Anybody go from 1366x768 LCD to 1024x768 PLASMA Opinions?

Hi,
I am considering going from a typical 1366x768 42" LCD to a 1024x768 42" PLASMA.

What I hope to gian from it are better blacks and better color.

Anybody here make this decision? If so are you happy with the 1024 plasma?

I do watch some HDTV and game on a 360, but I don't think I will lose much on 720P going to the plasma, I suspect the gain in blacks and color will tip the scales in favor of the plasma...I will not be upgrading to HD-DVD or Blu-Ray any time soon.

Thoughts?

Yes, Yes.

532H -> Panny 42PX60U and I could not be more pleased. I do not game much though, and 90% of what I watch is OTA HDTV or WS DVD.

Color is overhyped as I ended up turning the pasma way down -6 on color to make them more natural. Black levels are all that they are cracked up to be.

The dealbreaker for some is seating disatance. At less than 4' the dithering becomes objectionable on many items, but it's not visible from seating distance.

Yeah, I like the tight pixels of LCD, but there is something to be said for the "anti-aliasing" effect of the reduced resolution for game I suppose.

I will be viewing from decent distances.

Am I right in thinking burn-in is not really an issue anymore? Sorry for the newbie plasma question.

I went from a Sony 1080P to the Panny 42" . At 1024 X 768 and at my seating distance (6-8 ft) I "think I percieve" a little bit of lost resoultion - though I think the color and overall PQ is warmer than the LCD. I think the LCD felt artificial to me - but I am still on the fence. The Panny is great for HD - but SD you will get tired of having to play with the remote to adjust the aspect ratio to your liking - which for me personnaly is never just quite right. I have another couple of weeks to make up my mind - but at the current price differential - you can't go wrong with the Panny.

What kind of playing do you have to do in SD?
On my vizio LCD when I go to SD it just stretches the sd wide and it looks good enough for me.
