I've been bitten by the upgrade bug and have a few questions for you. My home theater set up consists of 803-Diamond LR, an HTM2-Diamond Center, and four Nautilus SCM1 surrounds (these surrounds are not Diamonds). I am driving them using an Integra DHC 80.2 pre-pro hooked up to an Integra DTA 70.1 seven channel amp. I am using an Oppo 93 blu-ray player for CD/SACD/BluRay source material. I use the system for both music and movies. Here are my questions:
1) Will I see a perceptible improvement in audio quality, especially for music, if I get mono block amps to feed the LCR and delegate the Integra amp to power just my four surrounds? I like to play my movies loud and sometimes I feel that more headroom might give me better sound, but I do not know if this is true.
2) If the answer to the above question is "Yes", then what amp(s) should I be looking at? Emotive and Parasound Halo seem to get good reviews. How about Macintosh amps?
Thanks for your advice.
