KF-50XBR800 issue

I've had a Sony KF-50XBR800 for quite some time and it's been a great television, but I am experiencing some issues that are driving me crazy. I see what I would call 'ghost images', for lack of a better term. I've snapped a photo to demonstrate what I'm referring to:

*I have to make four more posts before the image will display*

A few months ago, I bought an Avia setup DVD and I was immediately able to make the picture so bad that it was not viewable. I then reset the television back to it's defaults.

Is there a setting that I can adjust or is this unit on its last leg?

I have the exact same issue with my 50xbr800. it's been getting progressively worse over the last couple years and is now about to the point yours is.

Did you find a solution?

I never got a solution. I found this thread in which a user purports to have the data necessary to correct it, but I have not received a response from him yet.

I fixed the red ghosting problem tonight based on the notes in the thread "How Do I Do An Image Revision Tweak On My Sony KF-50XBR800" (not enough posts to post the URL yet).

In the service menu, I changed:
Category: D GM TG
Item: V POS D
Old: 30
New: 31

That's all it took.

Well, I say that's all, but I read through all of the "UMR Does GWII" thread and downloaded version 4.5 of the "GWXBR TWEAKS" PDF and read it about 8 times before I started making any changes. But once I finally got brave enough to modify something, it took less than a minute to fix a problem that's been nagging me for ages.

Thank you very much, sir! The procedure worked like a charm for me, too.

My 50" Grand Wega KF-50XBR800 is having the EXACT same issues. I read the image revision multiple times as well. I am just really scared to mess with the settings.

Maybe I'll give it a shot this weekend.

THANKS for this post!

The Image Revision worked perfectly. No more ghosting issues.

Next in line to fix.. audio on right speaker.

Hey guys,

I did this fix as well, I had a bad ghost shadow to the *left* of objects and the above fix worked like a charm.

For the most part it's gone, except when I put my Xbox in 720p, then there is a bad ghost shadow to the *right* of objects, and none of the "Category: D GM TG" adjustments made a difference.

Any ideas?

Did the V pos D Tweak. Works great! I press mute, then enter. All is ok. However when I restart the TV. Ghosting is back! I changed 30 ~ 31. But after a few minutes - turn on the TV. And it always goes back to 30!!! I did the tweak 10 times or more. always works!, but does not appear to save! (I do not press the mute and enter botton at the same time). Is there some knid of auto-correct feature I have to turn off or something? Any help would be Great. As a note: I am in Japan and my TV is called KL-50DX700 it seems to be similar to KP-60ws500. anyway, Sony service came and said I needed to change my LCD block etc... $700.00 or more they said! I started looking for a solution and found this tweak into the SM. Great! works great! Picture is fantastic again! But, please any help on permently saving!!!??? I would be very greatful!

I was wondering myself if those setting held for you guys.
A buddy of mine has the same issues and I fixed it, but after the television was power cycled the ghosting came back and all the settings were reverted to the old values. Has anybody been able to get these settings to hold?
