And did I miss it or was Stephanie March on-screen for less than a minute during court and a quick interrogation scene (behind the mirror)?

Good episode even if it was clearly Emmy bait for Burnett in a bid for Guest Actress nomination. Sorry Carroll, but if any guest star from "SVU" is going to win the Emmy this year it's gotta be Ellen Burstyn from her appearance on "Swing."

LOL. May be true but it was a good bid. I don't think I saw "Swing". I'm gonna definitely have to see if I can catch a repeat or dl it.

It just seem like she was in a different class than everyone else on the show. To me her acting was just that much better.
Another thing though that made me LMAO. I mean ROTFLMAO. Anyone else notice when she was in the catscan machine that for a lady that has to be damn near 100 she was mighty "perky" in a certain part of the anatomy? I guess when you got that kinda money you can afford the good stuff. LMAO

TV Notes
Mariska Hargitay News
From Verne Gay's Newsday 'TV Zone' Blog - March 20, 2009

This is good news, in fact, so don't worry.

She's been a bit under the weather, missed shooting an episode ("L&O: SVU") as you all know.

Now...the news...She returns to the set Monday.

This Monday, March 23.

She'll shoot an episode with Hillary Duff and Gail O'Grady. Story's about a mother and daughter; O'Grady's character says her granddaughter has gone missing, while Duff's character (daughter of O'Grady's character...sorry, a mouthful) says the child has been kidnapped.

Olivia Benson to the rescue!

Episode will air April 28.

I think this is the episode where Ice-T substituted for a sick Mariska Hargitay at the last minute. There was no mention of Benson's absence (they usually have a quick moment where we're told the absent character is testifying at a trial or on another assignment) and the dialogue between Delroy Lindo and Ice-T sounded like it would have come from exchanges between Olivia and Lindo (particularly the 'from the moment you walked in' line). I started disliking Delroy's character but as the episode unfolded he became more likable. At the end I was crying for his loss. And of all the "L&O" shows "SVU" is unflinching in its portrayal of the higher-ups at One Police Plaza (along with the Feds, Internal Affairs, etc.) as out-of-touch arrogant bastards. Loved the scene where Delroy's boss and Capt. Cragen (along with Delroy) are talking in the captain's office, a veritable Mt. Rushmore of older guys with bald heads. Not a single hair was visible in that room.

TV Notes
SVU: Michaela McManus Is Leaving the Cast
By TV Guide.com

Michaela McManus will not return to Law & Order: SVU next season, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

McManus' character, Assistant District Attorney Kim Greylek, left the SVU in a March episode to return to Washington, D.C., a development that coincided with the reappearance of ADA Alexandra Cabot (Stephanie March). But it's looking like Greylek will remain inside the Beltway. March is scheduled to appear in four more episodes this spring.

The One Tree Hill alum tweeted a thank-you message to the fans on Twitter about her departure from the show. NBC did not respond to TVGuide.com's request for comment.

All of which raises the questions: Will SVU have a new ADA in the fall? And will she be played by Stephanie March?

Wow. What's the deal with 2 weeks in a row of reruns? Is it due to the fact of Mariska Hargitay's health, MacManus leaving the casts, or is it due to the fact the 2 stars want more money?
Hopefully on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 there will be a new episode of SVU.

Three reasons for all these repeats:

-it's April and the May sweeps episodes are just around the corner; NBC is sitting on a pile of new episodes now so it can air them in May, plus...

-the network wants to give Conan O'Brien's new "Tonight Show" a push in the ratings. So NBC has scheduled the season finales of its 10PM shows on the first week of June, one week after May sweeps ends. With most NBC 10PM shows this won't really matter much, but "SVU" (the highest-rated NBC 10PM show) as lead-in into the local news and the 2nd night of Conan (after the premiere of his new "Tonight Show") is huge. If NBC wasn't saving that extra episode for June (when "SVU" is normally in repeats) it would have probably aired this or last week instead.

-Mariska's health issues may not have put a big delay on production, but any delay (however small) an a well-oiled machine like "SVU" doesn't help.

