We should list them for each input: HDMI, VGA, and Component. It would be a great place for people to start.

The best place to start is at the factory settings.... deviations from ideal run in both directions from there...

markbradford, thanks for the pics. That's a very cool looking room!

I don't think that's accurate at all, as evidenced by this REVIEW

I don't think so: "deviations from ideal run in both directions from there..." infers that the factory settings are ideal, no?

The calibration info is good stuff.

The Hound, thanks for the link. I can't believe I missed it.

According to Krasmusik, a regular contributor here, this ref. review used the wrong color standard charts for drawing their conclusions. The Mits is not off nearly as much their review indicates. I know my Mits is outstanding in pq right out of the box.

Here's a shot of my home theater area in my great room. We've since installed blinds...

And here are some shots at night with the HD1000U...

Gear:
Mitsubishi HD1000U
Motorola DCT3416 Comcast HD DVR
Apple TV
Carada Criterion 102" screen with Brilliant White 1.3 gain surface
Denon AVR4800 Receiver
Denon DVD2800 480p DVD player
Paradigm Monitor 9 L&R
Paradigm OW-CC350 center (til I replace with a new one now that it doesn't need to be wall-mounted)
Paradigm Monitor 7 rears
Hsu Research VTF2 sub

How are the acoustics in the room? Not a soft absorbing surface that I can see.

That pic is a few weeks old so it's actually my IN72 hanging there above the table you mentioned, about 10 feet in the air. We miss Rome too. :-(

Well that pic was taken before the blinds, rest of the furniture, and rugs were added, but since the room is so large (30'x50'x12') we dont' actually have much of a problem with it being too live. It definitely eats power though - I need to put my AVR 4800 on -20db to watch TV here, whereas I could have listened comfortably at -30 or -35 at my old "normal" place.

Your room is over 15,000 cubic feet! I don't imagine acoustic reflection is a problem as the movie would be over before the reflected sound gets back to your ears!

Nice room BTW...

What a nice room ! Wow ! I'm waiting for my HD1000... will get it either tomorrow or Monday. And I miss Rome too. I need to find both seasons in 720p somewhere...

no.... it means the factory setting's errors run in both directions, so one pj's correction setting might make your pj worse! .... look at the graph posted above.... if the factory was capable of making every single pj with a blue deficiency exactly like that, why wouldn't they just make every single pj perfect?

If you take a look at the owner's manual, the HD1000 will not run if the bulb has 3000 hours on it, so it's not even possible to use the lamp beyond its lifespan, at least not unintentionally.

By the way, for the brave of heart, I checked with my Mitsubishi contact, and the review is right about one thing; the color space is not adjustable at all, service menu or not. Only the adjustments we have access too in the main menus are available even to dealers and technicians. Further, if it really bothers you (the greens look fine on mine so far w/ 40 hours on the lamp, withholding judgment and calibration for another month) -there is something you can do. If you can live with a little less brightness, the HC1100 (only sold overseas) has the same guts but with a more accurate color wheel without the white segment. It is Mitsubishi part# 499D102040, in stock and available from Mitshbishi dealers for probably around $275. Changing it will void your warranty however, and for replacement instructions and adjustments, you will need to get the HD1000/HC1100 service manual (I'm told it's the same for both models.) No, I don't have the service manual myself, sorry.

Also, I still can't get my Harmony 659 universal remote to work at all with the Mits. Anyone go over this already with Harmony/Logitech tech support? Even the codes they have don't match up (like DVI inputs, PIP, etc..?) to the functions of the projector. Anyone have any ideas? Learning, using their own database codes, and setting repeats to 5 all didn't work.

Learning didn't work? That's really odd...
my mx 850 learned the codes no problem..........
Yep so they used the wrong graphs, big deal so their charting of the graphs is off doesn't change the fact that green is to yellow for what ever reason. I do wish there was more talk about it before I had bought the hd1000. I LOVE the lil thing in every area but color.
okay... enough already.... you're angry with yourself for having bought the HD1000.... the slight shift in green DRIVES YOU CRAZY.... so... offer it up in an even trade to an HD-70 owner that wishes he had bought the HD1000.... there's plenty of them out there

I figured it would be a straight swap out, if it were $100 or so less I would probably do it.

Am using the 659 myself. Learned the input codes and dumped the ones from the database. Also had to adjust the delay at startup (did this via troubleshooter, as on startup the Harmony was sending the input command before the projector was "warmed up" and ready to receive it). Other than that, it seems to be working fine.

Also what do you guys think of this?

I've seen this wall mount on the auction site everyone goes to.

I'd very much prefer NOT to ceiling mount.

I can assure you the wall mount in the picture will fit your HD1000u

Got mine and managed to use my current X1 ceiling mount to mount my HD1000. All you need is three brackets from old light fixtures (the ones that mount on to your power box and hold up your lamp fixtures) and three nuts and bolts. Voila, you have a converted mount. Best part of all, this did not cost me a penny.

Try it out and hope it works for you.
