After reading the various reviews of The Mummy, I decided to go and get it. I just got done watching it and I must say I am VERY Impressed. Most of the reveiws I have read said it was good, but not great. To me, the transfer was GREAT!!
As far as PQ goes, I saw absolutely no artifacting, even in the dark action sequences. Also the colors really popped in the daylight desert scenes. I also noticed that the HD transfer actually enhanced the CGI effects and made them seem more real and less artificial.
There is a scene in the beginning of the film where Brandon Frasier is standing in the desert and the sand begins to move and the face of the Priest is shown. During this scene sand is flying in all directions and I kid you not, you could see individual granuals of sand. Also the way the blue sky, contrasts with the brown sand is breathtaking in many points throughout the movie. While on the subject of the blue sky, I saw absolutely no banding at all, like which is very evident in the Blu-ray version of Ice Age.
As far AQ goes, it is well done, but not a drastic improvement over the SD-DVD version. I feel they could have made better use of the Surrounds in both 5.1 and 7.1 setups and could have used more LFE's. However, the Center channel is vastly improved over the SD-DVD version and dialog is much more clear and audiable on the HD-DVD release.
All in all I would give this a 8.5 out of 10 overall and highly recommend this release for any HD Enthusiast.
For this review I used an Xbox 360 HD-DVD Add-on (Which I strongly feel produces the best HD picture out there right now, HD-DVD or Blu-ray) and I used a Sony VW-50 "Pearl" on to a 110" Da-Lite High Powered Screen.

I just bought it too. If it is anywhere near the PQ of the HDDVDs I've seen so far, it'll be worth the $.