Good deal, Ok then.

Just a heads up for tonight:
Hilary Duff Guest Stars On "Law & Order: SVU"
http://www.allheadlinenews.com/articles/7014955763

Anthony Jones - Celebrity News Service Contributor

Miami, FL (CNS) - Former Disney tween sensation Hilary Duff guest stars on the Tuesday night episode of "Law & Order: SVU." In a role atypical from the family-friendly fare she's best known for, Duff plays Ashlee Walker, a irresponsible young mother who is the prime suspect in the case of her missing daughter.

Gail O'Grady also guest stars as Walker's mother, who reports the disappearance of the child to Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Stabler (Christopher Meloni.) The plot comes straight from the headlines as a parallel to the recent Caylee Anthony case.

This is Hilary's second guest starring role in a one-hour drama in recent weeks. She recently appeared on an episode of CBS' "Ghost Whisperer." She reportedly has her own sitcom for NBC in the works.

The episode, "Selfish," airs Tuesday, April 28th at 10pm/EST on NBC.

Looks like Hilary Duff delivered the goods for "SVU." From Fredfa's "Hot Off The Press" thread:

Nielsen Overnights (18-49)
Hefty bump for NBC's aging 'L&O:SVU'
Averages a 3.9 in 18-49s, second highest this year
By Toni Fitzgerald, Media Life Magazine - April 29, 2009

There's been loads of speculation lately over whether lead actors Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni will return to Law & Order: Special Victims Unit next season. They're reportedly in negotiations to continue on with the 10-year-old show, amid word that a major character will be killed off before season's end.

All the buzz may have helped boost viewership for SVU, which last night garnered its best ratings in months.

The NBC drama averaged a 3.9 adults 18-49 rating, according to Nielsen overnights, up 44 percent over last week's 2.7 and its second-highest rating of the season.

It was the show's best outing since January, and NBC easily won the timeslot over second-place CBS's Without a Trace, which averaged a 2.5.

Meanwhile, Fox won the night with a 6.0 average overnight rating and 16 share. NBC was second with a 3.7/10, CBS third with a 3.2/8, ABC fourth with a 2.0/5, Univision fifth with a 1.7/5 and CW sixth with a 0.8/2.

As a reminder, all ratings are based on live-plus-same-day DVR playback. Seven-day DVR data won't be available for several weeks. Thirty-one percent of Nielsen households have DVRs.

At 8 p.m., Fox led with a 7.9 for American Idol followed by CBS with a 3.4 for NCIS, NBC with a 3.1 for The Biggest Loser, Univision with a 1.5 for Cuidado con el Angel, ABC with a 1.0 for According to Jim and the CW with a 0.7 for Reaper.

At 9 p.m., Fox and NBC tied for the lead with a 4.2 each, the former for Fringe and the latter for the second hour of Loser. CBS was third with a 3.7 for The Mentalist, followed by ABC with a 3.2 for the Dancing With the Stars results show, Univision with a 2.0 for Manana Es para Siempre and the CW with a 0.9 for 90210.

At 10 p.m., NBC led with a 3.9 for SVU, followed by CBS with a 2.5 for Trace, ABC with a 1.7 for Cupid and Univision with a 1.6 for Aqui y Ahora.

Among households, Fox won the night with a 9.7 average overnight rating and 15 share. CBS was second with a 9.5/15, NBC third with a 6.4/10, ABC fourth with a 5.3/8, Univision fifth with a 2.2/3 and CW sixth with a 1.2/2.

Wow, great episode last night. It was wild how Stuckey tried to kill the wonderful judge. Some balls he had. ha

Hopefully the full cast returns for next season. (Minus that Mike Doyle as Forensics Tech Ryan O'Halloran and Noel Fisher as CSU Dale Stuckey.)

Seriously. After last night's episode, it just reminded me how those two characters really make the show.

