I don't know how. I have to ship it out in the morning anyway, so I'll add it to the repair list.

Ok well I wish you luck and a speedy return back to you HT.

I just got an e-mail and had to call them - the bulbs are back-ordered and won't come in until the end of next week at the earliest. I was given 3 options: cancel the order, wait the additional time, or get the "Phillips upgrade," which was in stock. I chose to wait. We'll see.

Update!! Today, DTR Technologies shipped my HD1000 to Mitsubishi for repair. They said they did this because they didn't have the color wheel parts. This doesn't make sense. Why not just have Mits. send them the parts, fix it, and send it back to me? Now Mits. is going to send it back to them to "close out the order," and then send it to me. And this was approved by Warrantech. Very weird.

The bulb came in from AMatterOfFax, and it's NOT a Mitsubishi bulb.

The box on the left is the new bulb, the box on the right is the Mitsubishi bulb that is is currently in my projector.

Hi Jim,

Unfortunately this is typical of warrantech and their repair dealers. If you remember when you first entered your post and about this subject I sent you a lengthy reply stating, in short, it took 6 weeks to get mine fixed. Looks like you are headed down the same path. All I can advise you is to, "stay on their butts".

John thank you for sharing your misfortunes with the rest of us so we can avoid this seller. I sure hope you can get your money back. Good luck and have a great day.

Exactly, when I ordered mine from Buy.com for $298 it came in the box on the right, which as you said is the Mitsubishi replacement lamp. If it's not in that box then you have a knockoff replacement lamp not the Mitsubishi replacement that is the exact same lamp the projector came with.

At knockoffs are around $200. The real lamp will cost you from around $280 and up.

Curious, is there a big peformance difference between the knock-offs and the mitsubishi bulb? Are you just paying for the name? Do the knock-offs not last as long or as bright? Or does it void your projector warranty?

Thanks

There are lots articles regarding fakes vs real lamps, here's just one http://www.projectorlamps.com/buyer-...originals.html Some of the differences are quality and hours of use and brightness. There are even more serious concerns such as mercury leaks due to the standards aren't nearly as high as a real lamp. Many articles describe the Chinese factories these lamps are made in and how QC just isn't taken into consideration.

"Or does it void your projector warranty?"

Yes, with certain manufacturers a non-OEM lamp will void your warranty.

Hey jdonigan, I bought that same replacement bulb from matter of fax for my hd1000 and can't get it to work at all!!! Wondering if you had the same problem or if you tried to return it yet?

I installed it several times and even put the bulb into the old housing because the new housing was shaped differently (slightly) and the same keeps happening. The projector boots up, goes to the blue backdrop for a second then the lamp turns off and the power button turns a steady red while the status light blinks green until it turns off in a few minutes... I reset the timer and have also put the old bulb in which works fine.

Anyone think they can help with this???I'm guessing I just got ripped off with a piece a junk bulb!

I ran across the mentioned site and emailed them to inquire about the orgin of the advertised bulb for the Mits 1000. The response I received was that it is an OEM bulb from Mits. Appears they are misrepresenting their merchandise. I blew it off and ordered a bulb from another company and it indeed came in the Official Mits packaging and cost aboout $120 more.

You get what you pay for.

I have looked at a matter of fax's return policy and they want a 17.9% restocking fee- fifty dollar minimum over and above shipping, handling, insurance charges each way within 10 days. They are misrepresenting the item. I'm going to talk to my credit card company about it.
Yeah, just saw that too... That's what I get for not doing more research FIRST. Anyways I just noticed a nut holding a wire to the back of the lamp was very loose, tightened it, to no avail. I'm hoping they're decent enough to refund it since it is obviously defective.

Also did you test yours out and did it work for a HD1000? If so maybe I can AT LEAST get a replacement without paying all that extra b******t. Then there's the problem that they say not to put ANY markings/writing on the packaging and ALL original packaging materials must be returned. I wrote DO NOT TOUCH on the package to keep other people from playing with it. It just keeps gettin better!

