Recently, on some channels, the picture eventually fades to black and white intermittently. If you change channels and back again, the color reappears, but it then sometimes fades to B&W again. the fade takes place at different time intervals. Tried doing a firmware update, but it is not recognizing our FM number. (Will bite the bullet and call Olevia customer service on Monday morning!) Thanks in advance.

Does this problem occur on both analog and digital channels (including hi-def)?
Have you tried OTA (over the air) reception? Generally if the cable signal is week, the picture becomes pixelated. The old CRT rotary tuner analog sets used to lose color with weak signals, then you would have to fine tune them again. If problem occurs with OTA and cable then you probably have a tuner issue. Olevia service centers are few and far between, if at all. Emerson Radio Corp purchased all Olevia assets including parts, circuit boards, etc.

I have seen some posts on other Olevia threads (47", 55" & others) which list a firm in New York and one in Los Angeles. If all else fails, you might give them a call.

Thanks Yukon04. We did receive/install the firmware upgrade and it APPEARS to have corrected it right away (ie the channel wasn't b/w when flipped to it) but we DID have some intermittent b/w come in during the program. (Didn't know if it was the artistic creativity of the producer or the tv set, lol!)

BTW, when we contacted Olevia or Emergence Tech Support, they were very helpful! We kinda know that if this b/w issue goes on, it probably is a tuner repair. Not sure if it would be worth it to have it 'fixed' or purchase a brand new set.

Thanks again for your reply.

Did you have to use any special driver to install the firmware? Or did the firmware download include the driver to install the firmware. The Olevia procedure discribes using a USB "thumb drive"; I assume this is a standard USB drive.

One contributor mentioned using USB 1.0 instead of 2.0 due to Olevia TV recognition factor. My computers are post 2004 and only have USB 2.0. Did you have any issues with firmware transfer? I have not attempted any updates to date. I have Comcast cable and have experienced not significant issues with direct cable feed.

I tried to check for an updated firmware today. The website says that my FM1 number isn't right.

I've triple checked the number. I have a 232V-S13.

Are there any optimal settings? I'm using the set with Verizio Fios HD Service. I looked but couldnt find anything concrete.

What was the address of the new site? I tried www.olevia.com and it just comes up with this:

"Bad Request (Invalid Hostname)"

Is the site gone along with the firmware updates?

Thanks for any help trying to get the updates. I own 2 Olevias.

Olevia Corp went bankrupt in June and all Olevia parts, unsold sets and other assets were purchased by Emerson Radio Corp. The website folded in July then came back briefly in August, but it appears to be gone again. For more info, check out this article,

Can someone send me a copy of the a34.19L firmware? The Olevia website doesn't work anymore.

I also need firmware for 232v or 232t my firmware version is A33-10.A19.A10.A01.A21 . Please send me one . I really need it my TV stopped working and says "channel band detection failure". It cannot find channel listing anymore. I want to find out if firmware upgrade can help.

I'll add my request for an updated Olevia firmware. I just picked up a used Olevia and it has firmware a33--5-3.a19.a10.a01.a21. Hoping a new version will fix it. If anyone can post a link to a source for it, or send me copy I would greatly appreciate it.

The notes only stated that the update fixes
1. Sometimes the TV shows Split Screen with HDMI input.

Well, I gained 3 things that I know of.
1. The sudden sound of a static 'HISS' after changing from an HD channel to a SD channel. _ Un expected,
2. When scrolling through the sources, the sudden pause at TV Tuner is no longer present. It just rolls past it on to the next input source.
And last, but not least of all
3. DISCRETE SOURCE SELECTION.

Does anyone have this firmware laying around? I have the exact same model and the hissing through my HDMI is unbearable.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I should have downloaded it when I had the chance...

I have a copy of FW A34-26L_232_LPL_ATI242 platform dated 10/06/08 for 232v-S-13. If you want a copy send me an e-mail "lejejame@bellsouth.net". File is 6MB. Also have a copy of .pdf instructions for installation.

