Ahhh....now, Superman Returns...on the other hand. Great bass! Steve, if you are still reading, rent it at least to hear this bass. It's a pretty good soundtrack. Better sound design over MI:3, imho.

You can see the "dun dun...dun dun...." @ the 25second mark... when Sauron walks into frame and then the 45hz-4hz sweep at the very top ...lol, I can't remember what that was...lmao! It was either one of the swings from Sauron or when the king is hit and lands on the ground...cause that part goes pretty low.

Here, we can see the sweep from the shockwave including the deep rumble after he takes the ring finger off the ground. 40second marker is the ring finger landing on the ground after its cut from his finger.

In general, the closer we get to pink the higher the db level. At -5 in my room the spl meter hit 110db on the above plot.

Ok, I finally got this to work... somewhat. I couldn't duplicate Kweezer's settings exactly. I'm doing this on my SO's laptop which has some DVD playing software on it. Seems to just capture the wave out, but not sure how it's handling bass management. It took a bit of fiddling to get decent output... if I used kweezer's settings, it didn't have enough gain to show much. So you can't compare colors to kweezer's.

Here is the same scene. The final sweep that continues in one direction is at the top (I stopped right after that, as that's the "low" point), it stops with a peak between 14-15 hz:





This graph doesn't look as intense as it seems listening to it. I think it seems so much more intense because the bass is extremely emphasized. It dominates the audio during this period without sharing much with higher frequencies, and it goes on for a relatively long time. And being warble tones instead of more random rumbling, it's more noticeable.