Who knows though, maybe they're alright and will admit their mistakes and help us out...doubt it though

Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone had a similar situation to me and could give any advice. I got this projector about a week ago at a great deal ($225, ceiling mount included, under 1000 hours, perfect condition). It was my first projector and I am really impressed with the picture. Every thing is good except I'm getting eye strain and head aches that I feel for over a day after viewing for an extended period. More specifically, it's kind of a dull aching right around my temples behind my eyes. I love the image of this projector, but if this continues it looks like I'm going to need to go with LCD. Has anybody had any similar symptoms and if so did they go away. Fortunately, I'm not under any deadline to return it and can test it out as long as I want. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It will not go away. You're one of the rare people DLP affects this bad. Make sure it's calibrated properly(especially contrast and brightness).
Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately, I think I'll need to spend a lot more money for a LCD that has a comparable picture.

This is not my experience - I had very bad headaches after first seeing RBE when I first got my HD1000. They lasted about two weeks, but eventually I became accustomed to it and now I don't see the RBE and I can watch my projector for many hours in a single day without any headaches.

I think it all depends on how much time you want to give it.
Well that's encouraging to hear. I plan on giving it a good long shot before getting rid of it. If this doesn't work, I'll probably save up for a while to get a nice 1080p LCD so I'm definitely not in any rush to get rid of this projector

I can watch one movie ok, if i watch for hours i to will get headache from eyestrain.my first hd was a samsung 50" dlp circa 2004 ,I loved that tv and watched it for 10 hours a day for the first week and boy did i get a headache. But if you limit your time and tame down the contrast and brightness from torch mode it should be ok.I prefer the picture on my dlp to my lcd, someday I`ll get a 3 chip dlp,When the prices come down.

4 Advil 1/2 hour prior to movie-time

I heard there's a green, leafy substance that gets rid of rainbows 100% of the time. Or did they say it caused them? Huh. I'm drawing a blank for some reason. That seems like a pretty important detail - let me do some further testing and get back to you...
HAHAHAHA VERY GOOD! KLONOPIN will reduce rainbows for sure.

Side effects may impair your judgement to determine was it a good movie or did the movie suck.

Or it could make a sucky movie good!

Anyways, I got a full and quick refund from AMatterOfFax which surprised me. My lamp was defective, though, so I don't know how it would go returning a working one with that dreaded restocking and shipping payments

There are a number of things that could cause your headaches. In particular:
  • How big is your screen? Is it much bigger than what you are used to? If so, you may be moving your eyes, or even your head, to view the whole picture, more than you have before.
  • How high is the screen? If you are consistently looking up - even a little bit - to see the screen, and you aren't used to looking up (because the screen was smaller and lower), your neck could be getting stressed.
  • How bright is the picture - if this is your first really bright projector, in a dark room, the contrast could also cause eyestrain.
  • and finally, you might be suffering from the ill-defined, mysterious DLPosis disease, "discovered" by people who don't like DLP, the same people bothered by the effect of waving your hand in front of a CRT and seeing more than 5 fingers...
All of these things can reportedly give you headaches. The first three go away once you get used to the new screen size/brightness/position. Enjoy, its a great projector!

Hello Everyone,

I've got a Mits HD1000u projector i bought brand new from projector people i think in late 06, i've got about 110 hours on the original bulb. The hours are low because not long after i bought the projector i moved out of my place and into a much smaller place, so the projector went back into the box, so fast forward to today and now i want to sell it. Can anybody give me an idea of how much i can get for it? I hate to sell it but its just sitting in the box.

Where are you located? If the hours are real I am interested. I don't know how to verify if the counter may be reset or not.
am located in Gallup, NM

I've never reset the counter or anything, projector was used for movie nights only, which was about twice a week at most. I rarely used the projector, still have the box, remote, manuals etc.

Only reputation i have as a seller is on ebay, even then i havent sold anything on ebay in a LONG time, but my ebay id is LT1Admiral just do a member search.
