i have one to add if you're into the band U2

listen to the song "Bad" off the "rattle and hum" DVD

2 times during the song, adam drops 2 bass notes that flood the stadium like a tsunami

first one is at time index 50:39 and the 2nd is at 53:30 and the song is in chapter 12

you will only hear this bass with the DVD in 5.1 mode in the dvd's "audio set-up" menu, you will not hear it in stereo mode or on the CD soundtrack of this movie. you will hear it a little but it's rolled off a bit

you will be blown away. the bose subwoofer from my AM7's that i use on my computer can't even handle it, it gets distorted but sounds F-ing awesome on my definitives

there is also some nice bass in the song right after it "where the streets have no name", especially during the choruses

I just added it to my Blockbuster Online Account. I should have it by Tues of next week. We'll see how my Infinate Baffel sub handles the LFE. I enjoy U2 so it should be fun to watch and listen. Thanks for the suggestion.

YES, can we list MORE music and concert DVDs with many real deep bass.

To feed my 2 bass hungry beasts (SVS and Velodyne) !

For me: All DVDs from Blue Man Group.

The thread is more for movies. I added the U2 because it actually came out in theaters. No doubt that the BMG are bass heavy.

Just to throw my hat in the ring, I watched Smokin Aces yesterday. The entire movie was a surround sound delight. Especially towards that latter third of the movie. Abosolutely insane bass. The most entertaining part, was when the security group stared at the elevator. There was four constant lines of bass that shook my entire theater. It is only the second time that a grate of mine rattled louder than my mains. I think it's a bit higher in the frequency range, but is the hardest slam that I have heard. Check it out and let me know what you think. I will try to get the timestamp later today.
timestamp for above post, is at 1:11:52 and runs to 1:12:06, and it is insane

cool, no problem. I am glad I can contribute. The movie was very good, one of the best I have seen in a few years. It is a surround sound system dream, and that specific part is awesome. Did you try it yet?

also, it's not mentioned but another two movies I thought about that have awesome bass scenes are:

Rocky Balboa: when the fireworks go off in the arena, and when Tarver breaks his hand, they are both very good.

Pirates of the Carribean, Dead Man's Chest: when the Kraken arrives on the Black Pearl, very low and sustained for a minute.

No I didn't try it yet, I don't have money to rent movies.

Pirates: DMC is on the list, but no chaps and timestamps. It's full of bass that movie, I've seen that one but on tv. Hard to do time stamps.

oh yeah, i remember going to see it in the theater with some friends

what is "BMG" ?
this might be off topic to the thread but it's kinda "subwoofer fun"

in the movie "The Devil's Advocate", watch this movie like 2 or 3am in the morning with the lights out and turn your sub up a little and when you get to the part where the girls are trying on clothes in a store dressing room, the one girl is slipping on a shirt and as she's slipping it on, her face gets distorted and there's a scary sound effect and it catches you off guard and will scare the **** out of you. i suggest just watching the movie and when that part comes, you'll see what i mean

i thought it was just me being a pussy but one time i had a friend over and put the dvd in and it scared the crap out of him also

you will not get the same effect without a subwoofer
post #44 of 5740
I find 1:15:20 to be the start of some insane extended bass for Smokin Aces and it's the most insane bass I've heard yet.

there's a little scene in "ferris bueller's day off" when the kids go up to the sears tower observation deck and they lean over and put their heads against the glass

the sound mixer got a little over zealous (who's complaining) on the LFE channel

probably the only time your subs will kick in in that movie and it's for a few seconds

I actually can not belive I am saying this, but my 3.3 turbo finally met it's match. WOTW, Darla, LOTR, Star Wars, all pale in comparison. My HSU finally farted, and I could not belive it.

The Movie: The Cleaner

The Scene: Opening minute, a cool bass line with one surge to God knows what frequency. It was about 2 seconds, and it destroyed my subwoofer. I can not imagine that any of us actually have the movie, but it is mildly entertaining. Lucy Liu and Nicollette Sheridan look amazing.

The Verdict: Please someone tell me why my sub bottomed out. I am not sure that I would add to the list, but interesting nonetheless.

The same thing happened to my sub last night. The opening scene caused my Plus/2 to bottom out. Scared da hell out of me. Luckily, my sub survived.

bad mixing?

Almost any sub can bottom out on some of these very dynamic sound tracks. The problem is that many of us play our subs too hot.

Deja Vu had some pretty nice bass too...don't know if it's been mentioned yet.

Just watched Smoking Aces, I didn't have it turne up all that loud and the bass was still pretty intense at times in the movie.

I just watched this movie yesterday. I know exactly what you are talking about. The beginning of the movie that low bass that kicked in was great. My 2 PS212 handled that bass like a champ. Check out Tenacious D it has great bass throughout. Especially the beginning copy of THX.
