Mark originally calibrated my first 2 SubMersives. (the 2nd two were easy as I placed them symmetrical to the first two). Over time, I made minor adjustments in their placement.
At a later time, he diddled with my Catalysts (playing around with my TacT target curves, Audyssey target curves and toe in of the speakers) but I ended up changing all of that later and he has not been here to see/hear the Sparks. What I learned from him when he did the subs was (a) you MUST have measurement software/hardware (b) you MUST have measurement software/hardware and (c) you must know how to use it. (REW, XTZ or OmniMic -- in my case, OmniMic). Without those tools, you will never get anywhere near what is possible out of your system (Seaton or any other brand).
It then becomes a bit of measuring, moving, measuring, moving ...........
As for integrating all of them together, check out the Audyssey thread. There are lots of tricks, (a number of which were put forth by Mark Seaton) to make the most cohesive sound possible.
I will say that when playing an action movie near reference, it is pretty intense. One of my favorite scenes is from one of the Die Hard series where Bruce Willis is driving a truck on some LA freeway ramps. I demoed it yesterday to the guy who was doing a home appraisal on our house. He was exhausted after watching that scene (but had a HUGE smile on his face).
Mark makes FUN speakers. Are they the very best available in the known and unknown universe? For 2 channel music, probably not -- particularly if you are willing to spend 10 times the money. For movies, I wait for the day to hear anything better at 5 times the price.
Are they "speakers for life"? For me they are. If he release any time soon "on wall Sparks" I would trade out for those but short of that, there is no reason to change speakers. (And this is coming from someone is has been in audio for over 40 years, has probably owned 10 to 15 very high end speakers (Wilson, Dunlavy, Thiel, Magnepan, B&W, etc) and countless subs. Now I spend most of my money on media (movies and music). I am in the process of moving and will be building another theater so will also be spending money there as well.
