI (but no enhancements really, mostly just making it look better). No affiliate is currently airing them in HD, but they are being aired as available. They will not all be done for over a year, but I'd say it is safe to say that at some point after that, there will be an HD disc set of TOS out.

I've watched a couple of the HDNet eps and my OTA HD recordings look way better. I'd love to have all the seasons on HD-DVD.

It's not over the top, in fact, it's somewhat underwhelming...

They have to know it would sway people one way or the other.

As in they look no better than SD movies? Sorry you won't get consumers to buy into HD if they look no better than SD movies.

So far there have been a lot of stinkers in terms of tranfers for whatever reason.

Yes, the Special Edition original Star Trek movies on DVD are somewhat disappointing in terms of video quality. Paramount never put forth the effort it appears. Some of the movies look better than others, but hopefully all the original movies will be cleaned up for HD discs.

What service were you watching it on? If it was DirecTV they downrezz the 1920x1080i HDnet signal to 1280x1080i so all their shows look worse than OTA when viewing them from DirecTV.

Maybe it will look like it did in the DS9 episodes where they showed the original Enterprise? Or the Episodes of Enterprise where they had shots of Original Episode ships?
If you don't already have them, the Star Trek special edition DVD's can be found for $10 each and look terrific upconverted on the Toshiba HD-DVD players.
You can now download Enterprise, the original series on 360 live in hi-def. Star Trek the original series look very good ( not all the original eps. are in hidef though). The models and some of the special effects have been touched up or enhanced, the effect is very nice with not altering the original intent. Not like the Star Wars enhancements, if you are a purist. The show is presented in 4.3 aspect ratio, the intro and space shots are all presented in 16.9.

Am I missing something or wouldn't "First Contact" be a part of "The Ultimate Star Trek Movie Collection?"
