Rob, my main idea is have the best in two channel because it is the main use but too I want get a decent performance for movies and concert; the HT will be handled by a denon 3310 with bypass through the CP800. yes the speaker and the pre is very easy hear any difference that is why I' m focus with the cp800 my budget is narrow and 5 high end gear is too expensive.
I don't think the Classe CP-800 or any stereo preamp is going to improve significantly over the 3310 if you use Pure Direct mode, which essentially turns the 3310 into an analog stereo preamp by cutting out the digital audio circuits and video circuits.
If you look at the preamp measurements of the Denon AVRs (or Yamaha, etc), you will see that in Direct mode, they measure as well as many stereo preamps. They have significantly closed the performance gap. The difference will be insignificant.