I have not installed the FW - no problems with my set so far.

so when i plug my cable directly from my wall to the tv, the tv will not find any channels at all.

why is this. Is the tv not cable ready? when i do an auto channel search it tells me that there is no cable band detected?

If you have gone thru the menu and selected "tuner" as your source, then gone thru the SETUP menu and selected either cable or air and performed an auto channel scan, you should be receiving channels. Check to see if you are in the "Home' mode or "Demo" mode also.

If this fails, you might try off the air signals by connecting a pair of rabbit ears. You should be receiving at a minimum, local digital signals.

Does anyone have a copy of the firmware update for Olevia 232-S12?

I have an older set 232-12 that was working perfectly until a close lightning hit! The surge protector saved the set, but I think the firmware was impacted. I cannot get past the Channel set menu, and cannot select cable or air options. If I use a cable box and just receive the signal through the component cables, everything is fine, but I need to use the TV with the coax cable directly from the wall. It gives me the error that no channels inputed, but I cannot run the auto search!!

I'm having a problem connecting my new laptop, an HP dv7t with blu-ray to my Olevia 232-S13.

I'm attempting to connect via an HDMI cord from my laptop to my TV directly. I can duplicate the display fine, but when I select the 'projector only' option, the tv displays the 'invalid format' error and won't show anything. This is frustrating, since blu-ray dvds are protected and can only be played on one screen at a time (making the duplicate screen useless).

I've tried doing every resolution available to my laptop and none work. My firmware is ADB1_AQ_232CL_A34-10L.A20.PM24L.Adx.T30. I haven't updated the firmware since I purchased the unit in 2007, but with Olevia out of business, I'm not sure how to do that.

I did call Olevia customer support and was able to reach someone. She said to set my laptop to 1024 x 768 and it should work, but I've done that and no luck, same invalid format.

I've set up my laptop to another lcd tv with no problems, so I know it is not the cord or the laptop.

Anyone else having a similar problem? This is driving me insane.

I have a copy of the last firmware issued by Olevia for the 232-S-13 model if you would like to upgrade your set. The f/w version I have is A34-26L_232_LPL-ATl242. Send me an e-mail to lejejame@bellsouth.net.

Recently I was shopping in Walmart in the LCD TV section and noticed that Walmart was marketing a new 32" LCD set. Looked stylish and had lots of features. Curious if it is "son of Olevia".

Anyone know if Olevia TVs are HDCP compliant in the HDMI port for playing blu rays? I got my firmware updated (thank you!!), but now I'm getting a copyright protection error. I have the 232-S13.

I own a 232-S13 with one HDMI port and my unit plays Blu-Ray videos from my Sony BDP-S1 and HD-DVD videos from my Toshiba HD-A1 with no problems. I am running the original firmware ADB1_AQ_232CL_A34-17L.A20.PM24L.Adx.T30. I am using a cheap HDMI 2-input switcher to supply both signals to the Olevia. I have not updated since purchasing the unit in June 2008.

Are you connecting directly to the HDMI port or are you using an AV receiver as a HDMI switcher? I have heard of issues with this setup. I have a copy of the latest firmware issued for my unit, but have not had a need to update as yet.

I'm connecting via the HDMI port and my laptop which has both HDMI and bluray. Good to know that a regular bluray player works fine. I'd like bluray on my tv and I'd rather buy a bluray player rather than a new tv.

What firmware is currently installed on your Olevia? Firmware issued in 2007 addressed compatibility issues with PC connectioins. There have been two releases since then, the last in early 2008.

Firmware Version: A34-17L.A20.PM24L.Adx.T30
-Release Date: 2007-0815
-Solve the issues below:
1. Correct VGA's output resolution, 1360x768@60, 1280x768@60 and 1024x768@60
2. Compatible problem with DMW software application. Signal from PC, DVI to HDMI and 1280x720 resolution.
3. Pop sound when changeing resolution.

Can anyone possibly post a new firmware for the CMO 232-S13 panel? I'm trying to get the set to accept 1360x768 but it is reporting invalid format.