There's a story in today's NY Times story about actor Mike Doyle (O'Halloran) and his many on-screen encounters with the grim reaper: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/03/ar...ref=television. Can't post it on "HOTP" because it has way too many spoilers for those that DVR "SVU" and don't know yet how things went down. I was a wild and nutty season finale but it solidified my opinion that this has been one of the worst in "SVU" history. The writing has been atrocious and it's only the strong bond between audience and the Stabler/Benson characters that has kept the show going through some truly awful episodes this year. Here's hoping NBC doesn't cut the writing budget on "SVU" to have to bring back both Meloni and Hargitay for a new (and hopefully better) season.

TV Notes
Hargitay, Meloni returning to 'SVU'
Stars ink new deals for procedural's 11th season
By Nellie Andreeva, The Hollywood Reporter - June 29th, 2009

"Law & Order: SVU" will be returning in the fall with its two stars.

After lengthy negotiations, Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni have inked new deals to continue on the crime procedural, which is coming back for an 11th season in the fall.

Additionally, Emmy winner Christine Lahti has signed on to play the ADA on the veteran series for the first four episodes. Stephanie March will then return, reprising her role as ADA Alexandra Cabot.

Sources said Hargitay and Meloni, who regularly negotiate their contracts together, have inked one-year deals with an option for a second year.

And, despite the congloms and particularly NBC Universal being in a cost-cutting mode, both Hargitay and Meloni are said to have received salary increases to their most recent paychecks of about $385,000 an episode.

Hargitay and Meloni's deals come a month after NBC closed a deal with Wolf Films for the renewal of "Law & Order: SVU."

At the time, NBC brass said that the show will return with or without its stars as the networks and reps for the actors had been embroiled in intense negotiations.

But, while crime procedurals are more resilient than character dramas in replacing leads, losing both Hargitay and Meloni, considered the heart of the show, would've been a big hit to "SVU."

Hargitay is repped by Paradigm. Meloni is repped by Gersh.

$385k/episode is very nice, lucky them.

What exactly is the point of you last comment?

I only watch two network shows. One of them is L&O:SVU. The rest are trash.

NBC HD quality on this show is very good. As is NBC's Sunday Night Football (certainly better than the fuzzy image from ESPN). So what's your beef with NBC. Why are they so crappy to you?
The network is run by an incompetent manager (Jeff Zucker) who's more interested in quarterly financial results than on producing good TV (i.e. Jay Leno, "Biggest Loser," etc.). "SVU" has been spared the hatchet because it's the network's only scripted drama show that is a hit. Hey, I love "SVU" and "L&O" (and "CI" on USA) but let's be honest here, NBC the network is nowhere near as cool and fun to watch as the "L&O" shows.

I really don't care about "networks" as such. I'm not nearly into "television" as so many on the forums are. I don't spend hours a day in front of a display. I find a few good network shows each season and watch only those. And I want them to be of high HD quality, regardless of which network produces those shows. L&O SVU is one of those shows. And I don't care if it comes from ABC, Fox, or The Man in the Moon network.

I really can't understand how so many are so devoted to watching hours of network shows. Do these people work for a living? Maybe they work in the industry.

Give me good quality HD football like I see on CBS and NBC. Give me great looking HD movies from HDNet Movies, some of the premium channels, and Blu Ray. Give me a few interesting channels in HD such as the Food Channel. This is the good stuff. Survivor??? OMG. How can any intelligent human being watch such drivel and get so involved, even if it's in HD? Escapism is one thing. But Survivor?

Ratings are in for Wednesday night and they're bad: http://www.medialifemagazine.com/art...BC_sitcoms.asp. "SVU" finished dead last (fourth place) behind the new ABC sitcoms ("Modern Times" and "Cougar Town"), "Criminal Minds" on CBS and "Glee" on Fox in the coveted 18-49 demo. When it was on Tuesdays at 10PM "SVU" consistently won its time slot in both total viewers and demo viewers. Again, thank you NBC management for turning your #1 Tuesday show into a 4th place Wednesday time slot filler.

Good episode.

Shocking. The DA was terrified.

Edit: I thought I replied to your above posting, Dad. Whoops.
Sucks about the ratings from last week.
