I heard that the power supply unit on these TVs can go out, but I'm not sure why it would happen. Is there any way to test the PS unit to see if its bad, and if it is, how do I get a new/used one to replace it? By the way, I've tried switching the on/off switch on the back and nothing happens. There is no light in front of the TV like there was when it worked. Thanks for helping.

it's absolutely the fuse. My brother-in-law did the exact same thing...you probably used one screw that was a little too long and disrupted the fuse-link. In his case he shattered the fuse, and it was about $2 to replace it. Radio shack has a near-match for it...I think it's a slo-blow not a quick-acting fuse...but whatever the case proved to be an adequate replacement.
