OLEVIA 32" 2 Series LCD HDTV (232V) - Page 6

I noticed HD channels show up at channel numbers where off-the-air broadcast channels are (i.e not following cable lineup). Perhaps our home wiring acts as a large antenna for ASTC to kick in? In fact, I may return my OTA antenna...

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I am getting Vertical Bars on OTA/HD feed with 1080i/720p Broadcast. I Live in chicago suburbs. Is their any setting on the 232V to adjust it Automatically. Their are only 2 channels which fill the screen but the ABC, NBC & WGN all shows Vertical Lines.

any help with this.

Well I finally hooked everything up in my new apartment today, and was disappointed to have the green tint problem that I've read about on here so many times. Any news regarding this? Can they fix this with a firmware update. And if so, do they plan to? Or should I just exchange it for a new one at Circuit City? I don't really mind to exchange it, but with so many of these showing up, I'm dreading having to take 3-4 back before finally ending up with a working one.

I have the 232V and I have the same issue with the green screen. It is only on component. It appears to be the same with whatever I put in cable box / dvd. Changing the resolution doesn't do squat on the DVD... 480i / 1080i... still green... and If i use my upconvert dvd player it won't play in any resolution other than 480i /p... Haven't tried the HDMI... my firmware ends in A19... so I don't believe it has anything to do with the firmware... but with everyone having this problem makes me think if I go back to CC I will exchange it for a tv with the same issue or possibly worse!

I have the 232v from CC and I had the green tint through component too. I took it back and exchanged it for another. I also took my xbox 360 to test it there. The new tv looks great, and no more green tint.

My 232V has the same latest A33-5.A19.A10.A01.A21..

not A19. It comes with the TV bought from CC on Black Friday.
I took mine back earlier tonight to exchange it. I got another A21, but this one has no green tint (...so far). It seems to be a really great tv if you can get one without the green tint issue.

A week or so ago, when i took my first 232V back, we depleted their entire inventory looking for one working model. 3 TVs later (4 including the initial), and all were tagged as defective and shipped back to the MFG....

I have a 232V with firmware ending with A21. Overall, it is a pretty good TV for the money. I am continuing to test it out to see if I should keep it or not. Here are my comments so far:

TimeWarner STB connected via Component:
  • The only time I see the green tint is when I change from a SD Channel to an HD Channel (@ 1080i). The picture is green for about a second then looks fine. (Does anyone have this issue)?
  • I occasionally have a line at the top of the TV that seems to flicker. I see this on my plasma so I assume it is the cable box and not the TV.
  • Doesn't look as good as either of my plasmas (as expected considering the BF deal)

DVD Player connected via Component (480P):
  • Looks fairly good.
  • Seems to have a slight ghosting effect when watching some movies. (Tested with Armageddon)

PC connected via VGA:
  • Looks really good. I was actually surprised at the quality.

I had the same problem with green tint, I exchanged it at CC and got another that works perfect with no green tint.

I guess I will go back to CC and exchange mine... i really don't want to exchange it n repackage it just to get another with the same issue... did they give you a prob opening up the tv there???

The guy at customer service was really nice, he opened it up and hooked up my xbox 360 that I had brought with me to test 720p and 1080i through component. It worked perfect, they loaded back up in my truck and I left. I was in and out in about 15 minutes.

my 232v started getting the green tint now, and it seems like it's getting worse, it's kinda intermittent right now, it comes and goes, but in my opinion it's definitely not the firmware.
Seems like the hardware is failing...
i got it from BJ's and they don't have any more 232v in stock to exchange it...
if not for the green tint it would have been a keeper, oh well...

So you had been using your 232v for a while before the green tint started to appear?

I bought this 232 from CC on BF too. Have no connected to anything but OTA. Receiving good HD from multiple OTA HD channels. Howevers, some programs on NBC HD and CBS HD channels appear to a horizonal blinking, thin line on the top of the screen. Again this program appeared in some programs - not occur when watching DVD or PBS HD channel.

Anyone having the same issue ? if you do .. then what is the fix for it.
I decided to return my unit. I don't want to risk the green tint issue getting worse over time.
I've asked this in another thread, where we've basically ruled out everything. So I thought that I'd ask here.

My HD cable box only has a DVI out. The 232v only has HDMI in. I've tried a DVI-HDMI adapter, as well as a DVI-HDMI cable. Both make the picture blue. I've already had the green tint issue, so I can say that this looks exactly the same as that did, only blue rather than green. I've returned the cable box for a new one only to find the same blue tint.

Component works fine from the box to the tv. Both component and HDMI work fine from my DVD player to the tv. Because of that, I'm pretty sure that this isn't a problem of the 232v.

Does anyone have any idea what it could be?

My set has the problem as well. You just have to adjust the picture upwards two clicks and it's gone. Only problem is that you have to redo it each time you turn your tv back on again. Still, at least it is fixable. My set, and apparently others, has a huge problem with ghosting from 480i sources. So far this has not been fixed and I may return it as my SD tv looks MUCH better.

I have the same TV with a PS3 hooked up via HDMI. When transitioning from loading a game up in the dashboard to the game menu screen, I get some white flickering of the screen.

Is this occuring for you also or could it be my TV or the HDMI cable?

Over components I'm ok.

Alright, same problem here. A21 firmware...was using my TiVo for a week now with HDMI and kinda forgot about reading this. Tried it with component and had the green tint. It wouldn't be a big deal if all I were using is my TiVo, but I'm planning on getting an Xbox 360, so this simply wouldn't work. My local Circuit City is showing in stock, so I'm hoping what they have there isn't acting up. I mean, people here seem to be having some luck either having purchased one that was fine or exchanging for another, so there's gotta be SOME good ones out there! Wish me good luck!
Yay! Went to CC today, they tested another one, and it was fine! Brought it home and tested it again, and all seems well! Its firmware is also A21, so I'm crossing my fingers (and knocking on wood!) that no problems develop.
I have connected my PS2 with component cables to the TV. The progressive scan games run perfectly, but the games that don't support progressive scan (running only at 480i) will have visuals that are clear sometimes, then other times the video will just get really blurry, including the text, as if the image was superimposed upon itself.

I have already replaced this TV twice at CC, and all 3 TV's I had still had this problem. Has anyone else encountered this problem as well, if so, how did you fix it?
How is the 232v compared to the Westinghouse w2313? CC is having a sale on the 232v and I'm thinking if I should return the w2313 and get the 232v.. any thoughts? Thanks.
Been eyeing the 232V and 532H models beyond the warranty difference (onsite for the 532 vs ship in for the 232) and speaker placement (side vs underneath) and the issues I have read here with green tint etc (if that happens to me im just returning it for a new one at CC till I get a good one).

What else (besides speaker placement and warranty) are the differences between these models?
I'm new to the HD world. I have a quick question so I know if I need to get an additional cable box or not?

Today I bought the Olevia 232v from CC. With the tuners installed will I get all my digital cable channels and HD through the coax? If so do I need to get the box in order to get my HD channels in 720p? Right now I have a box from them for my old Samsung that requires it to convert the content to HD because it didn't have either tuner installed.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Ok... i returned my 232V with green tint and so far have a good working unit... all connections work fine... HDMI with my upconvert dvd player and Component with my cable box. HD broadcasts look great and all is well.... so far. If it can make it past the inital 2 weeks I think the tv will be ok.... bottom line... great tv as long as you get a good working model. HDMI is EXTREMELY CLEAR with dvd upconvert.... bout as good as you can get really. Lets hope it stays that way. My only quip is i cant get the tv to work with the cable box remote. Olevia isn't on the list!
