Hey guys may i know what cables you are pairing up with your B&W's espcially the 600 series?

Iam chosing between QED XT 300 (my first choice) and Canere 4S11 any suggestions?

14-2 Carol (in wall) from Parts Express and some 14-2 from Home Depot to my 602s3s and LCR60.

DH Labs, T-14 biwire for Nautilus 805s home theater mains (and HTM2 center) and Q10 biwire for the Nautilus 804s in my two-channel system.

The 602.5 are NOT 602 floorstanders! They are actually 601 floor standers. The name is misleading, so many people find the 602 to be a much better sounding speaker than the 602.5

What are they about to do to that 800D? It is an 800D, correct? The cabinet is definitely for an 800, I'm not sure if it is a diamond tweeter or not.

Just sold my ASW675 and purchased th JL f112. Should be here in a week. While I'm waiting I will recalibrate my speakers to my new DVD player.

it looks like an 800 series something...........going into the oven, to bake the sound-quality into it.

If he allowed us to see more of the 1rst image (like on the lower right-side) we could see where those wires are going to. However, it does look like a test fixture (with some cross-over components mounted) that he's rigging-up.

It's obvious the drivers are removed, with wires coming out of mounting holes (that would probably connect to drivers). Thing is, from both image's, we don't know whether the drivers were ever re-mounted, or what?

Hi Guys,

I bought a demo B & W CMDC center speaker about five years ago to match my pair of CDM7 front speakers. I noticed there is a pretty big dent on the tweeter of the center speaker. It's caved in but there is no hole or anything like that. I am wondering if that affects the sound quality. And if it does, can I have my dealer to replace the tweeter (at my own expense, I guess)? I took two pictures but too dumb to know how to attach them here.

You can take some tape and use it to gently pull the dome back out - most replies I've seen to these questions indicate that SQ is only minimally affected by a dent.

I just tried it. I was able to pull about 1/3 of the dent out. Hopefully the dent doesn't affect the sound quality. I have no way of knowing how it is supposed to sound with a perfect tweeter since the dent was there when I bought it but I didn't notice ituntil much later.

I think a good indication that I am an obsessive compulsive perfectionist and that you are not, is that something like the problem you are having (the dented tweeter) would drive me insane. I would absoutely have to replace the damaged part so that I could be certain the problem was fixed. That you could resign yourself to the prospect that "hopefully the dent doesn't affect the sound quality," is beyond my comprehension, as I would not be able to sit back and relax any time I played those speakers because I would be consumed with the self-inflicted apprehension caused by my awareness of the speaker damage. I would have tried to find a way to replace the broken part from day one, as I don't think I would be able to sit comfortably with the thought of potential damage that can't be seen if I managed to pull the dent out better than you have done with your own dent (pull the dent all the way out instead of just 1/3) and fixed all of the visual damage.

Yeah, I hear ya. I didn't use it much so I was too lazy to bother with it. But I still can't keep it off my mind. I also have a Nautilus 805 setup in my family room. I swear in the five years since I bought these speakers, I have used them for less than 300 hours. By the time the kids go to bed, we just don't feel like staying up to watch a movie. Anyway, I think I am going to take it to the dealer to replace the dome. Hope it won't cost me too much.

Does any one have any B&W in-walls? I was at a home theater joint today and heard some of the 700's and was blown away how clear and natural they sounded. He didn't have any 800's connected in the room I was in, and I can only imagine how well they sound. I have the perfect spot for some in-walls, but no one has any installed to listen to.

I would check out the higher end in-wall models for sure. Some of them use some high-end techniques to isolate sound and create an in-wall cabinet that counters the effect of in-wall placement. I would also check out the Revel in-wall speakers also.

I just read a UK hi-fi magazine and they have a review on the CM7 and they compared it to a bunch of other speakers, interestingly the CM7 scored second from the bottom. Not saying that we should trust the reviewer but its interesting to know.

not exactly easy to see, but the grade scale's seem to be very close across the board- no overwhelming victory for any single speaker (as far as I can see), essentially the scoring was very close.

Are you asking about the 700s or the in-walls? The in-walls / in-ceilings are CWM-xxx (w = wall) and CCM-xxx (c = ceiling). I don't have them, but they're on my short list for in-walls - heard them at a Ken Crane's nearby, and they sounded very good. I have 602/601/cc6 setup, so am somewhat partial to B&Ws to begin with. Also looking into Aperion, HTD, HiVi, Oz, Sonance, etc.

I had never heard B&W speakers before, and the guy at the center I was at recommended that I listen to them. I am definatley going with in-walls. I was just referring to how good the 700's sounded, and hoping that the in-walls sound as good. My problem is that I'm like 80 miles from any places that sell the higher end stuff, and I like to get as much info from people on this forum before I decide to make a run to see or hear stuff.

I spent about (3) hours at a local B&W dealer yesterday doing some comparative listening to the 804S and 805S speakers. My goal was to determine which pair I preferred as the mains for my new 5.1 system. I new beforehand that I'd get some "dynamic benefit" from the towers because my listening space is pretty large: 24' (width) X 16' (depth) and has 12' vaulted ceilings.

But, I wasn't expecting the 805S speakers to sound sooooo good! My current 5.1 system is about (10) years old and consists of (5) M&K S90 monitors. I simply could not believe how much bass was being generated by the 805S monitors compared to my S90 monitors. Apples and oranges, I know...

After going back and forth between the 804S and 805S comparing audio tracks, I ended up liking the added base and smoother midrange of the 804S speakers. No big surprise...

Before I left the store, I placed an order for the following (all in the cherry finish):
(2) 804S
(1) HTM4S
(2) SCMS

My center selection was based on the space constraints (max 22" CC width) of the custom cabinet I built last year. I may end up building a new cabinet in the future that would allow me to upgrade to the HTM3S.

Lastly, I ordered a new Rotel RMB1095 amp to drive my new toys. Order should be arriving either the end of this week or early next week. I'm looking forward to spending the holidays listening to all my old CDs and re-watching all my DVDs again!

I think you'll be happy with the B&Ws and Rotel amp. I'm running my 804s with a RMB-1075 and love the sound (though I'm using the HTM3S for my center).

What are you using for a receiver / Processor?

Congrats! Thats a fine system, and hopefully you can enjoy it before upgraditis sets in and you want the center that perfectly matches the 804s
